CBS Sports Network has recently made a large commitment to the sport of lacrosse. In 2010 the network started airing college lacrosse games. Then, on 11/7/11, the network signed its first deal with a professional league:
http://insidelacrosse.com/news/2011/11/07/major-league-lacrosse-cbs-sports-network-ink-national-television-deal Major League Lacrosse is the highest level of outdoor lacrosse in the world, with eight teams playing in 2012 (Denver Outlaws, Boston Cannons, Chesapeake Bayhawks, Hamilton Nationals, Long Island Lizards, and the expansion Charlotte Hounds and Ohio Machine. CBS Sports has also invested in another lacrosse league:
http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/news/2011/11/15/nll-lands-2-year-tv-deal-with-cbs.html Also significant for the NLL is that they have the opportunity to actually make money from this deal. Last year the league had some games on Versus, but it turns out they actually had to pay the network for airtime. With this new deal, the league itself and the network itself will both try to sell advertising for the games and each group will keep the results of their sales. Never in the history of the NLL has the league actually made money from a TV contract. CBS also has the option to flex any games of their choosing from the cable network to their normal, over-the-air broadcast network. The NLL is the top level of indoor lacrosse in the world, with nine teams playing next season (Colorado Mammoth, Calgary Roughnecks, Buffalo Bandits, Washington Stealth, Edmonton Rush, Minnesota Swarm, Philadelphia Wings, Toronto Rock, and Rochester Knighthawks). This is huge for lacrosse as a whole. Between college, MLL, and NLL the sport will have a consistent and weekly presence across national TV, internet streaming, local TV, and radio. Never before has the game been given the opportunity for this level of exposure. So yeah. Watch some lacrosse this year. |

Most Mammoth games are on live on Altitude anyway. I think this deal is more important in struggling markets like Washington and Rochester, where their teams struggle for local tv/radio/newspaper coverage. |

Usually on Altitude, though sometimes on tape delay. The ones not on tv are streamed free on ESPN3.com. |
