The PS3 hacks continue. This time the hackers have decided to take a look at how Sony has been handling our private data, and it ain't pretty.

I'm sure as hell glad I have never put my credit card information anywhere near my PSN account.

It is possible to not understand without being confused.
It is possible to be inaccessible without hiding.
It is possible to be aware without being awake.

The forum thread is a copy/paste of this report:
http://ps3crunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/psn.pdf

Which comes from PS3 crunch, which has been more than reliable in reporting on the PS3 hack and its fallout.

I don't have my CC info in PSN but it's trivial to remove it, unlike XBL. There's a remove billing info button. I went and checked for the sake of knowing.

If you're gonna buy stuff from the stationbox live network, best to use prepaid cards.

Yeah, I'm going to call bullshit on this one.

PSN uses the same SSL encrypted login that pretty much every major corporation uses.

On-top of that, you'd first need CFW and someone to dump a trojan onto the PS3 to be able to steal anything. And if you install CFW, far as I'm concerned you deserve whatever happens to you. You're taking a risk by doing it and this is apart of it.

Also your PC is more than likely running a trojan than your PS3, so MYEAH.

Ya know what's funny? These hackers are apparently telling us all of this in a possible attempt to safeguard our info...when in reality they make it less safe by TELLING EVERYONE HOW TO DO IT. Keep your damn mouths shut and we may all be just fine...

That would obviously encourage the behavior though

Corporations and governments hire hackers all the time. They make the best security specialists.[cleft=darkslategray][/cleft][cright=black][/cright][pleft=white][/pleft][dl=black][/dl]

and they hire "network hackers" to crack other government systems, namely china.

a bunch of people who have been getting caught cracking systems are given a deal that if they ass blast the government with their knowledge they can get out of jail sooner.

i read that on the news anyway, and my admissions guy at my uni said he knows someone that it happened to.
