So the Colorado Mammoth home opener is tonight, and I'll be there. Right after the Broncos game, so I've got a busy day.

We play the Washington Stealth.

Mammoth had a great season last year but got bounced in the playoffs. We are definitely championship good, it's just a matter of proving it.
Denver Broncos: defending champs, 8-6, next game 12/25 @ Kansas City Chiefs
Colorado Rockies: 75-87, missed playoffs
Colorado Avalanche: 11-18-1, next game 12/20 @ Minnesota Wild
Denver Nuggets: 12-16, next game 12/20 @ Los Angeles Clippers
Colorado Mammoth: first game 12/30 @ Buffalo Bandits
Denver Outlaws: defending champs, first game 4/22 @ Charlotte Hounds
Colorado State Rams football: 7-5, next game Idaho Bowl 12/22 vs Idaho Vandals
Colorado State Rams basketball: 8-4, next game 12/22 vs Long Beach State 49ers
Winnipeg Blue Bombers: 11-7, lost West Division Semifinal

Well, the Mammoth lost. But there were some sweet fights and they had a great crowd (13000+) considering the Broncos game ran almost all the way through the first quarter.

The whole league had a great opening week for attendance (2012 average):
Buffalo - 15238 (15918)
Denver - 13148 (15239)
Calgary - 11563 (8313)
Philadelphia Wings 9096 (8212)
Washington Stealth - 7023 (3893)

Edmonton (7039) opens tomorrow while Rochester (6833), Toronto (11173) and Minnesota (8596) open next week.

Colorado and Buffalo are the money makers, so no worries there. Toronto had a great year last year, and as long as they can hold over 10K they should turn a nice profit.

Calgary has historically averaged over 10K but had a dip last year, the first under Calgary Flames ownership. Hopefully they've got a few things figured out and can sustain five digit numbers again. Four teams over 10K is good news for the league.

Minnesota and Philadelphia were at about the break-even point last year. If they can climb to 9000 they should be in great shape.

The ones that really need to jump over 8000 are Edmonton and Rochester. The league needs those two teams to be successful. They're probably not profitable now but they're close, and having every team profitable is a great way to attract expansion.

Washington has low numbers but they have a killer lease in a tiny arena in a town about an hour outside Seattle, and they charge high ticket prices. They probably aren't profitable but they are stable, and there is speculation they could bolt to a larger nearby city in the coming years (Seatte when they get a new arena or Vancouver).

I think this league needs to get back to 12-14 teams to attract a better TV deal. 9 isn't enough, and teams are so deep these last few years that three minor pro indoor leagues (NALL, Clax, PLL) and one semipro indoor league (MILA) have popped up to absorb the extras. There just aren't enough roster spots for the talent available right now.
