Can't agree with you on the last point, but I also hope the Rangers go down, regardless of the result of the B's series.

Also

A Jose Theodore v Craig Anderson playoff series would really make the Avs look like dicks, at least in the short term. I really hope Varlamov puts it together for a whole season next year. He is wildly inconsistent so far but he is quite young.

Don't forget about Brian Elliot, though I suppose he did little to inspire confidence last year.

Anyone who's been following the playoffs needs to check out the Photoshop thread(s) over at HFBoards. Some funny shit in there.

Quebec/Seattle should be happy receiving a team with a bright future. I know my feelings will be bittersweet if I ever see a Nordiques jersey out on the ice at the Pepsi Center.

On a more Avs-related note, all-around professional guesser Euklund is firing off rumors, and for once I hope he's right:
HockeyBreak

One source put it this way..."There are going to be a whole lot of disappointed teams when it comes to Suter. The places he wants to go are very limited." It appears that the Canadian teams, as well as the Eastern Conference big teams won't be able to just throw money at Suter after all. From various sources I have heard that he wants to either stay in Nashville or sign with either Colorado, Detroit, or Minnesota. When the playoffs began I would have put the chances of Suter signing in Nashville about 70%, however now I would say 45% that Suter returns....which, while it is a higher percentage than I would give to him signing with any other specific team, means I now feel the chances are slightly greater he is leaving Nashville.
Ignoring his godawful track record, Euklund's reasoning behind the rumor is based in truth and any news indicating the Avs have a shot at Suter is good news to me. Signing him would be an enormous step forward and would solidify our top pairing for years to come.

Looks like Gagne will be available for the Kings in the Finals. They aren't sure whether they will actually use him or not, considering how far they've come without him.

I would, though.

Rumors floating around that the NHL has an alternate schedule out there with Quebec on it in place of Phoenix.

I would be very surprised if a relocation isn't announced inside of 30 days.

Shame for Pheonix, their team gets to the Western Conference finals and then is taken away from them, at least that seems to be what will happen. Not sure how well the team was supported, but a shame for the fans I'm sure are out there.

^^Phoenix has been dead last in attendance for years upon years and has required hundreds of millions of dollars in government subsidies to avoid relocation for the last four seasons.

So Jones gets overpaid and Hunwick gets two more years. Awesome. Sherman knows he's supposed to negotiate with players and not just grant them any contract they demand, right?

Ed- Oh thank God... apparently the Hunwick signing is NOT official. Fucking Twitter.

Kings win the Stanley Cup.

Last team to qualify for the playoffs. Lost more games than they won. Incredible.

Yeah, I've been watching the last several games of the season and then the postseason because of how well the Rangers were doing. All my friends would ever talk about was Lundqvist and Gaborik and Callahan and they badgered me into watching -__-

So it turns out hockey isn't as bad as I thought. Playoff games can be fun. And while I wanted the Rangers to win the cup, I'm happy the Kings did, because fuck NJ and their faggot ass fans.

Happy to see Quick, a UMass alum, win the cup. And it is cool to see a team I doubt anyone expected to win the cup be the ones to bring it home, and rather easily at that.

Pisses me off that the Avs had a better regular season record than them, beat them in all four of their matchups and still didn't make to the post-season. But the Kings were by and large the best performers for the duration of the playoffs. They deserve it.

Rumors are flying on HFboards and twitter that the Coyotes are done, and Tuesday is the day. Nordiques are back.

No idea if it's true. I expect it to happen eventually, but there isn't any reputable source tied to it yet.

It could be related to this New York Post reporting that Bettman is preparing for the NHL to seize control of the Devils from their incompetent owner (how the fuck do you lose money with hockey in New Jersey?), buy him out of his outstanding debt, and sell the team themselves to a better owner.

If that happens, I doubt the NHL will want to own two of the league's franchises at once. They wouldn't do it last year and the Thrashers became the Jets. So I think this could be related, and the Devils sitiuation has moved up a deadline from that gong show between the NHL/guy trying to buy the team who has no money/small town city council willing to spend half a billion in taxpayer money subdizing a hockey team that loses 35 million dollars a year/Barry Goldwater Institute suing the city for subsidizing the hockey team because the AZ constitution prohibits shit like this.
