There have been a handful of films remade in recent years - but what do you think of remakes? Some examples would be - Cheaper By The Dozen, Miracle on 34th Street, Titanic, Dracula, The Fog, The Italian Job, King Kong...and countless more. Feel free to state your experiences of watching two films made in different eras. |

I can't think of many remakes that better the originals, the modern ones especially tend to rely too much on special CGI effects rather than acting skills. One remake I like better is Little Shop of Horrors. The comedy musical version was better than the 50s or 60s Jack Nicholson version. |

Yes, that's true... Although with some I think it updates them slightly, for example Romeo and Juliet and all of the Shakespeare themed films that modernise the stories. 'O' being one of them, although I didn't think it was as good as the modern TV show they did of Othello. Especially updating them from Black and White - Cheaper By The Dozen and Miracle on 34th Street both being in that category. While the originals are still great, the new versions are just...different, with the colour being part of that, I think. |

Oh yes, I think if it's a film unknown then sure...but well known ones are just crazy! I didn't even realise there was a Cheaper By the Dozen original until it was on TV a few years ago...if they tried to remake something like Mary Poppins, or Sound of Music, of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, it just wouldn't be the same. |

Oooh, I have no idea...lol. Though saying that I think all of Shakespeare's work should be modernised like 10 Things I Hate About You, O, Romeo and Juliet. It can be so difficult for people to understand when reading, but to have a modern film (even with modern language) to help kids understand the themes in the plays would be really beneficial. |
