Which do you prefer? Disney's classic animated films, or Pixar? Oooh and why?

Classic - definately! I love 2-D animation, it's got an old feel about it which I think it's so special, we don't see it very often anymore with kids TV shows. Shows like Top Cat, Wacky Races, The Smurfs (all different companies of course) but they will always go down in history as amazing animations. I love that style.

Although I must admit, the naivety of Snow White is laughable, but I'd still rather watch classic Disney over the new films any day. They had that spark, mystical fantasy world with princesses and such. All little girls still seem to love Disney Princesses, you don't see a website dedicated to Disney Pixar animals do you? :p

I agree, I think that the films have lost a lot of their charm.

Whilst Toy Story was incredible as it was the first, for it's sheer ingenuity and design (I also don't think it could work as anything but computer animation), I just think they've lost a lot of the 'magic' they had.

Yes definately! I must admit I loved Monsters Inc. but they don't have the same Disney feel to them.

Classic most definatley! Nothing beats a classic, plus I do love the cartoons so much more than the animation. The classics remind me of my childhood, whereas as the Pixar films do not play any role in that.

I agree classic is much better... I really wish they make another film like that some day. The Lion King just rocked! and so did all the others. I like Pixar films but they are just not as good as the classic :S

Unfortunately I doubt they ever will. :( The media people seem insistent on making new versions of old normal animations in a weird computerised way: i.e. Noddy, Rupert Bear, Arthur.

They just don't seem to be able to do proper normal hand drawn animation anymore. The original Mickey Mouse was pretty great for what it was at the time.

I mean check this out, it's so amazing, even though it's black and white and old:

The skill that must have gone into that, now they just push a few buttons on a computer or whatever.

Yeah those were the days when people took ages just to do one frame and do it with such love and care, Now it takes like 1 min to do one frame and for them it is just a job that pays money now.

Yep. It's the same with graphic design - it used to all be hand drawn/made and now it's just completely computerised. A graphic designer, on asking him for tips on making better graphics in Photoshop, pretty much said that you can't be "good" at Photoshop, you can just know how to do things.

When people drew it, they had to be good at it - now they just have to know how to run a computer program.

Yep it is quite sad really. That all of it can be done really fast just to save money now and that no love or dedication is put in to it like the classic stuff :'(
