Hard not to see Brady or Manning again barring a turnaround by the Houston defense. No other AFC team has a realistic shot of getting past both quarterbacks. |

We'll both be rooting for Houston to lose next week. If they do, that sets up Denver for the #1 seed and the Pats for the #2 if they win. Can't imagine Denver losing to KC under any circumstances. The Pats had a tough game against the Jags today, but at least the Jags have shown some life this year as a 2-12 team, where KC is pretty much just inept in every way. |

Really hoping the Giants fail too make the playoffs this year. They need to pay the price for their inconsistent play somehow, can't reward them with another playoff berth. Not sure how today's loss effects them but it can't help.

I always root for as many Hall of Fame QBs as possible to be eliminated before the playoffs. Brees and Roethlisberger are officially done and it doesn't look good for Eli. That leaves Peyton, Brady, and Rodgers. I don't think it matters whether the Broncos get the 1 or 2 seed. I think they beat the Texans no matter where the game is played. This is a Super Bowl team. New England will have to beat us in Denver, and I don't see it. |

I'd give Denver a slight edge at home, but I wouldn't call it a lock. A lot of football to be played before then, though, if it even happens. |

Not for the Broncos. We have the Chiefs at home and then a first round bye. I expect the Colts to lose to the Texans and the Patriots to beat the Dolphins, and the seeding to be Texans Broncos Patriots Ravens Colts Bengals and the playoffs Ravens over Colts The Ravens are vulnerable and bad on the road, but they won't lose a home playoff game to a rookie quarterback and a Colts team with few wins against good teams. Lewis will be back. Patriots over Bengals The Bengals honestly do have a shot in this game. They're 6-2 on the road and their defense has been playing great. But it's hard to bet against Brady at home in the playoffs. Broncos over Patriots The Broncos are a different team than the one that lost to the Pats in New England, and we won't lose our first home playoff game. We beat the Steelers at home last year with a fullback under center. Big differences will be Kuper and Koppen on the OL instead of the crappy Ramirez and Walton, Moreno instead of McGahee, Keith Brookings instead of Joe Mays, and Tony Carter instead of Tracy Porter. Plus DJ Williams, our leading tackler last year, is a rotational guy (suspended for the first game). We're a much better team now. Texans over Ravens Ravens blow on the road. Broncos over Texans This team's pass defense is way, way worse than it was in the first half of the year. Any team with a top ten QB beats them in the playoffs. Holy Hawks. If they manage to win the division over the 49ers somehow, they could be a legitimate threat to win the NFC. As a wild card, I don't see it as much because they are so much better at home. |

Ron Jaworski goes full retard: "Kaepernick is the reason I like the San Francisco 49ers to win it all," Jaworski wrote. "Between his arm strength and his foot speed, there is nothing the Niners' offense can't do. They've got the smashmouth ground game, and the quick-strike deep ball. He has shown good feel in the pocket and, like Griffin, looks to make the pass first and doesn't default to his legs at the first sign of pressure." He likes Kaepernick out of a field of Kaepernick, Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Ryan, Dalton, Wilson, Luck, Griffin, Ponder, Flacco, and Schaub? |

I have more faith in Kaepernick than you do, but picking him as the reason the 49ers will win it all is absurd. I really don't like Jaworski as an analyst. MNF was better off without him this year. |

MNF is terrible either way (the broadcast team, I mean). Gruden thinks every QB ever is great and Tirico is dumb as paint. As for Kaepernick, I would take every other QB in the playoffs over him. Even Ponder and Flacco. |

Terrible? He played a very poor game, but he's in an entirely different league than Kaepernick. He accounted for over 30 TDs this season and has a career 19-13 record with two playoff appearances in two seasons. He has: 1. A terrible head coach (Marvin Lewis has a career losing record and has never won a playoff game) 2. A terrible offensive line (Dalton is amongst the most sacked QBs in the league) 3. Only one receiver. Seriously, his no.2 is 5 foot seven. Look at his first two seasons. He's going to be a great quarterback some day, but he does have a ways to go in my book. Dalton is asked to do much more than any other young QB, Luck aside. Guys like Ponder, Wilson, Griffin, etc have incredible running games and are only asked to throw in certain situations. Nobody is asking Wilson to throw the 25 yard sideline out; nobody is asking Griffin to make timing throws into tight windows off three step drops. Other teams with young QBs designed their offenses around their QBs limitations. Shanahan is protecting Griffin, Carrol is protecting Wilson, Frazier is protecting Ponder, and Harbaugh is sure as fuck protecting Kaepernick. Dalton and Luck are being asked to drop back almost every down, behind bad lines, and make every throw to one great receiver (Green and Wayne respectively) and a whole bunch of scrubs. But Dalton and Luck going through this now is what will make them great in the future. Nobody is protecting them, nobody is holding their hands. Luck will be better than any listed but I don't expect much out of Ponder, Wilson, or Kaep in the future. Dalton strikes me as an eventual Matt Ryan type; not elite but still easily a franchise QB. Griffin is the wild card; he has the intelligence and tools but I remain skeptical. |

Forgot to mention Stafford -- he's been around so long I forget he's so young. He will be elite. I am sure of that. The other young guys -- Tannehill, Weeden, Freeman, Newton, and Gabbert -- are going nowhere. |

Four really awful games this weekend. Seahawks are toast in Atlanta, Ravens are toast in Denver, and Texans are probably toast in New England. |

It's only one season, but I wonder if injuries are going to hamper RGIII's career. He may or may not develop into a really good quarterback, but if he keeps getting hurt like that (knee, concussion) he'll have a much harder time. And yeah, terrible games. I couldn't really get into any of them, so I watched maybe about a third of each. I think all four higher seeds advance, but give Green Bay the best odds of an upset, with the Texans with the next best shot. I do like Seattle, but I don't expect them to win in Atlanta. Baltimore is toast. Edited by Cube_of_MooN, Sunday Jan 6 2013, 07:39 PM.

I think the Texans are going to lose, but I consider them the only team with even a remote chance. Brady has had problems with the inside pass rush at points in his career and JJ Watt might be the best defensive player in the league right now. If the Texans win it will be because of him. I really, really don't see the 49ers staying within 10 of the Packers. Not with how Rodgers plays on the road, and not with the Packers defense suddenly getting healthy in the playoffs. And yeah, Griffin is going to have to start getting out of bounds and sliding more if he wants to stick around. He plays like Steve McNair but has thus far not demonstrated near the durability required to do so for an extended period. |
