'Don't like it much' There's far too many. They're all over the top, and people just being ridiculous. With regards to the BBC - I'd prefer the licsencing fee to be going to quality programming like dramas etc. However (and this is why I didn't vote for a more extreme option), I am partial to Strictly Come Dancing, because I am a dancer. |

That makes sense! It is all over the place isn't it, I agree with the over the top too. I hate that you always have to phone up and get involved, I'd rather for once, just once, the judges make the decision and their decision is final! Particularly with all the problems there have been with phone in competitions/votes! I went for 'I dislike it' because while I dislike reality tv like talent competitions and celebrity things - I quite like Supernanny and though I don't like what they do in Wife Swap, it is an amazing thing to look at from a sociological point of view. I prefer reality tv where it's not phoning up to vote basically. |

I think BB is a pile of ****, tbh. (Excuse mah French. :() But, erm, yeah.. Maybe the first one was okay, but the rest.. Just a pile of crap. I like Britain's Got Talent, and X Factor, sorta stuff.. Does that count as reality TV?

Hmm. I have mixed feelings. I think reality tv can be good...but then it is taken too far. Take Big Brother for instances. I used to like that show but now it has gone too fair. I think the ones that require you to have some talent are better than just sitting in a house/on an island/in the middle of no where! |

I despise it like a cold shower in winter. when big brother started it was met to be a social experament but now it just seem to be usless people who want fame but have no talent what so ever. with things like x-factor or pop idol im really not a fan, but tbh thats cos pop music really isnt my thing. the only thing that benafits from those show's is simon cowells bank ballance. these show's have been going for years and the only one group have lasted. i wouldn't count Strictly Come Dancing as a "realty tv" its famous people dancing. |

I guess there's three elements to what is considered 'reality tv' these days: 1) The Big Brother style shows - celebrities in the jungle, Survivor, etc. Which while they can be entertaining and were originally social experiments, are now merely used as bumping a low profile or creating a profile. 2) The real life nitty gritty - Wife Swap, Supernanny, shows that while they're are set up, there's a strong element of realism and with things like How Clean is Your House and Supernanny, they can actually be helpful for some people. 3) TV talent shows - Pop Idol, X-factor, Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing on Ice. Shows that are fun for those who are interested in those areas, or introduce new people to things they may not have thought about before. However, in terms of real people shows there is the humour element of showing the 'stupid' looking people. They're mostly fun and entertaining and for the real life people involved, they can be a huge boost to a persons esteem or career. I prefer the celebrity ones, because they're more about making money than about making people look stupid. That's what I personally would describe reality tv as. Erm, I watch quite a bit of it actually! I watch; Big Brother, Strictly Come Dancing, I'm a Celebrity..Get Me Out Of Here!, The Apprentice and Shipwrecked. I despise singing programmes like The X Factor and the Andrew Lloyd series (I'd Do Anything). I also hate Dancing On Ice. |
