Well it's good that they admit it, but doesn't make the game suck any less. I was a big fan of AOEII, and III was a let down. It looked good, but not as good as it could have been. As far as gameplay is concerned, it wasn't nearly as fun as II. I played through the single player once, and didn't bother with it again. I didn't even touch the MP. If they would have kept it in the same direction that I & II were headed it would have been a great game. Not Starcraft II great, but good nonetheless. But no, they had to fuck everything up by experimenting and changing everything. |

This all sounds to me like an instance of![]() We Fear Change God forbid they tried something different. If they had just released AoE2 again everyone would have bitched...so they went outta left field. I like that. I for one liked AOE3. |

Had they kept the AoEII gameplay, put it in the new physics engine and balanced the civilizations more... it would have been perfect. They ruined what was already near-perfect in AoEII. All that game needed was more units, buildings and better balance. The time-era was perfect too, I've never cared for the "Napoleonic" era... it is so boring. If they ever remake a game, AoEII would be the one I would jump all over. Of course, I wouldn't want it to be 3D, because all of its greatness comes from the fact it is 2D sprites.[cleft=darkslategray][/cleft][cright=black][/cright][pleft=white][/pleft][dl=black][/dl] |

I've no problem with trying something new, as long as it works. It didn't work in III, plain and simple. If they would have rereleased II with updated graphics, better unit management, better MP support, more units/buildings etc I don't think anyone would have bitched. |

That my friend...is where you are wrong. Because people bitch about anything. It's part of the internet. And when one starts...another jumps on. And it goes forever. |

Wasn't big into AoE3. Definitely didn't like it as much as II or even Age of Mythology. |

Only hardcore Zelda fans bitch about everything, whether the same or different. I was a AoE/AoEII fan, and would have bought AoEIII had it been basically the same game with better graphics in a new time era. I refused to buy it because it was shit.[cleft=darkslategray][/cleft][cright=black][/cright][pleft=white][/pleft][dl=black][/dl] |

I don't see anything immediately wrong with AoE III, except for the things I usually complain about regarding RTSs. But I haven't played the first two because of my general RTS disinterest to begin with, and it's probably one of those cases where a game that would be decent on its own just happens to be a disappointing sequel to a very highly regarded title. (Things like Deus Ex: Invisible War, Thief: Deadly Shadows, Star Control 3, perhaps Master of Orion 3, and so forth.) Hell, the ONLY reason why I have AoE III is because it only cost me a dime. Not fond of having to use the GfWL Marketplace client to get it, but such is life, I guess. |

It focused too much on exploration and the home city. The two previous iterations focused on building and unit production and you know... attacking. I was a turtler though. I preferred making fortifications and going for wonder victories.[cleft=darkslategray][/cleft][cright=black][/cright][pleft=white][/pleft][dl=black][/dl] |

My only problem with the third Theif game was the horrible 30fps capped framerate and the shadows being so horribly dark you couldn't see a thing no matter how much you adjusted! |

You didn't complain about how the maps were all broken up into bite-size chunks to fit into the Xbox's 64 MB of RAM-and not unified for the PC version? Or the lack of rope arrows? Well, if there's ONE feature people like about Thief: Deadly Shadows, it's the Shalebridge Cradle level. |

Well, I complained about that too but I completely forgot as I didn't really get too far into the game cause of said FPS and contrast issues. |
