You should see the 3DS-hate/Vita-love on SW at Gamespot. It is becoming mind-numbing its so frequent. |

SW itself is mind-numbing. I'm surprised you can stand the place. |

Fuck... and I thought they were competent developers. Hell... I bought two copies of SoC (my physical copy broke) and the one copy of the second one (what was it called?) and never played it. |

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. release order: -Shadow of Chernobyl -Clear Sky (prequel) -Call of Pripyat General consensus is that Clear Sky is to be disregarded, while SoC and CoP excel once you mod the hell out of them. |

You can't play them? Don't you have a half-decent gaming computer to use? What's stopping you? (I hope it's not yet another laptop limited to Intel GMA graphics...) |

Acer netbook from 2009 and desktop with Celeron (P4 gen). Both have integrated graphics (essentially nothing) and neither can play Knights of the Old Republic or later games (the cutoff point I found from my whole library). |

The Escapist: Apple Voted Largest Influence On Gaming Industry Unfortunately, no, the article itself isn't any better than the scrotum snortline. |

Well, they kind of are. Mainstream gaming IS the iPhone and iPad. It is literally the face of gaming to non-gamers. |

Just found a blog comment worthy of bringing back this thread:
Okay, I can understand using a phone to browse the Web when you've got nothing else better to use, but if we're talking smartphones, those are often $600+ unsubsidized, or they will be after two years when the carrier's reamed you with high monthly fees. Besides, who would willingly pull out a phone to access the Web when they have full-fledged computers lying around to use? Edited by NamelessFragger, Thursday Jan 12 2012, 06:59 PM.

That's interesting. I never really though about it before but the math works out in favor of the tablet. A Droid X2 w/ 2 Year contract from Verizon is 100.00 The mid range data plan from Verizon is 50.00 per month so that works out to 1200.00 over two years. So 600.00 to 800.00 once for a tablet vs. 1300.00. initially, then 1200.00 every two years after that. The only draw back to the tablet route is you won't have connectivity every where you go, like you would with a smartphone on a 4g network. |

Please tell me you're not recommending a GeForce FX 5700...that whole line of cards was generally a bad idea, in terms of how much they suck at Shader Model 2.0 performance. Radeon 9800 or GeForce 6800 wouldn't be so bad, though (assuming the P4-era Celeron box has an AGP slot instead of PCI-Express). In fact, I have a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB that's not being used right now, if that would help. It'll handle KotOR fine. Edited by NamelessFragger, Thursday Jan 12 2012, 10:01 PM.
