A little over halfway done with the season, and San Antonio continues to dominate the Western Conference. Alternatively, the Celtics and the Heat are neck-and-neck in the Eastern Conference. Everyone is so confident in the Bosh-Wade-James lineup but they're having a tough time outperfoming Boston. Lebron ought to break his leg or something, the prick. New York is still a contender and it seems likely that they're making the playoffs (STOUDEMIRE). Edited by moldonhold, Tuesday Feb 8 2011, 01:18 PM.

In other news, it's practically official that Carmelo is coming to the Knicks. And the Knicks will give up Eddy Curry, Anthony Randolph, and Wilson Chandler in the process. Meh, these guys almost never play anyway. |

It's far from "pretty much official": http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/news/story?id=6101304 Trading Melo for a bunch of scrubs from the Knicks would suck ass. Of course, Bynum sucks ass too so I guess it doesn't really matter. The Nuggets are doomed. I haven't been able to stomach the NBA this year anyway. The league has zero credibility until they fire David Stern and every single referee employed by the league today. I really do hope there's a work stoppage, and this retarded league gets a wake up call like the NHL did in 2004. |

Well Denver is getting a first-round pick out of the Knicks deal and the owners of both franchises have met personally. The Lakers haven't made a concrete offer yet. Not to mention Carmelo himself doesn't want to play anywhere other than New York. |

With Carmelo the Knicks might actually have a shot. It'll be 2 on 5 during games instead of 1 on 5. I'm actually impressed with Stoudemire since he has to carry the team pretty much every game. Especially because he's not the player he used to be, and he's also not the strongest rebounder, defender, physically, etc. At least his mid range shot is decent. P.S. Ronny Turiaf is the man. Can't say that man doesn't give his all during games. Reminds me of Patrick Ewing, but with way less skill obviously. |

New York has a shot this year with or without Melo. They've proven that they can beat San Antonio, Miami, and they just barely lost to Boston (by 2 points). And I disagree that Stoudemire carries the whole team. While it's true that Stoudemire usually has the most points in a game, the rookie Landry Fields consistently has the most rebounds per game and Raymond Felton assists in about half of all Stoudemire plays. |

New York absolutely does NOT have a chance without Carmelo. Stop drinking your homer gatorade. The regular season and postseason are two different beasts, and Stoudemire just plain isn't good enough to win a playoff series on his own. |

Any team that can beat the best team in the league has a reasonable chance to make it far in the playoffs. And yes the postseason plays differently, but it would be ridiculous to assume that Stoudemire won't up the ante himself. |

That's ridiculous. Regular season games don't mean anything. Fucking Clevland beat Boston this year. Do you think Cleveland has a reasonable chance to make it far in the playoffs? |

Right but Cleveland can't even make it to the playoffs. That's different. I think that if New York actually made it to the playoffs, they can do well, because they've shown that they're capable of beating playoff teams. |

No, dude. Beating a good team on some random night in the regular season doesn't mean anything. The only way the Knicks are making it out of the first round is if: 1. They actually do land Carmelo Anthony or 2. They get matched up with some joke of a team like Philly or Charlotte (both of whom have a losing record) No way the Knicks are going to beat the Celtics, Heat, or Bulls in a seven game series. And it doesn't matter anyway, because the West is a way tougher conference and they're going to take home the NBA title like they have nine out of the twelve years since Jordan left the Bulls. |

Shitty news all around. New York lost to the Clippers, even though they held Blake Griffin down to 21 points. They're playing the Lakers next, so at least that should be interesting. And Carmelo announced that he's thinking over Denver's extension offer. If Carmelo isn't traded off this month he might just stay in Denver. So now it goes without saying that the Knicks are going to make a stronger offer. |

Apparently you haven't been keeping up with the news. There is a possibility that the NBA (along with the NFL, but that's a different matter) could have a work stoppage in 2011: http://search.espn.go.com/nba-lockout/ Lots of different things to read and consider. I honestly don't know how likely a lockout is, but I reckon we'd be hearing a lot more about it if it weren't for the NFL's current labor situation (the NFL is a thousand times more important to most people than the NBA). |

Nobody really knows at this point. The league hasn't met with the players' union in over a year and the current CBA expires in June. There are any number of situations that could play out: 1. Offseason activities like summer leagues and camps could be affected, but no regular season games missed 2. Some regular season games missed 3. Entire regular season missed 4. New CBA is agreed upon before the June 30 deadline, business carries on as usual I couldn't tell you which situation is most likely to happen, personally. We'll have to wait and see. |

I have a question. Does playing through a season in season mode of NBA 2K mean actually playing through all 82 games + postseason? |
