http://www.destructoid.com/street-fighter-iv-arcade-edition-is-a-14-99-dlc-add-on-198412.phtml 15 dollars dlc disc version coming june 24th PC version coming as well sounds awesome. With the AE update + the original disc it still doesnt total 60 dollars. I was thinking about skipping this one, but I dont think I can now. Its inexpensive, and its coming out on the PC which will give me many more people to play that I otherwise wouldnt. Now it all makes sense why they didnt release super for pc. Capcom is the greatest. Better than nintendo or sega combined. EDIT: SFxTekken is looking good too http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/apr/12/captivate-trailer-street-fighter-x-tekken/ Edited by Necrotrophic, Tuesday Apr 12 2011, 09:28 AM.

Why would the PC version mean you have more people to play? It isn't as if the online communities are connected. Also, weren't you saying how you didn't like the balance changes? Did Ono not say that this one was intentionally unbalanced? Anyway, this=DLC characters=bad for fighting games. |

People buy the PC versions if they dont want to buy another console. Plus you have the additional PC community Thats what happened with vanilla. Yes, I dont like the balance changes. Chun Li is nerfed. However I may just deal with it, the community and competition is whats important and if everyone comes back from marvel (which it seems like they will) then I will play it They arent DLC characters. Not only do they come with the full package DLC (You cannot buy them individually) they will all come on a disk based release. So this isnt really the same as what blazblue did |

It is still going to fracture the community and fuck up the core concept of balance. But apparently balance doesn't matter anyway to Ono, so whatever. I cannot take a fighting game with DLC characters seriously. I played BlazBlue, but I always considered it Guilty Gear's retarded cousin. |

the community by in large will remain untouched, as you have the ability to play people who only have super and not AE. Its a built in feature to be able to play the old version. As for balance, yes its intentionally unbalanced. However, almost no street fighter games are balanced with the exceptions of super sf4 and hyper fighting. So its not like this is new, capcom in general never balances games out well, and its how theyve always been. Id prefer it if AE was as balanced as super, but its not like it will destroy the game. Ive been playing sf games since i was like 2, and at this point im pretty much used to how capcom does it. |

Anyone who bought ssf4 3d edition and thought it was anything important is dumb. That game is beyond broken. Instant flash kicks, touch screen ultras? Its there as a tech demo, more or less. Also, nobody buys hand held fighters for a reason |

A certain number of the people who bought SSFIV will buy the update, and a certain number will not. That, to me, is a fracturing of the community. It's a way for Crapcom to hold this DLC over people's heads and make them buy it. And as for the balance... you're paying 15 dollars for a downgrade. Balance definitely isn't the only important part of a game, but the fact that they're making it LESS balanced on PURPOSE and then CHARGING for it tells me what I have known all along... Capcom doesn't care anymore and are only interested in milkage. And releasing a version of the game to 3DS owners on March 27 and then releasing a big upgrade on June 24 is a classy move. So yeah, you go ahead and pay 15 dollars for four characters, a few costumes, and a balance downgrade. |

That's retarded. You can play with the touch screen shortcuts on or off. If you don't want to play against someone using the shortcuts, you don't have to. The game isn't "broken" beyond being based on a shitty game in the first place. |

its not fracturing the community because you can still play people who never bought the update. This is not a way to hold anything over anyones head. Balance isnt the only thing that makes a fighter. If that were the case, then you would logically have to say that hyper fighting and super sf4 are the best versions of sf. Capcom obviously cares, given the fact that they arent requiring anyone to update the game to continue playing, and are allowing AE players to play super players. The arcade edition only exists because the fans demanded it The pc version only exists because people demanded it the only logical conclusion is that capcom does what its fanbase wants. In fact, outside of the initial sf4 release, very little of the updates havent been demanded from the community. Capcom listens to its fanbase way more than most companies. This is obviously a strong point |

lol yeah, its not broken beyond its core concept, thats why guile can do no charge flash kicks, and honda can do no charge headbutts and slams etc. If you knew what you were talking about youd be able to put an argument together that actually made sense. lolololololol |

game companies should only do what their fans want to a point. Pandering to fan demands too much results in shit like Shadow the Hedgehog. There has to be a line because ultimately, the screaming masses don't really know what they want and the consequences of getting what they want will be. Professional game companies in most cases will know better than some dude on xbox live saying to his friends "you know what would be cool?..." |

to some extent i agree but the updates in this case were necessary for example: sf4 released, sagat over powered to the point where its largely futile to go against him unless your name is daigo super sf4 is released, everyone rejoices, but capcom said no arcade version will be made. This would hurt the japanese competition, so the american auidence started bitching, and i assume the japanese did too so we got AE AE comes out, and we need to be playing the same game so here we are Edited by Necrotrophic, Tuesday Apr 12 2011, 12:01 PM.

we (the community that is competitive) need to be playing the same game. Honestly, I dont care what people do who arent actually good at sf. The less mashers that play the game the better (not implying you are one, im just making a point) |

It's about damn time they provide an updated PC version. (Wish I could say the same for GGXX, but at least I don't have to add another console to my fleet to play AC+ instead of #R.) However, I'm not so sure I'll plunk down for Super SFIV AE right off the bat. Cost aside, most of the people who were playing Super SFIV in the game room are now playing MvC3 as their fighter of choice, unless Super SFIV is on...and I've found that I can still get their attention with Zero (Alpha) 3 on my old Saturn. (That console gets a lot of remarks about people remembering when Sega was in the console business...and how they did NOT own a Saturn, but did own a Genesis.) Speaking of which, a funny thing happened last time I brought the Saturn and SFA3; one of the guys who regularly plays Super SFIV took me on, and I did one small change from my usual routine-switching from Guile (who appeals to me as a character and has good normals, but FUCK the charge move inputs!) to Ryu (X-ISM). The result? Someone who never played Ryu in this game before, and doesn't have much experience with Street Fighter in general, CONSISTENTLY BEAT OUT the experienced Super SFIV player. I guess the experience doesn't carry over...or maybe it's beginner's luck. Who knows? (But I still know my shit would've been wrecked if I went up against someone who's mastered a character's V-ISM custom/variable combos, especially since I still fight the controls somewhat even with motion-based inputs. Sega's D-Pads are nice, but they're no arcade joysticks.) |

The reason that happened is because people who only play SF4 are only good at SF4 in some ways, its a bit of an odd ball in the series because of the shortcuts. I bet he had a lot of trouble getting the inputs in correctly. most of the really good sf4 players are people who carry over from the alpha, st, 3s days, where qfc is qfc and not down forward down forward and without the charge inputs guile would be beyond broken, see above lol |
