It is wating at home for me, but I won't be back at my real non-college home for about a week and a half for spring break. This game pretty much will be my spring break.

Once the price drops a little bit I'll get it. Too bad it's not on Steam or I could wait for some fancy deal.

Origin is always giving me coupons. I'll let you know next time.

Despite my vast amounts of hate for Bioware even I have to admit they stepped their game WAY up for Mass Effect 3. The gameplay, writing and overall structure are much improved.

Though I haven't actually checked to see what my employee discount looks like on it. Probably like $5-9 off. That's what it usually is.

$51? That isn't full price. I figure that might be worth it. (When I get my new PC together anyway and finish messing around with Skyrim)

Supporting on disc DLC is for the loss. Buy that shit used or pirate the shit out of it.

No, because buying it new tells BioWare that online pass for single player content, on disc DLC, and retailer exclusive preorder DLC are acceptable. BioWare is just as bad with DLC as Capcom.

I have no plans to buy any DLC. And the online pass thing sucks since my brother was using my copies of the first two to play them. But he can always just use my account.

By buying the game you validate the concept. Then you end up getting less content the next time around with a new purchase because they've decided to section off an even bigger portion of the completed game to sell as DLC or hide behind an Online Pass. Just remember why it happened when the next BioWare title locks out local multiplayer or holds a canonical ending hostage behind paid DLC, because that's where we're heading.

So even if you don't think it affects you because you don't plan on buying the DLC, it still does. By supporting this game you rob yourself of content in all future games and you continue to support the erosion of consumer rights and gaming as an art medium. EA has said multiple times that they want games to be a service rather than an art form or individual products, and you people are driving us toward that end.

I swear to Christ you need a Fox news style pundit show sometimes.

Unfortunately my ESP isn't what it used to be so I can't say what the future holds. But what I can say is I enjoyed Mass Effect 1 and 2 (to a lesser extent from a gameplay standpoint) So it is very likely that I will enjoy #3 to some extent. The only thing that really irks me is that they are making me sign up for a service I don't want. But I'll just give my account info to my brother so he can play it. So one is getting played free in a way, we'll call it a wash. I won't buy the DLC and I'll judge the game on what is there. It's all I can do. I won't deprive myself of something I'll enjoy simply to make some lofty stand on something that in the grand scheme of the universe means a bit less then zero. Yeah online pass sucks...but I'll live. It's not like EA has any other games I really want anyway.

Never in this thread did I say you shouldn't play the game if you want to play it. I said you shouldn't give money directly to EA or BioWare. Buy it used, pirate it, rent it, borrow it, whatever.

The way I figure it, buying it at store cost is about the same. I mean the store breaks even on it. Nobody makes a thing! Though it's more me being cheap then anything else.

A new copy sold is a new copy sold.

Once it hits our shelves BioWare has already been paid for it regardless. Your purchase makes a difference because future shipments as well as budget and planning for future titles will be affected by sell-through.

For example, MadWorld sold over 600,000 units worldwide, but it was considered a major bomb at launch because they didn't sell even half of their launch shipment. That means most copies of the game were sold at a discount and thus the market for future titles of the same type on Wii shrank.

Like I said, it's going to get worse as a direct result of people buying this game new.

Publishers are like children. You can't reinforce negative behavior.

If people had stood up to BioWare when they first pulled the Online Pass for single player and on-disc DLC bullshit with Dragon Age 1 we wouldn't even be discussing this.

Just like if people had told Capcom to shove it up their ass when they started charging for palette swaps in SFIV, SF x T wouldn't have shipped with about a game and a half's worth of on-disc DLC.

Things like Operation Rainfall prove that publishers will get the message if enough people send the right message, but unfortunately too many people have the "it doesn't affect me" attitude. Eventually they'll start holding something you DO care about hostage, and by then it will be too late.
