![]() When the first trailer was released for this game, everyone went crazy, I mean, a violent game on the Wii? No way! But they were incorrect. No More Heroes is violent. But MadWorld? MadWorld can't be simply described as violent, not even gory. MadWorld is just...wrong. ![]() Get used to this sight, this is a tame moment. At first, it seemed like some people wouldn't be able to tell what in the hot hell was going on because everything was black and white, but that is not the case at all, and in fact turns into a strength for this game's gritty and bloody visual style. The game's story revolves around an island that has been captured by terrorists and the residents there have been forced to play a deadly game in which they are forced to kill their friends and family members. Why would the citizens willingly kill each other you ask? Well, the grand prize is 100 million dollars, and a vaccine for the virus that they sprayed across the area that will claim every life on the island in 24 hours. That should be good enough. Jack is the only person sent out to resolve this matter, so he will have to overcome some serious obstacles along the way. Despite this game seeming like a shallow murdering simulator, the story is backed by a writer from Final Fantasy, containing some clever dialogue that makes clever connections to our current state of affairs. The story is leaked in bits and pieces throughout the game, so despite all the blood, part of the reason you'll be playing this game is actually to see the story play out. The commentary that everyone is talking about lives up to the hype, the fact that they repeat lines can be overlooked when they say a gruesome line. The one thing I can't look over is the laziness in which the lines are said, in one instance, I stabbed a caution sign through a guy's head, and they said: "What do you think of Jack using a light post to skewer a guy's head?" This blatant copy and pasting of dialogue can be painfully obvious at times, but damn, they are funny. In order to get through each level, you need points. And to obtain said points, you need to kill every enemy as brutally as possible, so simply cutting them with your chainsaw arm isn't going to be enough, as weird as that sounds. Even killing an enemy in a really cool way over and over won't work, so you'll need to find new and creative ways to end lives. But every once in a while, when you get enough points, you unlock the best parts of the game, the BloodBath Challenges. ![]() Meet the Black Baron (Stop Starin'), the best character in the game. When you walk into the BloodBath challenge area, the first thing that pops up on your screen is the Black Baron. He explains the objective of each challenge. Throwing a guy into an airplane engine translates into: "Throw some Mutha fucka's ass into the turbinator and watch his ass get ripped at 130 Gs!" Soon after his assistant demonstrates the challenge by killing the Black Baron in the same way that you are expected to kill enemies in the challenge, and this happens throughout the game. Not only are these events enjoyable to watch, but the challenges are fun and are a great way to rack up big points. Environments are littered with things to kill baddies with: tires, spikes, burning cans, dumpsters with spikes, electricity, huge swords, and meat grinders to name a few. Unfortunately, some levels last a little too long and you can find yourself doing the same things over and over and you can even possibly find yourself getting bored. This is rare however, so this could be overlooked. This biggest gripe I have is with the extremely limited camera control, you can lock on to enemies and center the camera behind Jack. That's it. The music pumps you up for the most part, but it can get a little old at times, but if you drown out the lyrics and just listen to the beat, it works well. Be careful that you don't lose all of your lives in a level however, if you are getting tired of a level, dieing will ensure that you have to start all over again. Which can be frustrating in later levels. Overall, this game is fun, and has moments that you won't forget anytime soon, the boss battles are a simple affair of cutting them with your chainsaw at the right time and a quick time event from time to time. What makes the boss battles memorable is the QTE that finishes the boss battles for good, in one instance, you shoot a guy with pistols until his skin falls off. The short length may put off most people, it lasts about 6 hours, but if you're just looking for an enjoyable kill-fest, there really is no better game out there. Just be sure that you don't mind doing the same thing over and over at times. Score: 7.9/10 Edited by Deadlypixels, Friday, 20. March 2009, 17:32.

His QTE was arguably the best though. |

The credits for this game are awesome. "The animators are the guys who bring the action in the game to life." "Don't you mean the guys who get no action their whole lives?" "Yeah, what the fuck did I say?" |

^^LOL But yeah, amazing game. The game has way more substance than it seems. I don't remember battling that much boss battles in one single game. And there were all fun beside the desapointing number 2. I will definitly play a second playthrough after beating my other games. |
