I do agree that the Giants are probably the hotter team right now. I think the game will come down to how well the Patriot's defense plays. If they play like the 31st ranked defense, they'll lose. If they can play like an average defense, and if Brady plays well enough, they'll win. Or they could just get really lucky with turnovers like many teams have this postseason.

I don't think being average will be enough to beat the Giants. The Falcons have a well above-average defense and the Giants blew them out.

The Packers lost by 17 and their defense is very similar to New England's.

New England:
411.1 YPG (31st)
293.9 PYPG (31st)
117.1 RYPG (17th)
21.4 PPG (15th)

Green Bay:
411.6 YPG (32nd)
299.9 PYPG (32nd)
111.8 RYPG (14th)
22.4 PPG (19th)

Eli Manning's last four games:
vs Dallas - 346 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT
vs Atlanta - 277 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT
vs Green Bay - 330 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT
vs San Francisco - 316 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT

He is going to shred that Patriots pass defense.

As for the Patriots offense, they have GOT to contain the Giants' pass rush or they're toast. The Giants' defense wasn't really healthy until the end of the year, but they're giving up only 13.4 points per game over their last five versus the #1, 7, 11, 13, and 15 scoring offenses in the league.

I am not counting Brady out by any means, but if both teams play the way they've been playing the Giants are going to win.

I suppose I agree with you to an extent. The Giants are playing lights out football right now, and I do not head into the game very confident, but I doubt many Giants fans are brimming with confidence either. One thing the Patriots do have going for them is the revenge factor, as I imagine Belichick and Brady will go out of their minds to make sure they don't lose to the Giants again, but that's more of a subjective thing I may be buying into as a Pats fan.

I think another thing to watch will be the health of Rob Gronkowski. He'll play regardless, but if that ankle limits him that'll be a big blow to the Patriots, for sure.

Yeah, if Gronk can't shake man coverage the Pats are screwed.

Random stat I find interesting: The Patriots and Giants are a combined 12-1 all time in conference championship games.

Anyone else want to offer up some Super Bowl predictions? As a Pats fan I am biased and cannot pick against them, so I'll say 24-20 Pats, same score as the earlier game this season with the opposite result.

Well in '07 the Pats won the regular season matchup, and then lost the SB, so if you are going to use this year's regular season result as part of your argument...

Okay rapid reaction time:

lol @ the Patriots giving up a safety on their first play. Who gives up safeties in the Super Bowl on their first play? Tom "greatest quarterback ever" Brady ought to have gotten it done

Outside of that TD catch, Cruz wasnt as big of a factor as I expected. Double coverage would tend to do that. Good news is, NICKS picked up the slack

Manning-to-Manningham was as great as Manning-to-Tyree.

I didn't expect much from the rushing game, but both Bradshaw and Jacobs averaged a little over 4 yards/carry. That's ok

JPP all day!!! he was just as worthy of the MVP ring. Tuck and Osi U had big games too. They forced incompletions of the gods.

Yeah, Wes Welker dropped an important pass. So what? NY recievers dropped important 3rd down passes themselves.

Gronk clearly wasn't anywhere close to 100% for this game. I'm not gonna go hard enough to say the Pats lost cause of that injury last week, but a healthy Gronk could've changed the whole game. To the Pats' credit, Hernandez put in mad work.

lol @ Brady thinking he can pull off a Manning-to-Tyree. Nice pick though :>

lol @ Brady thinking he can pull off a Hail Mary like Eli can

lastly, Eli > Peyton, officially. Inconsistency be damned, two Super Bowl wins > one Super Bowl win. Peyton can have all the MVP awards he wants, Eli gets it done on the stage that matters the most: the playoffs. Winning it all takes precedent over being MVP.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

Eli Manning is a great quarterback, but you can't only measure a QB by his Super Bowl victories. Is Ben Roethlisberger better than Brett Favre? Is Trent Dilfer better than Dan Marino? Is Troy Aikman better than Johnny Unitas? Is Brad Johnson as good as Aaron Rodgers?

Eli COULD finish his career as the better quarterback, but as of this moment it isn't even close.

Peyton is an 11 time Pro Bowler, 8 time All-Pro, 6 time AFC Offensive Player of the Year, and 4 time NFL MVP. He has 11 4,000 yard seasons (most all-time), 13 consecutive seasons with at least 25 TD (most all-time), nearly 55,000 passing yards, a career 65% completion percentage, and almost 400 touchdowns.

Peyton Manning is in that "best ever" class along with Elway, Montana, Favre, Unitas, and Brady. Those are the only six guys with a legitimate claim to that title.

Yeah, its tough to argue that Eli is better than Peyton at this point. Eli has been the better playoff QB for sure, given his overall record and higher SB total. But Peyton has accomplished so much just in general that even having the SB disadvantage to his brother does not make him the less skilled QB. Eli still has time though, for sure.

For me it's
1. John Elway
2. Joe Montana
3. Brett Favre
4. Peyton Manning
5. Tom Brady
6. Johnny Unitas

Honorable mention: Steve Young, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Namath, Warren Moon, Dan Marino, Kurt Warner, probably Drew Brees and Eli Manning eventually

Pats lost the same way they lost last time to the Giant: in the last couple minutes or so. Painful.

I remember four or five times this season the retards on ESPN were "debating" whether Tony Romo or Eli Manning was the better quarterback in the NFC East.

I was like, have you ever seen either of them play? Tony Romo is 95% hype.
