I was just invited to my auntie and uncles house - to watch the Eurovision Song Contest - which I wasn't planning on watching! I used to watch it every year as a kid, but now I've just lost interest.

Is anyone else going to be watching it tonight? Even if it is stealing Doctor Who.

And do you think they should stop making the contest?

It's not about the music now (if it ever has been), it's all political voting.
And as for the music, thats not too great either, I'm sure they pick the worst cheesy song as an entry each year.
The only good thing about watching it is Terry Wogan's very sarcastic commentary, but I won't be watching it even for that :D

Lol, yes! I agree, political all the way. More so since the Iraq war.

The guy running for the UK this year actually said he thinks he has a shot - but he doesn't. Chance is we'll be in the bottom few like the past few years. No bearing on the song either, just on the voting.

I think it'd make it much better if the songs had to be sung in the native language for that country because everyone's singing in English these days.

I think the other funny bit - is the dress sense of some of these Europeans, they're hilarious!

I guess there have been a few good Eurovision songs tho, like the cheesy classic Bucks Fizz song, they don't make em like that anymore lol

Nope, nothing's ever like it used to be. :(

Eurovision used to make someone's career, now it ruins it.

It ruins their chances of ever having a career though...like that Andy guy who's doing it this year, he obviously wanted a career as he was on some talent show and now he's doing this, it's career suicide.

There's some pretty scary acts - what were Spain thinking?? Looks like a rolf harris / elvis impersonator!
