Last season there were rumblings of "super conferences" when it looked like the Big 12 was on its deathbed. Nebraska bailed to the Big 10 and Colorado moved to the Pac-10 (now Pac-12).

Meanwhile, Utah left the Mountain West for the Pac-12 and BYU left the Mountain West to become an independent. TCU also agreed to leave the Mountain West for the Big East, but will not do so until the 2013 season.

Boise State moved to the Mountain West to replace BYU for 2012. In 2013 Fresno State, Nevada, and Hawaii will follow their former WAC mates to the MWC, replacing Utah and TCU.

Staying with me so far?

There were further rumors about teams like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M leaving the Big 12 as well. Those rumors died down when Texas decided not to go, as realignment plans at the time would have interfered with the school starting its own TV network.

Guess what? Texas A&M is leaving the Big 12 for the SEC in June of 2012. Many expect that as a result Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, and Texas Tech will jump to the Pac-12, creating a 16-team, 2-division conference.
Pac-16 West:
Oregon, Oregon State, USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, Washington, Washington State

Pac-16 East:
Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Arizona State, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State

Such an alignment would leave the Big 12 looking like this:
Kansas
Kansas State
Iowa State
Baylor
Missouri

So what the fuck happens to those teams? No clue. Missouri might be a candidate for the Big 10, following Nebraska. The other four could be courted by the WAC or MWC, but it's hard to say.

I just can't take college football seriously. It's good to see some of the better teams from the non-power conferences getting a shot at the big guys, but even so, with all the corruption that has been uncovered in recruitment lately and the blatant favoritism given to the big name schools, college football is a joke.

Can't believe Baylor beat TCU.

Utah State gave Auburn a pretty big scare, too.

My Air Force Falcons won their first game earlier today, and I am currently watching my Colorado State Rams play New Mexico.

Boise State beat the hell of out Georgia, Notre Dame lost to South Florida, #4 LSU beat the shit out of #4 Oregon. Oregon State lost to Sacramento State.

Colorado lost to Hawaii by 20. Funny (my brother likes CU, so I like to see them lose).

Colorado State beat Northern Colorado, 33-14. UNC is a I-AA school, so no big surprise there.

Air Force anal bleeding by 16 to #25 TCU.

Colorado anal bleeding to Cal in OT.

Next week is the Rocky Mountain Showdown, Colorado State vs Colorado in Denver (at the Broncos' stadium).

Go Rams.

More realignment talk

Syracuse and Pitt have agreed to leave the Big East for the ACC, and UConn is in discussions to do the same. If UConn leaves as well, that would mean the Big East would look like this for football:
Cincinnati
Louisville
Rutgers
South Florida
West Virginia
TCU (coming from the Mountain West)

I bet TCU is regretting their decision to leave the MWC right about now.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M to the SEC and Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech to the Pac-12 are pretty much sure bets at this point.

That leaves the Big 12 with:
Kansas State
Kansas
Iowa State
Missouri
Baylor

One would assume that the Big East would go after the two Kansas schools hard, as they can't possibly continue with a six team football conference.

Missouri seems like a likely candidate to join A&M in the SEC, so that leaves Baylor and Iowa State without a home. Conference USA? Mountain West? WAC? MAC? Who knows?

Air Force beat Navy in a hell of an OT game.

Arkansas came back from a huge deficit to beat Texas A&M.

That's 2 of my 3 teams with a win today. Now Colorado State has to beat SJSU.

I called an Alabama win, but I didn't think it would be 21-0.

I can't believe LSU left that shitball excuse for a quarterback in there. They never should have even let him back on the team.
