Wow, a 4-team blockbuster. Don't see that very often. I'm not thrilled that the Nuggets gave up three big pieces for a sub-par superstar, but the front office has been high on him for a while now and he seems to fit the mold. Hopefully he ends up liking the team and doesn't bolt after one season. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. Edit: Just learned the pick is protected, making this a much, much better deal in my mind. A starting lineup of Lawson, Gallinari, Iguodala, Faried and McGee ain't too shabby. Three big pieces? Subpar? Iguodala is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, he passes well, and he can score. He's essentially replacing Afflalo, and he's better than AA in every way. Harrington has been good for us and it sucks to see him go, but he's 36 and would only be taking minutes from the much younger Mcgee, Randolph, Faried, Koufos, Mozgov, and izzet (draft pick). We actually have depth at the PF and C positions. And as for the draft pick... chances are it will be a low one and we have enough young guys already. |

Calling him a subpar superstar is a compliment more than anything else. Most would consider him a great player while I find him to be considerably underrated, very much near superstar-tier. He just needs some consistent confidence in his offensive game, something Lawson suffers from as well. If both can manage that this season the Nuggets will be a force. I'm still very happy with the trade, despite the fact that he has the ability to become a UFA at season's end. |
