Source: Strategy Informer You know an anti-cheat system has failed when this sort of thing happens... Oh, and before I forget: Crysis 1 used PunkBuster. Didn't work with the 64-bit executable, and it apparently didn't do shit as far as stopping rampant cheating in multiplayer, either. I'm talking people noclipping around at super speed, using SMGs that fire ROCKETS. No wonder it died off quick. Edited by NamelessFragger, Tuesday Jan 24 2012, 08:23 PM.

It wasn't PB it was GGC stream. Near as I can tell, they are spoofing BF3 player id's (which they farmed from 24/7 OP METRO servers) to GGC stream, getting those players banned by punkbuster on all GGC streaming servers. |

I appreciate the clarification there. Still, it's a shame that the playerbase is being hit like this. It actually makes me sort of glad I'm skipping BF3, though I hope they don't figure out a way to do this to the older Battlefield games (BF1942 and BF2 especially). My take on this is 1. This group is attacking one of the more effective anti cheating measures out there (I don't mean terms of internal integrity but GGC stream and services like it are really good at ruining a hacker's efforts) I take this as a good sign because they are trying to interdict a service that obviously threatens them. 2. The majority of the affected players are the scum of the community. Those 24/7 metro servers are where bad players go to stat pad, it is a shame that this happened but it couldn't have happened to a more deserving group of players. |
