The Nuke was their way of ending PHW. When you went to the homepage you were greeted by a picture desert and the scorched logo in the center.

There was no warning that they where gonna do it and the site was still doing well. Numbers where as to be expected too (It was just experiencing the annual summer low that all sites get).

But as Mythos said they did it in the flawed logic that the complicated methods of making Source based movies was the future.

But rather and soft lauch it they went in with that silly 'War Of The Servers' film. Which scared away anyone who made films using the old screenshot method (like me) for fear of being burnt at the stake.

A red spy.

But seriously, I'm pretty sure i discovered the series through PHW somehow, and i might have lurked on PoB, i never read all of them though.

This was all before i created an account on either site.

Oh, wait. I didn't know Looshkin had hosted it as a "part" of the War and thought you'd gotten that through some other means.

Man, I have to admit, I really miss those times. That's when GMod was fun and cool.
And hey, it was also the beginning of my popularity peak, so not too shabby. I remember when almost every new comic in PHW involved my skin in some capacity, heh.

Ironically, The Nuke actually brought a lot of people out of the woodwork - it only really took out the front page. The forums stayed intact and were in fact pretty lively in the first month or so after the nuking - the death throes only really kicked in once the URL expired and the forum got shunted around a couple of different websites before finally disappearing for good in February this year...

Chris did you not like War of the Servers then?

I found War of the Servers pretty forgettable for something that had been hyped for months. It also meant the end of Brashfink's comic making tenure, and thus the ultimely death of Apostasy, so I have no fond memories of it at all.

I remember an "emergency" MSN chat between a lot of the most active fellas on PHW. Even though I hadn't even been two months in the site, I got invited and actually had a say there. It was... interesting to find out that some of the guys whose comics I loved reading were trolling douches.

Well... that's life I suppose.
I had a similar feeling when I was ten and found out Robin Williams and Jim Carey were on drugs 3/4 of the time.

Well, SUBPRIME Episode Two has gotten only 127 views and five replies on Facepunch so far. Me and my big fat ego are getting depressed.

Boy, do I miss the times I was a household name in comic making. I got to be on PHW's Comic Team!
