This community seems to be pretty tight-knit, so I'll go ascrotum snort and assume some of you live in Colorado. And if you do live in Colorado, you're either an Avs fan or queer. If you're of the lesser (or both, we don't discriminate), discuss anything in relation to the Avs or the NHL here. Hockey's back, bitches. Edited by Brokemon, Saturday Oct 8 2011, 08:38 AM.

I'd give him at least another season, maybe two, depending on how well we do this year.. but the longer he sticks around, the better. Not many guys his age can still put up the points like he can. |

Yeah, the Avs are a soft team and the amount of injuries they has last season is crystal clear evidence of that. But they're addressing it. The trade to acquire Erik Johnson was a good first step, and drafting either Larsson or Landeskog will be a good second. |

Take this with a grain of salt, but rumor has it that Vokoun is interested in being signed by Colorado if he doesn't end up staying in Florida. This was said in a recent interview, but some people are claiming it was just a translation error. |

Speaking of the Avs, why did they trade away Chris Stewart and Craig Anderson mid-season? Stewart was on a tear before he broke his hand, and while he wasn't quite the same after he came back, it is hard to justify trading talent like that. Anderson carried the team on his back last season, and it was confusing to see him traded mid season even though he was struggling a bit, especially seeing how he turned it around almost immediately in Ottawa. The talent received didn't quite seem to match the talent leaving. What were you guy's perspectives on these trades at the time, since you'd likely know more than me as fans of the team? |

The Stewart/Johnson trade is still too early to tell. We received a young, potential franchise d-man in return, something the Avs desperately need (and have needed for quite some time). Stewart was one of the best scorers in the league leading up to December, sure, but a lot of people remain concerned about his defensive capabilities and drive. Not to mention that top-tier wingers are much more common than top-tier defensemen in free agency. It was a move that had to be made for the future. As for Andy, management offered him a reasonable deal leading into last season, and he declined thinking he was worth more. It was obvious by the time of the trade that he had basically given up on the team and just plain didn't care to play for us any more. He was a UFA, so unless we traded him, we would've ended up getting nothing in return. With the trade to Ottawa, we got netminder Brian Elliott in return, who pretty much sucked, but showed signs of brilliance here and there. He could be a good backup to whoever we sign/trade for in the offseason. Edited by Brokemon, Friday Jun 24 2011, 10:39 AM.

Lots of trade rumors surrounding Stastny and our 11th overall have been popping up. Apparently Toronto, LA, and Vancouver have inquired about Stazz and the 11th may be used to acquire a netminder such as Schneider or Bernier. I say nay to the lesser (unless we're receiving the likes of Schenn or JMFJ in return) and yay to the latter. Should be an interesting day. |

JML has been traded to Toronto for a 2nd round pick. Avs get bent over. Intense anal trauma going, Sherman. Edit: It's a 2012 2nd round pick. Even better. Doubledit: Boston's 2012 2nd round pick. Sherman is a fucking idiot. Edited by Brokemon, Friday Jun 24 2011, 02:56 PM.

Ha, if it were Toronto's, it would at least be early 2nd round. Now it's going to be late 2nd. Doesn't seem like the best they could have gotten for a 40+ point D-Man. |

They had better sign a good free agent defensemen and a goalie. |

They have to at this point. The Avs are now 20 mill under the cap FLOOR. Something big must be in the works. There's no other explanation to nuking another 4 mill of cap space. |

So the Avs took Landeskog with the #2. Now we have to see who they take at #11, if they don't trade it. |

Duncan Siemens is a bit of a surprise, but not a bad pick. We could definitely use the size. |

Now we just need a goalie and another defensemen. Another front line scorer would be sweet as well, but hopefully Hishon and Landeskog can step in there and get it done. There are a lot of Intense anal trauma young guys on this team. |

With the sheer amount of cap space the Avs have right now I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign Vokoun, a top-tier veteran defenseman and possibly even a top-tier veteran winger. July 1st can't come soon enough. |
