Comment on Engadget: Nintendo 3DS clocks up 400,000 US sales in opening week "Phones have a lot more good games than the Wii does." Eh, I don't know about this...can't think of any standout titles for phones. Sure, many of them may be good, but are they GREAT like games on dedicated platforms tend to be? (Especially coming from Nintendo?) Though the Wii does seem a bit short when you look past first-party releases and don't count the GameCube backwards-compatibility... Obviously, this isn't the first instance I've read such comments. People seem to think that smartphones are a threat to everything that isn't converged-things like dedicated gaming devices, just because the games are cheap... |

they're cheap for a reason. NO ONE would pay more than a couple bucks for the shallow experiences you get on phones. |

That I'd have to agree on, but it seems that some people would prefer several shallow experiences compared to one or two deep experiences for the same money spent... ...or they just look at the graphics capabilities of something like an iPhone 4 trouncing the DS and PSP, not really caring so much about the gameplay. We all remember Iwata's statement about "preserving the value of games", or something to that extent, I'm sure. For me, it's never been a matter of cost, but value...and even old Game Boy games have more value to me than any phone game I've come across. |

that I would agree with. I don't think I could ever pay more than 2-3 bucks for tetris no matter the format. |

I wasn't talking Tetris so much as I was talking about stuff like Mole Mania, Zelda: Link's Awakening, etc. Simple games like that should stay cheap. |

I'd say making a few worth-ful $50 games is a lot better to a ton of $1 worth-ful games. Especially when those $1 games last no longer than a few minutes.[cleft=darkslategray][/cleft][cright=black][/cright][pleft=white][/pleft][dl=black][/dl] |
