Fucking cheating ass Jon Lester.

"it's not vaseline, it's rosin!"

Bullshit.

Doesn't explain the Cards' terrible defense and pitching, but Lester should be banned for the rest of the series.

Missed game 2. Sox lost, which sucks. I think ESPN's analysis is hilarous, though. After game 1, it was all doom and gloom for the cardinals, and now after game 2, it's "all they do is win" and that the Sox are in huge trouble after losing one at Fenway. It's one game in a series that most predict to go 6 or 7 games, the sensationalism is a little much. If it's 3-1 Cards then such headlines are justified, but 1-1 no way.

I get the feeling that, amazingly, you care far more about the result of this series than I do.

And it was a shitty way to end the game, but that was the right call. Only reason the play was close was because Middlebrooks tripped the guy up. Salty never should have thrown that ball to begin with after the first tag out.

You really must not be a fan if it's humanly possible for someone to care more about the World Series your team is playing in than you do.

I used to get really upset about every twist and turn with my sports teams... but then I realized that I have no control over any of it, and getting all sad and depressed over what some guys I'll never know or meet are doing is stupid. I still enjoy watching sports (football mostly), but I usually just focus on the positives or find comedy in things when they go bad.

Sox tied it up. I don't know how they do it, but they keep winning games with late-inning HR's. And another weird ending, with St. Louis's runner getting picked off 1st to end it.

Up 3-2 headed back to Boston. A year ago I never would have thought John Lackey actually gives the Sox a decent shot of winning the series in 6, but that's the case. I think it's more likely the series goes 7 though, and I don't even know who would pitch for each team in that case.

Nolan Arenado gets the Gold Glove! First rookie to win one since Ichiro, and that doesn't really count since he was already in the Japanese Majors for like 8 years before he got here.

Carlos Gonzalez also won another one.

I was interested to find out that they now incorporate advanced defensive stats in the gold glove process along with manager and coach votes that previously determined the award. General feedback I saw said that the awards were awarded more accurately this year than in the past.

On the Sox Pedroia and Victorino won gold gloves. Seem like good choices to me.

I know Robinson Cano is a very good player, one of the top ten or fifteen players in baseball right now, but Seattle giving him 10 years for $240 million is insane. The guy's already 31, in all likelihood he's already had his best offensive season, and he'll make $24 million when he's 40. I don't think any player is worth that kind of money outside of maybe Miguel Cabrera (starting a few years ago) or Mike Trout (starting in the next few years).

And Jacoby Ellsbury went to the Yankees on a deal that seems reasonable in comparison, but is still in excess of what the Sox gave Carl Crawford a few years back. Again, another player who earned a big contract, but I don't think he's worth that kind of money. The Yanks also signed Carlos Beltran, so they have way too many outfielders on their roster now and need to get rid of at least 1. The Yanks need to go after pitching before they go all-in on hitting though, because their rotation looks terrible next year outside of a rebound year for CC.

I'm starting to agree with the Red Sox general free agent strategy where they'll overpay on an annual basis but keep the contract much shorter-term, like the 2 year $32 million deal they re-signed Napoli to. Napoli isn't worth $16 million a year, but I think he has two good seasons left in him. He struck out a ton last year which tells me his hitting might not age very well, but I'm good with them giving him two years.
