Wow. I mean, wow. Everyone knows we can't throw, and we just keep winning anyway. Tebow is an amazing runner and an absolute gamer. Still not convinced he can be a quarterback in this league, but he sure is fun to watch.

Looks like Jay Cutler is out for the year. He broke his thumb trying to make a tackle on a guy who picked off one of his passes (how appropriate).

And I can't believe how far the Buffalo Bills have fallen. They've been blown out three straight weeks and will pretty much be eliminated from playoff contention if they lose to the Jets next week.

I love to see Cutler get hurt, but I was hoping it would happen when he came to Denver in a few weeks.

But at least I can root for the Bears now. Caleb Hanie went to Colorado State, so I hope he does well.

I'm pretty sure he's known for beating opponents into the dirt even if they are 20 points ascrotum snort and there's only 2 minutes left in a game.

They are professional athletes, paid to play the game. I've never understood why people get upset over the offense doing its job, which is to score points. If the defense gets upset, they should do something about it, like they are paid to. I'd find it more insulting as a defensive player if the offense decided to just kneel on the ball every down, because that's almost saying "Aww, sorry the game didn't go your way, we'll take it easy on you."

The whole concept of feeling bad for a professional sports team that gets points scored against it is asinine to me. These are professional athletes, let me remind you, paid more money than any of us will likely make in 20 years or maybe out lifetimes. Belicheck knows this, and he'll use any opportunity to get his offense more snaps and more experience (let it do is job), which I think is the right philosophy. Letting the foot off the gas unless absolutely necessary is a losing philosophy.

Not that I am agreeing, but I have always thought that the core idea behind opposition to running up scores was sportsmanship. To set an example. I have seen youth football games where coaches were calling time outs with 2 minutes left so that they could score one extra touchdown to win by 50. It's one thing when we're talking about paid professionals, but a different thing entirely when we're talking about children.

I think I do sort of expect sportsmanship from professionals. I mean, they're fucking grown men. If they can't put aside their competitive nature for five seconds and have a handshake at the end of the game, they can fuck off. They're getting paid millions to play a child's game, so the least they can do is show a little class.

I understand that athletes shouldn't be expected to be role models for our children, and also that if your children are looking at athletes for guidance then you've failed as a parent. But kids will still emulate their sports idols. Every kid in the world has, at some point, pretended to be John Elway/Willie Mays/Michael Jordan/Wayne Gretzky in their backyard.

Running up the score in anything but a division I college game (where the ridiculous BCS system almost necessitates it) or an NFL game is ridiculous, and anyone who encourages that is a terrible person. There certainly is something to be said for sportsmanship, but I don't think scoring points violates professional sportsmanship, except in those rare cases like the Saints 62-7 win over Indy. That crosses the threshold of absurdity.

The bigger problems I think are things like refusing to shake hands after the game, like you brought up. True professionals should be able to set aside what happened on the field and be able to at least be civil with one another after the game is over, but more and more that doesn't seem to be happening. I mean, the whole Jim Shwartz-Jim Harbaugh fiasco was ridiculous, and Todd Haley yelling at opposing coaches after the game for god knows what sets a bad example. Players making late hits and trying to hurt one another sets a bad example. Ridiculous showboating after scores sets a bad example, far worse than the score itself.

I do see how "running up the score" can set a bad example to an extent, but anyone with half a brain should realize these are professionals, and they operate by different rules. When the game really is being played for fun more than anything else, I'd agree that scoring excessive points is a bad thing. But there are plenty of really stupid people out there that don't recognize that, I guess.

Apparently the Texans might sign either Jeff Garcia or Trent Edwards. I had no ides Jeff Garcia was still playing; what is the guy, 41 now?

And I wonder where Kyle Orton will end up. I was surprised the Broncos waived him, I figured they'd keep him around and try to trade him in the offseason (unless his contract runs out or something).

Yeah, Orton's contract is up.

If I were the Redskins, Texans, Bears, Dolphins, or Chiefs I'd sign him immediately.

Ndomakong Suh can no longer claim he isn't a dirty player. That stance of his is now an impossible one to argue.

Still can't believe the Broncos are one game out of 1st place in their division. Big game today.

The Patriots easily beat the Eagles. I'm surprised the offense played as good as it did given the secondary the Eagles feature, but I'm not complaining. Weird how the opposing QB throws for 400 yards in an easy win, but I guess that can happen when the last 25 minutes of the game are essentially garbage time against a poor secondary.

Another week, another win which Tebow will get entirely too much credit for.

Broncos offensive points per game (no defensive or ST TDs) with Orton as a starter:
vs 7-4 Oakland: 13
vs 7-4 Cincinnati: 24
vs 6-5 Tennessee: 14
vs 11-0 Green Bay: 23
average: 19 PPG

Defensive points allowed per game with Orton:
vs Oakland: 23
vs Cincinnati: 22
vs Tennesee: 17
vs Green Bay: 42
average: 26 PPG

Offensive points per game with Tebow as starter:
vs 3-8 Miami: 18
vs 7-4 Detroit: 10
vs 7-4 Oakland: 31
vs 4-5 Chiefs: 17
vs 6-5 Jets: 10
vs 4-7 San Diego: 16
average: 16 PPG

Broncos defensive points allowed per game with Tebow:
vs Miami: 15
vs Detroit: 31
vs Oakland: 24
vs Kansas City: 10
vs New York: 6
vs San Diego: 13
average: 17 PPG

The Broncos are scoring fewer points against worse teams since Tebow took over. The reason we are winning is because the defense has been 9 PPG better since Tebow came in.
