There are rumors all over the internet, supposedly from different sources, indicating that Nintendo will debut its next home console at E3 in June.

The console is apparently already being shown to publishers.

Nintendo is looking at recapturing that mainstream, 13-35 male demographic that for the most part has shunned the Wii. They are also trying much harder to accomodate third party games, as we have seen with the 3DS launch (Nintendo specifically withheld Mario and Zelda from launch so that third parties could establish a foothold on the system). Here are the rumored features so far:
-1080p native resolution games
-Significantly more powerful than Xbox 360 or Playstation 3
-Fully backwards compatible with Wii software (and since Wii and Gamecube have such a similar architecture, GC compatibility isn't a stretch)

A Wii price cut is expected in May, along with a "pre-announcement" to hype up the E3 reveal.

If Nintendo can secure mainstream support from the major Western publishers, I really don't see Sony or Microsoft standing a chance at dethroning Nintendo from their sales lead. Nintendo already has incredible first party support and strong support from Japanese developers in general.

It will be interesting to see what kind of reaction this will illicit from Sony and Microsoft. Will they rush their next generation machines to market? The Xbox definitely seems to be winding down, but I think 2013 is the soonest you're going to see a new machine from either Sony or Microsoft. This will give Nintendo a similar advantage to the one Microsoft enjoyed this generation, and Sony last.

if the rumors are true and the Super Wii is backwards compatible with the Wii then Nintendo's not done with motion gaming.

They should announce it with a trailer to an amazingly beautiful F-Zero game that looks like a proper successor to GX with 30 people playable online. Wreck some bitches.

I don't see how anyone could have expected them to be done with motion gaming in the first place.

Kinect, Move, MotionPlus, iPhone/pad/pod, NGP, 3DS... It's pretty clear that motion controls are going to be part of this industry for the foreseeable future.

practically no one has used motion gaming to any good effect. The best thing to come out of the Wii's control scheme was IR aiming.

See:
Red Steel 2 (excellent use of pointer and motion)
Dance Central
Tiger Woods on Wii since '10
FaceRaiders
Wii Sports Resort
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
Sports Champions

There are plenty of games that I would consider inferior were it not for their usage of motion controls.

Motion gaming isn't going anywhere, but that doesn't mean it's going to replace traditional gamepads.

Moar rumors:
-The system supposedly will have an all-new controller with a built in HD screen. Compatibility with Wii Software would presumably be done via Bluetooth synching of stock Wii controllers, but that's just me speculating.

-Console will use Blu Ray for primary game storage.

-Third party launch titles are already in development

I'll buy it as long as it retains the Wii's capacity for ridiculous, off-the-radar games.

This reminds me of pre-Wii rumors stating that the Revolution would be much stronger than the 360 and PS3 and that it would use alll this crazy technology that made it super powerful and that its games would be so amazing looking and epic.

I certainly am not holding my breath for this.

Most of the Revolution speculation concerned the controller. I don't ever recall anyone suggesting it would be more powerful than PS3.

Moar rumors/info:
-Third parties have apparently had their development kits for months, which would definitely explain the Wii's sparse release calendar despite the fact that it is still outselling 360 worldwide.

-The system is supposed to have more advanced motion controls than either MotionPlus or Move, by a good margin

-Rumored to have similar architecture to Xbox 360, except more powerful. Triple Core PPC processor, Radeon R700 family (same series as the HD 4600, 4700, and 4800 cards) GPU with 4.1 shaders. On-board RAM is said to be a minimum of 512 MB, possibly 1-2 GB. No word on total system RAM

-Controller has a 6 inch touch screen and onboard storage, said to be not unlike Dreamcast VMU. Also has front facing camera, four shoulder buttons, ability to function as a Wii sensor bar (presumably for backwards compatibility purposes).

-Similarity to Xbox 360 architecture will make it easier for third parties to make games for both platforms.

-Gamecube b/c will be retained

-Huge focus of the system is ease of development for third parties.

-"Huge" surprise regarding the system still to come

"Dual analog sticks on the controller. Can stream game content from the console. Not sure if it'll be full games, mini-games, or apps. There will be first and third party "Wii 2" games at E3. No clue if they'll be playable." - IGN's Jim Reilly via Twitter

I was gonna post what my friend told me but it seems all the leaked info is right.

Also Fami he told me that motion will be apart of it, but a controller is taking the show this time around but there will be full motion controlled games which the controller will be able to do. Lord knows what the thing looks like.
