 It depends on the persons view point. Some people feel they have no rights at all, these people would typically be at the bottom of all social ladders.

I would defend myself in most cases. In some ways, you really cant. For example, if a police officer attacks someone, a lot of times, the person whose getting attacked just sits there and takes it. He is not given the rights by the society he lives in to attack back, and the cops have the muscle anyway.

Unfortunately, the world is the survival of the fittest. Morality is often decided by needs in the given environment, just like our evolution. Religion spread and changed things, but thats besides the point.

If you live in the desert, drinking excessive water is morally wrong, but if you live in seattle, its completely fine.
