Have you ever wondered why America is constantly in war? Even if we aren’t fighting someone, we have to fabricate one and throw a label such as “Cold War” at it. There are reasons for this.

1) They must get more money!!!

War is expensive. In order to pay for a war, the government has 2 options: 1) Increase taxes 2) Borrow the money and increase taxes later. This simply gives the government more money and power. When they increase their taxing power, they know they have full access to your assets. It’s easy money, and can be used for a variety of things besides the war.

2) You need us….

When people fear for their lives, they want a feeling of protection. What better protection than an enormous federal government ready to invade at anytime? If we feel perfectly safe all the time, then why do we need the government? We would feel that we could reduce government, and that simply won’t do. This is the reason why every little thing around the world is blown out of proportion, to keep us scared and wanting security. This leads me to my next point.

3) The people will give up liberty for security.

Ever hear of the Patriot Act? Well it was a violation of the 4th amendment in order to have increased domestic surveillance. Did anyone care about this amendment being broke? Some, but not many. The reason for this is simple: People were willing to give up their rights for a feeling of security. Once the government sees that it can do this, don’t expect wars to ever end. Speaking of never ending wars, How about the war on “terror”. They are the perfect enemy because they will never go away. Terrorism will always exist because it isn’t a country, it’s an ideology. Not only will it never go away, but it is all over the world. Terrorists are the perfect enemy. They are the permanent enemy to ensure we are always in danger and must rely on the government for protection. As we spread around the world fighting terrorism, we will breed more. It’s perfect.

Got any more reasons why government loves war?

I wouldn't say the government loves war at all. Times of war are when government is more scrutanized than ever. The US government faced significant backlash after Iraq and Vietnam.

Consider this: we're currently living in a country where everything the president does is automatically wrong, even though some of his ideas are great (Pro-life, lower taxes, less regulation of healthcare). But everyone loves Clinton, even though he was an idiot with the economy, foreign policy, social policy, and pretty much anything else you can think of. Why do we love Clinton but hate Bush? Simple: Bush started two wars and Clinton just sat around.

Does the government rush into war too hastily? Most definitely. There are many countries who start wars for the reasons you listed (Russia...), but this is one rare instance where I give the United States government the benefit of the doubt.

We resisted more than a few opportunities for war (Iran in the past few decades, the USSR for the better part of 45 years, North Korea since... the end of the Korean War, Libya, most of Central America, Venezuela...).
Denver Broncos: defending champs, 8-6, next game 12/25 @ Kansas City Chiefs
Colorado Rockies: 75-87, missed playoffs
Colorado Avalanche: 11-18-1, next game 12/20 @ Minnesota Wild
Denver Nuggets: 12-16, next game 12/20 @ Los Angeles Clippers
Colorado Mammoth: first game 12/30 @ Buffalo Bandits
Denver Outlaws: defending champs, first game 4/22 @ Charlotte Hounds
Colorado State Rams football: 7-5, next game Idaho Bowl 12/22 vs Idaho Vandals
Colorado State Rams basketball: 8-4, next game 12/22 vs Long Beach State 49ers
Winnipeg Blue Bombers: 11-7, lost West Division Semifinal
Denver Pioneers Lacrosse: first game 1/24 vs Johns Hopkins Blue Jays
#2 Denver Pioneers Hockey: 12-3-3, next game 12/30 @ Providence College Friars

im gonna say that I do believe the government loves war, mostly because of industry tied directly to government/war. We are a corporatist nation, so things like this is expected.

The government deserves to be scrutanized for going to war. Especially for Iraq and Vietnam.

What president Bush does and said he was going to do are 2 completely different things. Bush did not fight to end abortion. He didn't fight to end social security. He didn't deregulate at all. He kept everything the same. He lowered taxes slightly, but even so, I cannot applaud him for that because he increased spending. That means that he only shifted the responsibility on to other people, or even the same people but at a different time.

He has done nothing that I agree with (that comes to mind). But what I do know, is that he has violated our rights more than any president since FDR. He created Homeland Security, increased the war on drugs, and started multiple wars.

I will never defend Clinton. He's a big reason for our current economic crisis. But that that doesn't make Bush any better. This war is absolutely unjustifiable. Not only has it breed more terrorism, but it is costing us massive amounts of money that we don't have (if liberals were consistent, they would say this is a good thing).

War is one of the best ways for the government to expand it's power over us. The Civil War, Korean War, WWI, Vietnam war, Iraq War, and many other wars we have engaged in have been immoral wars. When is the last time we were invaded by a country? And no, 9/11 didn't count. We have our own domestic terrorists, yet we don't invade ourselves do we? We don't launch hundreds of cruise missiles at our cities do we? No.

Sure we have resisted a couple of wars, but we have also not resisted many opportunities. And we have resisted war with Iran, Pakistan, and Korea, but we still have time for that.
