that's one of the best parts of a live hockey game
This was different. I couldn't hear myself cheer.

I've been to hundreds of loud hockey games but nothing compared to a Broncos game at the old Mile High. That fucking stadium was insane, all the time.

New Mile High is still loud as fuck, but the old stadium had so much more going for it. The floors under the upper decks were metal instead of cement, so when you stomped it made more noise. Plus the cheap seats, the South Stands, were field level. Poor people are drunker and louder than rich people.

avs lost

no playoffs

nothing left now but to root against Detroit
Post-season rant incoming...

Man, what a disappointing year. The Avs had all the tools to make it to the playoffs, but inexperience, poor coaching and injuries plagued us, once again. Sherman needs to do everything in his power to sign Suter in the off-season; Parise and Doan being second and third priority, respectively. With Duke almost assuredly retiring, we need a real leader to fill the role and teach this young core how to win key hockey games (ie early divisional matchups) and any of them would be excellent choices until Lando or O'Reilly eventually earn the captaincy.

I still don't understand how statistically our defense was one of the best and our offense was one of the worst. I can't count how many unforgivable mistakes the D made this season and Sherman's philosophy of quantity over quality was their downfall this season. Any time you have a guy like Matt Hunwick playing on your top-pairing you should know you're doing something wrong. I have almost zero concerns about our offense going into next season, however, assuming Duchene and Downie return to form 100% healthy. When you look at the four lines we're rolling with right now, it's tough to spot a weakness, especially considering our prospect pool. If Hishon can recuperate from his concussion and make camp, we'll have another pure skill guy that could contribute immediately. I also have no doubt that Sgarbossa will make a strong case for a starting roster spot. Dude's small, but he was the leading scorer in the OHL this season with 47 goals and 55 assists in 66 games. You don't earn those numbers by accident.

The news that Sacco will return next season was disappointing, but he should be on a short leash and it's not like there's any quality options out there at the moment anyway. The biggest concern is all of our expiring contracts. Duchene, Mueller, O'Reilly, Downie, McGinn, and Johnson are all RFAs, while Jones and McClement are both unrestricted. We absolutely cannot lose any of these guys, and management's history of penny pinching in these very situations has me worried, especially considering the CBA doesn't expire until well into the offseason. Hopefully they finally realize they're almost last in the league in payroll and can in fact afford to take on some big contracts. Otherwise we'll tread water with our current group, or worse, lose some of our core. Sherman has been phenomenal trade-wise this season, so I have faith he'll make the right decisions. Only one thing's for certain- it's gonna be one long ass offseason.

Sacco gets a 2-year extension because he "earned" it. Jesus Christ...

I still think its funny how many Bruins fans wanted to run Claude Julien out of town last year, and had the Bruins lost in the first round of the playoffs, he probably would been fired. Now he probably has one of the most secure jobs in the league.

Bruins won 1-0 in overtime. I missed most of the game, but managed to catch the last half of the third and OT. Pretty awesome, and a much better start than going down 0-2 again like they did last year in the first round.

And the Penguins continue to display why they are the most classless, disgraceful organization in the NHL. The only things they deserve at this point are suspensions, fines and a clean sweep.

Caps are all over the B's, too. Lots of potential upsets.

The B's can't seem to get any offense going. Got to give the Caps credit, I didn't think they were so tough defensively.

Bruins ended up winning 4-3. Great win, but like last year, the Bruins power play is amazingly atrocious. I'm not sure they can get away with that two years in a row.

Seven goals in the first period of Flyers/Pens. This series is just ridiculous.

Go Ottawa. The 8 seeds are tough this year. The Kings might eliminate the Canucks tonight. That would be sweet.

And 10 fucking goals for the Pens? U srs bro?

Where is the defense in the Pens-Flyers series? Where is the goaltending? Seems like they are combining for at least 10 goals a game.
