I couldn't honestly give any less of a fuck one way or another about this game but I gotta say, if Blizzard was phoning it in, Diablo 3 would have been out YEARS ago. |

Hey Jan Don't care. I understand thay D2 could have been better balanced from the perspective of skills trees within a class and that some skills being totally worthlesss isn't ideal, but instead of improving the game mechanic like you would normally do in a sequel they just removed it But you aren't interested in actually discussing, just making dismissive statements and leaving I think my position is fairly well reasoned and well stated. Meanwhile, Tep comes in here with this: " you. Diablo 2 with enough potions you could probably just go in there level one and finish the game." and I don't know what I am talking about? and Dave Ten plus years and they launched a game with no PVP, major balance issues (as in Demon Hunters and Barbarians rampaging through the game), a game breaking bug, and enough server issues to where most people couldn't play. Then they added the DRM and the auction house. I dunno how that looks to you, but I know how it looks to me. After the Acti merger and what they have done to SC2 and WoW, I don't think giving them the benefit of the doubt is reasonable. |

You are ignoring what I have written. I freely admitted that I am not in a position to judge the overall quality of the game, but you can't fucking tell me I am wrong about how I feel regarding specific design choices. You cannot tell me the new health system is not a loss of depth. You cannot tell me that the removal of consequences for skill and stat allocations is not a removal of depth. You cannot tell me that the removal of the identification system and town portal scroll system is not a removal of depth. Again, if you like the new style better, fine. If those particular gameplay elements didn't do it for you, fine. But I understand what I want out of a game. To say that D2's skill tree is flawed is fair. To say it is better to remove the system altogether rather than improve it is where I disagree. There should still be consequences. Your choices should still matter. It should be possible to fail. |

I almost think that I should play this game just so I have something to say. Not worth $60 just for that though. I did however play the Torchlight Demo, fun stuff. Way more personality. And we've got a cheap Jewel Case one at work somewhere...only one though. I'll have to dig around next week. |

you gave me 3 cannots i shall answer them 1. new health system requires more attention, the old system you could just spam full rejuve and get through a LOT the new system requires you to PAY ATTENTION because you can. not. spam. heal. 2. the stat/skill system is just completely different, the old system allowed for "builds", the new system allows for you to choose the better skill for the weapons/situation you find yourself in. it's definitely less deep if you approached the old system with a pokemon EV/IV type devotion, elsewise it's more deep. In the old system I, at least, was just like *FIND GOOD SKILL, DUMP 20 POINTS IN* New system is like each skill levels up randomly so you can stick with an old skill with a modifier, or try a new skill, or try an even older skill with a newly unlocked modifier. 3. shut the fuck up rofl town portal scrolls and id scrolls did not in any way do anything but mean that occasionally you were fucking trapped and had to walk to town LOL that is retarded |

yeah, i'll agree it was *nice* to find a build that worked but... i had a barbarian that got to mount arreat on hell difficulty AND COULD NOT PROGRESS that kind of pissed me off, i, of course, never used online skill guides because i'm not a douche, but it would have been nice to continue on |

No, it doesn't. Not being able to "spam heal" is not a rebuttal to anything I said. It doesn't address the inventory management with the potions, it doesn't address the fact that being able to freely heal after pretty much every battle means that you never have to plan for your long term survival. The part you wrote about the skill system isn't even in opposition to what I wrote. Being able to endlessly respec and change your skills removes the impact of having to choose between them in the first place. I played the game dozens of times on every difficulty and with every character, and never once was I unable to progress. I agree that it is a flaw for a game to have such an unbalanced skill tree, but the fact is it still allows for variation in the way you play the game and adds weight to your choices. All they have done with the new game is cop out. Instead of advancing the old system and rebalancing it they just removed it. |
