Since I know most of us here are in some form of educational institution I also know that we are allotted some time between the end of December and beginning of January as a vacation.

I've got a stack of books to read and games to play and I don't think I'll even have enough time playing/reading 8-10 hours a day from December ~10th through to the first week of January to finish them all.

These are the games I "have" that I need to play (in some cases finish):

Devil May Cry 3: SE (PS2) [finished]
Killer7 (PS2)
Persona 3: FES (PS2)
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (PS2)
Silent Hill 3 (PS2)
Timesplitters (PS2) [no desire]

The Darkness (360)

Castle Crashers (XBLA)
Duke Nukem 3D (XBLA)
Ikaruga (XBLA)
Prince of Persia Classic (XBLA)
Rez HD (XBLA)

Chrono Cross (PS)
Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions (PS)
Parasite Eve (PS)
Skullmonkeys (PS) [no desire]
Xenogears (PS)

Clockwork Knight 2 (SAT)
Myst (SAT)
Virtua Cop 2 (SAT)
Wipeout (SAT)

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (DS)

MDK2 (DC)
Resident Evil: Code Veronica (DC)
Shenmue (DC)
Sonic Adventure (DC)
Soul Calibur (DC)
Triggerheart Exelica (DC)

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (GC)
F-Zero GX (GC)
P.N.03 (GC)
Super Mario Sunshine (GC) [no desire, rather play Mario 64 again]
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GC)

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (PSP) [no desire, controls are wonky, just bought it for story]
Taiko no Tatsujin (PSP) [no desire, meh, I prefer IIDX and DJMAX]

Day of the Tentacle (PC)
Deus Ex (PC)
Deus Ex: Invisble War (PC)
Fallout (PC)
Fallout 2 (PC)
Grim Fandango (PC)
Planescape: Torment (PC)
System Shock 2 (PC)
The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall (PC)
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (PC)
The Neverhood (PC) [no desire]
Thief: The Dark Project (PC)
Thief II: The Metal Age (PC)
Thief: Deadly Shadows (PC)

These are the games I want to get:

Crackdown (360)
Dead Space (360) [no desire to own]
Mirror's Edge (360) [own and have completed several times]

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 (PS2)

Shenmue II (DC)

DJ MAX Fever (PSP)
DJ MAX Emotional Sense: Black Square (PSP)

~

It's going to feel like a chore having to go through all these games without having the time to actually "enjoy" any of them.

EDIT/UPDATE (Nov 24): I applied some strikethrough to the games that I either have finished or have no desire of playing/buying anymore.

Add Crush to that list of PSP games or go to hell. Seriously. There is not a better PSP game in existence.

Anyway, I've got fuck tons of games to play. Probably more than you, Brad. I keep buying systems and then getting into them. And before I build a good library or complete too many games, I buy another system.

Are there even anymore games that exist?

You have no idea. There are at least 25 games I own that I've put less than an hour of play time into.

It's what we get for being game collectors. Deadly just doesn't get it.

Oh, no I get it, I just can't see you getting to all those games unless you play them all for 5 minutes each.

Not much.

Gears 2, Far Cry 2, Mirror's Edge, and Sonic Unleashed.

I'll probably give Metroid Prime 3 another go too.
When posting on The Board...

I want Chrono Trigger for DS - I'll have to import it.

I've also ordered Shenmue at long last.

Wow... wish I would have the time to actually play that many games. But realistically speaking, I'd like to play:
Dead Space
Mirror's Edge
Gears of War 2
Soul Calibur 4
Parasite Eve
Metal Gear Solid 3
Metroid Prime

Some other things I plan on doing over the break in addition to taking a chunk out of my list:

Buying a PS3 with Metal Gear Solid 4 and LittleBigPlanet
Trying World of WarCraft and if I like it; getting the Battlechest and Wrath of the Lich King.

don't buy warcraft fox. if you do, you won't play anything else. you won't post on here, you won't do anything. you'll get sucked in. My friends actually had to ween themselves off of it.

Haha, that's why I'm afraid to start playing WoW.

I wasn't addicted to it when I played it, but yes one of my friends was unfortunate enough to get sucked in.

I'd never play WoW on sheer principle alone. You have to pay a monthly charge to play it. I refuse to play any game, especially a PC game at that, where you have to pay anything except to obtain a copy of the installation and key via disc or download (steam).

btw: how is Mirror's Edge Fox? I see you've completed it several times. That must mean it's pretty damn fun to play eh?

I have to try it. I always criticize the game even without having tried it. The only MMO I've ever played was about 15 hours of the free Anarchy Online, which was interesting but lacked the single-player experience I wanted from a "role-playing game." I am going into WoW with an open mind and taking it for what it is. If I like it, I will play it with my friend who cleared up a few things about the game for me (who said it is more enjoyable to play with a couple real life friends in the same room than it is to mingle with random people online, which is also helped by my preference for LAN play over online play for games like WarCraft III and StarCraft).

I doubt I will get addicted to it, online games in general don't hold my interest very long at all, I always end up quitting after a while and never going back (i.e. Call of Duty, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress 2). If the single player (that is, the main story) is good enough, I will play it for what its worth. There is a significant amount of content in WoW that keeps getting expanded, it makes sense that Blizzard would want to charge for that if it is made and added after-the-fact.

Mirror's Edge is fantastic. The problem is, is that it is a very "love it/hate it" game. If you enjoy the demo you will enjoy the game. The game is just the demo spread out over 9 more levels, all with progressively more difficult jumping and fighting puzzles. It sets the standard for first-person platformers. Every single one that comes after will be taking inspiration from Mirror's Edge.

Eurogamer's review sums up the game very nicely and tells you straight up, the game is about parkour, if you don't like the gameplay, you won't like the game, since that is what the game is. One thing to keep in mind when playing the game is: "it is NOT a shooter." I went through the whole game on hard without shooting a single enemy (there is one part at the end of the last level where shooting the servers to destroy them is faster than getting the enemies to shoot them).

Another thing I would like to say about the game that often gets criticized is; the gunplay is as solid as any other console shooter out there. It doesn't offer the same level of depth but the guns feel real and do damage, the focus of the game is running, not shooting, which is why I think some people mistake the gunplay as "bad" when it just has had the spotlight taken off of it.

I loved the demo so that's good to hear, I also laugh when I hear reviewers say that the gunplay is horrible and whatnot.

The game is about running away and finding solutions to jumping puzzles, also, Faith is a runner, not Master Chief.

I play the demo on PS3 constantly. I freakin' love the style of it, the gameplay, everything. I'm even following the comic book.

I'm totally for the first person platformer element. When I get to the few enemies in the demo, I just punch them out or otherwise dispose of them without trying to steal their guns. When I do get the guns, it does play like a shooter but that's not the point.

I really dig the time trial mode as well even though I haven't got to use it. For the record, I'm waiting for the PC version. I Gotta have mouselook for first person games.

Mouselook really doesn't matter for the game that much. Most adjustments that you make tend to only be minor and don't require hairline precision. Generally, if you are traveling in the right direction you will most likely hit your target and grab it.
