So, post-trade Knicks have been doing pretty well for themselves.

They lost against Cleveland, but rebounded with a 91-86 win at Miami after a 15-point deficit. It was a great game all around.

Oh and Lebron got owned.

"We gave up a surefire Hall of Famer, who is only 26, for four New York Knicks starters. This is like acquiring the four best mountain climbers in Nebraska. Among Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari and Timofey Mozgov (who, I believe, doesn't even exist), not one is in the top 35 in scoring or rebounding."

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=6150136

Rick Reilly makes a pretty good point. All of these superstars ending up in the big markets:
Wade, Bosh, and LeBron to Miami
Garnett, Pierce, and Allen to Boston
Gasol, Kobe, Odom, and Artest to Los Angeles
Stoudemire, Carmelo, and probably Chris Paul to New York

Any doubt that Dwight Howard will be bailing out of Orlando ASAP? Deron Williams whined Jerry Sloan into retirement, then got traded from Utah to the Nets (who are moving to Brooklyn). If Chris Paul leaves, the Hornets might not even exist anymore. David Stern said publicly that some owners are in favor of contracting the team, and the owner of the NHL's Canucks has interest in moving a team back to Vancouver. Plus the Kings are considering a move to Anaheim (which would basically mean three teams in LA).

The NBA is headed down a pretty sad path.
Denver's been pretty well off after the trade and you know it. 2 wins and a very close overtime loss, which I watched for the lulz. And Gallinari had a solid 30 points in that game.

I've definitely been impressed with Galinari and Chandler. Mozgov hasn't even seen the court and Felton has been pretty weak so far.

Whether the trade turns out to be a good one or not depends on what we do with the draft picks.

Dwight Howard just demonstrated exactly why the Knicks aren't going anywhere in the playoffs.

You guys are soft as shit inside.

Likely would've won if Carmelo shot better than 8-24 and if Billups wasn't injured out. Billups is pretty much essential for this team, and he can make or break games.

See that's the problem. Overall we have a more talented team, but we have a less solid one. We can win, but in order to go anywhere in the playoffs you have to be able to win consistently and we don't have the team for that yet. Billups of far from our "star" and we have no real support for him if he's not doing well. Imagine Stoudemire ends up getting injured during a series (very likely). Then what, just pass to Carmelo all day?

At least with our old team we had options. Stoudemire down? Put Chandler at the 4 and support him with Turiaf, or any of the random back up forwards we had. Lose the point guard? We had like 5 shooting guards who could play the role. Before he was traded Gallinari was practically playing on one leg half the time but it was ok because we had options.

I'm not saying this trade isn't for the better overall, but I'm tired of people saying we have any real shot of going anywhere now. I think we now have players we can build a team around, but we're definitely not ready. I imagine had we gotten Lebron before it would have been the same reaction and if we started losing people would blame him. Don't get me wrong, I want the Knicks to do well because they haven't for a good decade and a half but people need to be more realistic and objectively analyze our strengths and weaknesses. The current team has weaknesses.

Carmelo usually doesn't shoot a high percentage because he always draws the double and even triple teams.

But make no mistake; he's easily the best player on your team right now and without him the Knicks would be a laughing stock once again.

Stoudemire is too soft for the playoffs. You guys need someone like Boozer to complement him inside or you'll go nowhere. Even the kneeless wonder Kenyon Martin brings more to the table than Ronny Turiaf, for fuck's sake.

Knicks beat the Hawks with Carmelo Anthony essentially ineffective for the entire game after an eye injury in the first quarter. He left in the 4th quarter, and even with Billups still injured, Stoudemire and the rest of the Knicks pulled New York to a 92-79 win.

So, Miami is cracking like an egg.

The lost their 5th straight game, against Portland no less. Players have been crying over it in the locker room. And Chris Bosh is unhappy with Miami's coach and whines about wanting the ball more.

All funny stuff.

NY wins again, this time against Memphis.

Melo made the buzzer beater with half a second left, to win 110-108.

And this is also with the officiating crew trying their hardest to force the Knicks to lose by awarding the Grizzlies 33 free throw attempts compared to our 4.

New York Knicks plan:
1. Acquire Melo
2. Raise season ticket prices by an average of 49%
3. Profit

http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/11/knicks-and-rangers-fans-to-see-higher-ticket-prices/

They say it has nothing to do with Melo... Then why are Rangers tickets only going up by 23%?
