Can't believe the Sox pulled off a trade sending Agon, Crawford, and Beckett to the Dodgers for a few decent prospects. I've always liked Agon, even if I think he's a tad overrated and overpaid, but I will not lose any sleep over Crawford and Beckett hitting the road. I guess it's time to rebuild in Boston now that over $250 million in salary has been dumped on the Dodgers and we have very few truly good players left. Oh, and they'd better fire that idiot Bobby Valentine in the offseason.

I would trade you two Jim Tracys and a first round pick for Valentine, and I don't hold Valentine in high regard at all.

The 2012 regular season is mercifully at an end for the Red Sox. Miguel Cabrera won the triple crown, which is pretty awesome, hasn't been done in 45 years, and not since 1927 in the NL for whatever reason. I still think Mike Trout deserves the AL MVP though.

That's absurd. Trout had a great season but he missed the playoffs and if a god damn Triple Crown doesn't bank you the award nothing will.

Angels had a better record than the Tigers and played in a tougher division, so to me the playoff argument is moot. Trout's batting average was essentially the same as Cabrera's, and his power numbers were great considering he played 81 games in what ESPN's park factor considers to be the fourth-worst ballpark for hitters (read that somewhere, haven't actually checked). Trout is by far the better defender and baserunner, Cabrera is a liability in both of those aspects. Trout's WAR is also an absurd 10.4.

Not trying to take away from Cabrera's accomplishment, it's fucking incredible. Trout was more the more valuable player though.

Yeah, no.

You can't win the first Triple Crown in over 40 years and not be MVP.
