Source: 3DS Buzz Even if I did manage to order a 3DS this past week, shipping would have likely pushed it past that date. Also, making it cost money after the early adopter period is one thing, but taking the game down entirely, forever as far as we know? What the fuck were they thinking? Four Swords has generally been quite inaccessible, what with the original incarnation requiring four people with GBAs and A Link to the Past, along with three link cables. Very, very unlikely to ever happen. Giving it away to DSi and 3DS owners was a great way to get around that, but now they're making it just as inaccessible again by this move. The greater problem this hints at, of course, is just how permanent a digitally-distributed game really is...this could only be the tip of the iceberg approaching decades from now, when the eShop and Wi-Fi Connection/Nintendo Network are gone and downloading ANYTHING is out of the question, much like that Game Boy cell phone connection service in Japan long before it. |
