You have no running backs and only one QB how many people are in your league? you look good at WR and TE but carrying too many carrying two kickers and only one defense is also puzzling |

It's a 10 team league. Keep in mind this is my first foray into the world of FF, so any advice is welcome. Oh and I don't remember drafting Dan Bailey, lol. TBH I wasn't really paying attention after the 7th round. |

I got two teams in ten-team leagues, one is going to be 2-1 and the other may be 1-2 or 2-1 depending on how Rodgers/Jennings do. Team 1: QB: Cam Newton RB: Arian Foster, Stevan Ridley, CJ Spiller, DeAngelo Williams, Daniel Thomas WR: Steve Smith, Dez Bryant, Antonio Brown, Denarius Moore, Malcom Floyd, Mike Williams, Kevin Ogletree TE: Jimmy Graham D/ST: Atlanta K: Prater Probably going to drop one of those WR for another QB or RB. Team 2: QB: Aaron Rodgers RB: Demarco Murray, Doug Martin, Steven Jackson, Kevin Smith, Rashard Mendenhall WR: Brandon Marshall, Stevie Johnson, Greg Jennings, Robert Meachem, Pierre Garcon, Denarius Moore TE: Dennis Pitta, Jared Cook D/ST: Falcons K: Alex Henry I don't think drafting backup QB's is worth it unless you have a guy like Mike Vick who is a big injury risk. Guys like Newton and Rodgers are starting every week no matter what, and if they got hurt I'd be screwed anyway. |

Moist leagues are quarterback centric, meaning they have the biggest influence on whether or not you win. Having two, as I do above (eight team league btw), allows me to play the matchups against weak defenses. For example, most weeks I play Brady and usually he does great. He played well this weekend but I saw Roethlisberger was playing Oakland. I ndecided Roethlisberger was the better plan rather than Brady against the Ravens, and I was right. Brady had a great game but Roethlisberger still outscored him by over 20 points. My draft strategy was QB RB WR QB RB TE WR WR RB TE D then the rest |

Who is available as a free agent in your league for quarterbacks, Shaun? Sanchez is just about worthless for the long haul even if he has had some decent games for far. See my post above about why it ays to have a good backup In general you don't want to carry two kickers as they have the least impact on whether you win or lose. Consider this: there are 32 kickers in the league and only ten teams in yours. That means that, at worst, someone ranked11/32/ is available for free. Kickers you usually stick with one, cut him on his bye week and sign a replacement, then get them back if you want later. Carrying two defenses is a good way to go. The Bears D is a great one to have but you want to make sure you're prepared for their bye week. If you dropped the Bears someone would pick them up in an instant so you should definitely have another option in case they have a bye or an otherwise unfavorable matchup. What defenses are available? And does your league give points for sacks? You look good at TE WR you are deep but you have too many. RBs usually score better in most leagues so it's wise to play them in your flex spot in your lineup. My split is 4/4 because there were good WRs available late in my draft but in most cases I favor a 5/3 RB/WR split. What RBs are available, and do you get a bonus for RBs in the passing game? Bottom line is you need more running backs, a backup QB better than Sanchez, only one kicker, a and a backup D. |

You might also consider trying to trade some of those WRs for whatever you may need, Shaun. They are all decent to great fantasy options and should have value for a team with a hole there. Can't imagine any other teams in a league that big are as deep as that. |

I understand playing matchups with QB's, but if I have a stud like Rodgers or a guy like Newton who can blow up on any given week (because of rushing yards/tds) I can't imagine ever wanting to sit them. If you had a second-tier guy like Romo maybe, but otherwise I don't find it worthwhile. Big Ben may have outscored Brady this week, but it was kind of random luck that he scored that many points even against a mediocre defense. Not often he throws for 4 td's. |

But I still have an elite option for when Brady has a bye, in case Brady gets hurt, if he has a few bad games, or when Brady doesn't have a favorable matchup. For example, I don't think the Broncos have the greatest defense in the world but I am still not playing Brady against them because the Broncos (sans Tebow) generally have Brady's number. Another factor is tradebait. After Brady's bye week I have a lot of leverage in Roethlisberger. Somebody could always use an elite quarterback and they sure as hell aren't finding one on the waiver wire. Quarterbacks are the most important, and having flexibility is huge. In most leagues it's QB > RB > WR > TE and both of your teams are too deep at WR and too shallow at QB and RB. I mean, you have a lot of RBs but only one or two on either team are worth anything |

Starting Dalton over Brees since he's put up some big points and is playing a lowsy team. Packers D seems better this year. Crazy or smart? Edited by Coke Von Cola, Wednesday Sep 26 2012, 08:16 PM.
