![]() Eliseo Djinni Busques ![]() Character art courtesy of Melaena ![]() Name: BUSQUES, Eliseo Age // Apparent Age: 821 // 40 Gender: Male Numero: Espada Quinta ![]() Height: 6'1" Weight: 167 lbs Eye Colour: Black Hair Colour // Style: Black, worn long enough to pass his shoulders and quite unkempt. Skin Tone: Slightly tan, and remarkably rough. Body Type: Fit with defined muscles and low body fat, though he seems a tad lanky. Distinguishing marks/features: Facial hair - he has a well-kept goatee with a light overlay of shadow. He is likely the only Arrancar with any facial hair. Appearance Description: Eliseo's appearance is a hodgepodge of youthful vibrancy and world-weary age, likely due to an unnatural aging transition due to a psychological outcome of his past. Though built with a fit and defined physique, his skin is rough as though it has seen much work, and many other little things contribute to the onset of age in his appearance. Eliseo's arms, for example, are muscular enough to verify that he is a strong close-quarters fighter, and yet the skin has a mild tan to it, not the kind associated with healthy beach-going, since Hueco Mundo is locked in eternal night. It's more of a natural skin tone, but the skin is somewhat rough and leathery, especially on his hands. One such hand would perpetually be concealed by his Soul Cutter, had he not devised a supernatural sheath for it long ago, growing weary of constant armament. With a quick burst of black smoke, the darkness of his soul coalesces and takes physical form on his hand, manifesting the weapon when it is needed in combat, though presenting no tactical advantage once in the flurry of battle, as it is always automatically available at the immediate prospect of demonstrated hostility. Eliseo's eyes are an imposing black, like his hair and many other things about him, and are constantly locked in a half-lidded position unless a particularly intense emotion can make them behave otherwise. It makes him look constantly weary, a proper presentation of his feelings towards his constant struggles, though it can be mistaken for boredom or disinterest. The visage is rarely flanked by his long black hair, which seems to spend most of its time safely behind and two the sides of his head, ever the curly and unkempt material. A notable anomaly about Eliseo is the fact that, unlike most Arrancar, Eliseo has devised a mean to bypass the visibility of his Hollow hole on his body. He surely has one, but he is so secretive and guarded that nobody actually knows where it is. Perhaps he hides it out of some deep-seated shame or perhaps it is just located somewhere completely inappropriate to disclose - but either way, it is a curious secret. The location of his other discerning marks is not so obscure. The mask, for example, is a fragment protruding from his head in the form of ivory, curling horns. They loop backwards in a near even circle, and one of them is broken with a marred edge, perhaps a scar from a forgotten battle. This, paired with his visage often plastered with an skeptical or unfavorable demeanor, gives him the imposing, devilish appearance; bereft of mischief, wrought of ancient evil. Eliseo also has a tattoo, indicating that he is an Espada. It takes the form of a modern number, located half on his crotch and half on the lower part of his abdomen, tilted slightly counter-clockwise in a haphazardly manner. The black ink is faded and mildly warped, as though it was put there a long, long time ago. Clothing: Eliseo wears the white Arrancar uniform only when it serves his interests - however, his version of it is a rather mocking rendition. Rather than a robe or exotic raiment, he wears what appears to be a white (borderline lavender) dinner vest with a sizable black garish bow tie, as well as matching slacks and a black dress shirt underneath. He keeps the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, making it a wildly inappropriate ensemble choice. On his own time, he chooses a more characteristic suite of regalia - a black dinner suit of a more casual make, generally worn with a formfitting dark colored undershirt rather than a dress shirt. This outfit is widely unrecognized by anyone except his closest peers, as it is worn specifically when he's out working on his own, renegade agenda. ![]() Personality: Eliseo's personality is perplexingly diverse. At time he is simple, at other times complex, and most importantly, he is changed man and thus on rare occasion his old self may surface. Relationships are rarely founded unconditionally for Eliseo. He has few close allies since losing Rauce, though he respects his main subordinates, the Fraccion, as useful and loyal comrades and seeks to reward their service one day with great power. Until then, though, he treats them as near equals, punishing insubordination only in extreme circumstances, and otherwise allowing them full understanding of his plans and full dominion over that which Eliseo himself owns and commands, such as Hollow servants. Other than these advisers and comrades, he has no friends. He knows no humans, has no allies in Las Noches that can be trusted, and seeks to create none as well. Eliseo is likely completely incapable of love and affection. In his many years, he has never loved, and likely never even felt an attraction to someone beyond short-lived and unhealthy infatuation. He's never been close to someone on this level, and intends never to. That's not to say he has no carnal history, however. Once, he was engaged in a solely sexual relationship with a female Arrancar named Gabrielle Cuchilloz, though that relationship ended rather abruptly when she betrayed Eliseo's trust for her own agenda and loyalties, damaging further Eliseo's ability to trust anyone, especially on an intimate level. There have been other times, as well, such as when he raped a Tres Cifres prisoner in order to subjugate her into granting him important information about her former master whom she was in love with, and whom Eliseo felt rather the opposite about. Eliseo's respect for women is limited by a lack of patience for them. He would lack ANY respect were it not for the fact that Sakina Esperanza was one the greatest warriors he had ever known. On the other hand, Eliseo hates a great many things, though he is not a being dominated solely by hate. Mostly, but not solely. He hates superiors, and wishes to do away with them. He also hates equals who are not worthy of their rank, but those are few in the numeric hierarchy of the Espada. Most importantly, he hates the Shinigami. It is they who would eradicate his people, and one of their leaders who stole his brother from him. It is not uncommon for Eliseo to refer to them as "Shinigami scum," and he has never trusted one. Likely he never will. Eliseo is ambitious, and this ambition is fueled by his desire to avenge his brother's death and to fulfill their dream on his behalf and in his memory. He doesn't know what has become of Sakina, nor does he know where any of his other allies have gone, but he intends to create new ones that he can use for his own ends. Eliseo is a deceiver and a user, so those who do not earn a spot in his inner circle are subject at any time to betrayal and sacrifice if it best serves Eliseo's agenda. That's not to say Eliseo's goals aren't noble - he only wishes to give more power to his people and to destroy their enemies, even if it means he has to have the most power. Once, Eliseo was more noble and honorable, following the example of his brother, but when Rauce died, so too did that part of him. Deceit and evil went into its place, and now Eliseo's reputation is far from being founded on respect and reverence - though his strength and purpose in Soldados cannot be denied, either. History: Eliseo's history can aptly be described in two words: long, and interesting. Though so little is known about Eliseo due to his subtle nature that the details are obscure and the specifics are uncertain. What little can be understood shall be defined hereafter. Eliseo, in life, was a poet and a soldier in the Samnite military units of ancient times, though the time of his death and the time of his Hollowfication aren't certain. What is known, is that he became an Arrancar around eight-hundred years ago, making him very old indeed. The wisdom afforded by this is well-used, but he is gifted with many strange experiences exclusive to him and his brother. Indeed, he has a brother, or rather had. When he was a Menos, struggling to maintain dominant conscious over the rest of the Hollow he was composed of, there was another that proved an even contender. For decades did the two vie for control over their body, holding dominion for shaky and brief bouts of time only to have it seized by the other. This veritable impossibility made for a voracious Hollow, who felt the inclination to feed all the greater, focusing not only one consuming the souls of humans and Hollows, but often of wayward Shinigami as well. The result was a mutant anomaly of sorts, two contenders for one future, one survival. One didn't stand, though. In one great struggle over control of their body, they sought true relief by ripping the mask off of their heads in hopes that the true owner of the body would be given shape. The result was unexpected - two Arrancar, rather than one, took form. Eliseo was one, Rauce the other - Eliseo bore their horn mask remnants, and Rauce bore their jaw mask remnants, though all the other pieces were ripped free entirely. Like brothers, they had an immediate sibling rivalry... though unlike brothers, it wasn't a simple quarrel and small acts of bickering. It was genuine hostility, intent to kill, to exact revenge and settle the score. Yet whenever they tried to vanquish one another, they both simultaneously fell short and collapsed, for they were equals in each and every possible way. Over long periods of quarreling, their personalities began to further develop until the point where Eliseo (then known by a different and ill-remembered name) realized the tactical benefit of siding with a brother and pooling their efforts to survive. After all, they had common ground. When Eliseo suggested this to Rauce, it turned out that Rauce had just come to the same revelation and was immediately receptive. And thus, the brothers' union had begun. Until the very end, they stuck together almost as though joined at the hip. Eliseo was the brains, and Rauce the brawn - where Eliseo orchestrated their rise to power, Rauce facilitated it, defending both of their honor with feared aggression. The day finally came when an Espada took note of their strength, and added them to his circle as Fraccion. Eliseo was arrogant and Rauce echoed it loyally. He viewed the other Fraccion as weak and insignificant, assuming his master had chosen him because he was the ample choice available. His peers did not favor this, and in time he could not stand to wilt in the shadow of the Espada. He began his own agenda, plotting to overthrow his master when he had the strength and searching for a means to create it, along with those who were like-minded. One such like-minded individual was Sakina - another Espada, revered for her speed and discipline, and the object of Rauce's affections. The three of them banded together, searching the desert for artifacts with which Eliseo could research the past of the Hollow, learn what powers they had left to be one day be pulled from the depths of the sands. These three came to be known, though by few, as la Triada Imparable. They secrets they unearthed could have changed the spirit worlds forever. Unfortunately, as their journey was approaching its epoch, their efforts were cut down. A perfidious Shinigami Captain intercepted them at an ancient place, somehow having monitored their progress with the use of subordinate Arrancar he himself had created, and made sure that the secrets they sought would not be found - at least, not by them. He relieved them of their artifacts, sealed the ancient place, and killed Rauce. Sakina fled, knowing the battle was lost, and there was nothing they could do, for the Captain escaped. There, Eliseo wept and raged for a very long time, and haunting ancient voices in that place taunted and manipulated him, corrupting his soul and turning him into an even more spiteful, dark being. He was gone for a month, before he donned Rauce's mask (Rauce died in his true form, and was fully masked when he did) and returned to Las Noches, disguised by his brother's ivory visage and wielding new, dark powers. With these new gifts, he defeated his former master, mortally wounding him, and fleeing into the darkness of the desert before he could be identified by any of the other resident Arrancar. Proving your superior strength was one thing, but treachery was another, and he would surely be executed for his perfidy. Vengeance hadn't been served for Rauce, but their dream had been (at least in part) realized. For the next one-hundred years, Eliseo traveled the Far Wastes in Hueco Mundo, living as a nomadic hermit of sorts, searching for answers and brooding about the irredeemable loss of his brother. Never did he realize how much he valued Rauce until he was gone, and he hated himself for taking him for granted. A hundred years caused his powers to dwindle. He lost his dark gift, lost all the dedication he had put into his powers, and became a lost egg among the Arrancar. That is, until he finally snapped out of it. It took him long to realize what it was he must do. Serve revenge, before the opportunity passed, and fulfill his and Rauce's dream. He had forgotten his name and his powers, but he hadn't forgotten how to become powerful. He trained, and somehow his brother was there with him all along the way. He became like his brother - a powerful force in close range combat, and molded himself in his shape. Now, he would take what belonged to them all those years ago. Eliseo returned with this new name, but not before tattooing the number "5" on his body. His former master was Espada Quinta, and since he had slain him, the rank rightfully belonged to him. He resolved to enter Las Noches, and either destroy the Fifth Espada or scare/beat them into submission, and then allow anyone unhappy with his coup to receive a gruesome fate at his hands if they did not favor his methods. Interestingly, his methods were well-received - the superiors were impressed by his tenacity and his confident demonstration. A warrior such as him would make a great force in their newly structured regiment, though he would have to be kept under careful watch lest he act without loyalty. That, Eliseo remembered, was something he was skilled at dealing with. Though, he had his own agenda, like any Espada. In his wandering, he had learned of numerous colonies of Hollows and on rare occasion even an Arrancar throughout Hueco Mundo. It was unlikely that he would be able to recruit the members of Soldados into his own personal army, and if he tried he risked being revealed. He would have to look outward to find support. Flanked by his only loyal comrades the Fraccion, he begins his mission, Rauce's mask heavy inside his coat. Other: Burden, by Opeth, is Eliseo's theme song. ![]() Special Ability: None. Techniques/Abilities: Eliseo was once trained in the use of abilities such as Gran Rey Cero and Bala and prided himself the titular "Cero Master," but this was so long ago. He has since forever lost this capability and due to a spiritual degradation of his being relevant to his history. However, his recent training has brought him back up to speed, and he now possesses the following techniques in full form. Cero - Eliseo's Cero is a red, and is no longer as quick and deadly as it was back in his golden days. Garganta - Eliseo's garganta are functionally normal, except for while he is in release form. He is able to thread his garganta onto his webs, allowing them to open faster and accommodate for easier passage independent of his own concentration. They are also virtually impossible to stop from opening without specialized kido or technology. Hierro - Presently, this is Eliseo's most powerful technique. With Hierro, Eliseo's skin is powerful enough to stop zanpakuto and certain attacks, especially from weaker enemies. However, the ability is powered by his own reiatsu, meaning blows that are strong enough to overcome a certain threshold will penetrate his hierro, and that it can only take so much abuse before his spiritual energy is dwindled and he runs out of power. In short, it makes most attacks a lot less fatal, but provides no lasting invincibility. Sonido - Eliseo utilized Sonido when he was an Espada in the past, and has since grown better at it. Eliseo is a quick and reckless in the use of this ability, often moving so fast that he appears to be disappearing spontaneously, though other spiritual warriors are so quick and trained as to know better. Gemeros Sonido - A true testament to Eliseo's newfound dedication to speed, Eliseo can create a number of after-images when he moves with Sonido, often to create decoys to absorb attacks or to distract foes so he may attack from unguarded angles. Eliseo is a deceiver, and this technique is one of his best tools. These after-images behave about the same, so after a few uses, a foe will begin to identify them. Caja Negación - Eliseo's personal favorite. He knows he'll never find comrades as loyal as Rauce was, or as reliable as Sakina, but with this, he can punish insubordination with great ease. This tool is especially important for granting his more... aggressive Fraccion (you know who you are) time to cool off. Strengths: Eliseo's specialty in combat are melee encounters. He's deadly in close range, using martial arts experience, great cunning, and dirty tactics to eliminate foes quickly and efficiently. He's a technical fighter, too, known for his great intelligence to make tactically brilliant choices and use of his comrades for optimal success. Best of all, Eliseo's a convincing deceiver, once known for using feints and trickery to lure foes into traps, and when there, eliminate them or force their surrender. When released, Eliseo gains the added benefit of being very stealthy and making a fine assassin. Offense is his specialty, and tenacity makes up for his weaknesses, allowing him to prevail against Captains and other Espada. Weaknesses: Eliseo's drawbacks are, admittedly, outnumbered by his strength since he's an Espada - but if understood, they are serious weaknesses, easily exploited. First and foremost, Eliseo has no ranged abilities anymore, a strange contrast from the past when he was one of the best. This is likely due to the fact that his reiatsu is just not as strong as it once was. Spiritually he's not the reiatsu powerhouse that was before his exile, relying more on his tenacity to fit within the ranks of the Espada. Defeating foes beyond his spiritual level is much more difficult than it is normally for an Espada, for Eliseo; he has to play dirty and experience much good luck to make up for this. More notable is Eliseo's recklessness. Eliseo loves taking risks, foregoing technical approaches when an opportunity presents itself. This allows opponents to lure him into attacks just as well as he might lure them, a strange and cruel irony. Finally, Eliseo is a bit of a coward, preferring to flee and let his minions do his bidding than to face comparable foes on his own. When a reckless assault fails, cowardice takes over and the demoralization will damage his performance. In release form, Eliseo's weaknesses are amplified as he devotes all effort to relentless close-range onslaughts and becomes dangerously reckless. His cowardice disappears, however, for in release form he becomes the embodiment of fear. Do note also that Eliseo also has a weaker physical constitution than most. He is able to sustain much less wounds, tough out much less abuse, and is very susceptible to enemy poisons and techniques that are meant to wear him down, like the Binding Arts known as bakudo. This feeds his cowardice, slightly. Do also note that Eliseo has no unique special ability when unreleased, unlike most other Arrancar, especially Espada. Combat Style: As stated before, Eliseo is a technical fighter. He uses tactical approaches blending martial arts, reckless flurries, and dirty fighting to overcome martial challenges, and his deceiving methods and acts of sabotage to overcome other challenges. He loves to confound foes with trickery and feints to gain the upper hand. If things go south, Eliseo will resort to opening a Garganta to escape, or allowing allies to distract enemies while he flees with Sonido. When released, his strategy changes little, except that now he is more powerful and can be even more reckless. On his own turf, challenging Eliseo becomes much, much more dangerous, because he's an adept user of traps and takes advantage of his knowledge of familiar territory. ![]() Zanpakuto name: Mordida Arañas Dormant Appearance: The vessel in which Eliseo contains his true power and unrelenting inner darkness, Mordida Arañas takes the form of a wicked tekko-kagi on his left hand. The blades are black, the color of Eliseo's very soul, and just as sharp. There are four blades, all about two feet long and sturdy enough to survive any onslaught Eliseo can stand. With them, the way to deadly martial arts techniques and dirty, underhanded attacks are opened, such as tangling a foe's weapon with the blades using an expert manipulation of the wrist. The weapon itself seems lacking of defensive capability, since it can't parry very effectively given its shape. This is made up for by how lightweight it is, as a fast offense can often nullify the necessity of a defense. The blades are edged on both sides, and hooked on the tip for digging into foes during strokes of the weapon. A plate of black steel, in the shape of a spider's head fit with eight red glowing rubies like eyes covers Eliseo's hand, protecting it so that when he parries with the weapon, blades won't simply slide along them and strike a crippling blow on the appendage what wields the weapon. ![]() Release Prompt: "Llora sangre negro, Mordida Arañas." Release Appearance: Eliseo's true form is a terrible sight, indeed. Recently, one of Eliseo's servants in Las Noches echoed a rumor that cobwebs were sighted in the upper reaches of Eliseo's chambers, the ceilings of which are too far up to be seen even when carrying illumination. Eliseo dispelled these rumors with the simple statement, "There are no spiders in Las Noches." But the truth is, there is one, and it is a very, very big one; and of the poisonous sort. Resurrección shows the darkness of Eliseo's soul in physical form. He starts by raking his claw viciously across his right forearm, allowing his black blood to fall from the wound. Then, holding his arm over his head, he allows the blood to gush out and completely cover his figure like a thick, black ink. His form, drenched in a veil of dark fluid, begins to take shape underneath as though the blood were coagulating over him. When done, not a bit of his skin is left, now replaced with dark chitin, reflective and sleek with an ominous, predatory style about it. His head is masked in a black helmet of sorts, with eight red eyes piercing through the darkness and granting clear vision. What ink is left either washes off at his feet leaving the ground blackened and dead, unable to accommodate the growth and survival of any plant ever again, or hardens at the tips of his fingers as sharp claws with which he may rend his foes. For a couple of seconds after the transformation is complete, Eliseo struggles, and with a sickening crunch, eight fresh, nine-foot long double-jointed limbs appear on his back, like spider legs. They are exceptionally narrow, chitinous limbs adept primarily at climbing, weaving webs, and delivering poison to Eliseo's unfortunate opponents. The transformation is complete at this point, and Eliseo is now a deadly skittering power-house, with now-black horns curling from the head of his helmet, the broken one now repaired during the release. Release Abilities: Eliseo doesn't actually have any spectacular supernatural abilities to invoke, like blasts or abilities. All of his release powers take the form of biological functions he has in true Hollow form. They are his poison-delivering limbs, his spiritual webbing material, and his soul-drinking finisher. Cuchillos Venenos - Eliseo has eight additional limbs, which aren't just for maneuvering and climbing walls. Though they are not as deadly as his claws, unlike them they are poisonous. The poison is a deadly neurotoxin that afflicts all targets, spiritual or not, by entering their blood stream and being delivered to their nervous system and centers, damaging and hindering them to make foes more susceptible prey for Eliseo. The poison infects the target with a condition coined by Eliseo as "paraptius lethargica." It starts by numbing the foe, then in continually growing doses it will damage a victim's reaction speed and reflexes. Finally, in a large enough dose, victims are susceptible to paralysis. The poison is delivered in large doses, but fortunately for spirits, their anatomies are resilient enough that it takes a lot of such doses to actually do anything. Living humans are not so lucky - aside from Quincy and spiritually-empowered humans, humans only need to be subjected to a single full dose before they are subject to full-body paralysis, lasting for any time between a day to weeks, though it is unlikely a paralyzed foe will live very long. Spirits, however, are only paralyzed if many doses are introduced and generally don't undergo a state of paralysis for any longer than two hours, at which point body function restores bit by bit in a steady fashion. To simplify the mathematics behind Eliseo's poison volumes, poison will be divided into a unit of measurement referred to as "one dose," where one dose equals the amount of poison delivered by a single strike from Eliseo's extra limbs. It only takes one dose to numb a local area, so a single strike to a foe's upper right arm may numb that entire arm; though it is still entirely functional, it now can barely if at all feel pain. Additional doses will further the poison, making the affected area clumsier and clumsier with each strike. Four cumulative doses will numb a foe's entire body to pain and make them slightly clumsy, though not yet impede their performance on a neurological level. At this point the poison actually poses a tactical benefit to a foe, as now they are unable to feel pain and may use this advantage to press their assaults harder. However, it also benefits Eliseo, in that a numb foe may become less aware of their immediate danger if Eliseo continues to strike them. Eight cumulative doses is where the real fun begins. Foes will begin to see a significant impediment in their motor skills and mental facilities, and a drastic decline in the effectiveness of their reflexes and response time becomes a serious advantage Eliseo wields against them. More doses will hit them harder, until finally twelve total doses is delivered. This many doses is the point at which foe begins to slowly experience paralysis. At this point, they have about a five minutes before their circulatory system distributes the poison enough that they are fully paralyzed, and over this time they will lose control of random parts of their body. Any additional doses will halve the time until full paralysis, and extreme activity may elevate a foe's heart rate and speed the distribution as well. It's important to understand that Eliseo's poison is not just an injected poison, but also a contact poison. This doesn't necessarily mean he can spray it or pour it on foes, because his extra claws are completely incapable of spraying or projecting poison due to biological limitations. However, a foe who is merely nicked will still possibly be subject to a dose. He cannot deliver a dose without directly striking and injecting a victim under any circumstances; and sometimes he may deliver two or even three doses with severe attacks, but such attacks would be described as totally impaling a foe and keeping the claw within them for longer than a few seconds, a dangerous maneuver that can cost Eliseo a limb if not more. Telaraña - Eliseo's other biological tool is his webbing material. It is produced from his Hollow hole, wherever it might be (nobody actually knows) via spinnerets lining the inside of it, and extracted in most cases by his extra limbs. These limbs are adept at weaving the web into shapes and patterns and spreading them over surfaces. The uses of the web are limited only to Eliseo's imagination, so describing their every application might be a hopeless affair. In any case, its properties are listed hereafter.
Though his limbs can expertly manipulate and weave the webs, it cannot be used to actively tie up a foe in combat, as this is dangerous and complicated, obviously. A foe who is paralyzed by his poison, however, becomes an ample target. Web is mainly used for making surfaces easier to climb and for binding defeated foes for... interrogation, or rehabilitation, or of course for feeding if Eliseo has no use for them. He also often uses his webs to suspend Garganta out of reach, so he can flee to his portals in areas where enemies cannot fly and therefore safely escape. Finally, the web is especially effective in his own chambers, as he may have them wired all over as traps. Coup de Grâce - Souldrinker - Though named "blow of mercy," it can be said that this finisher is far from merciful. Souldrinker's use is simple - when a foe is entirely woven in a cocoon of web, Eliseo can finish them off by plunging all eight of his claws into their body and siphoning their spiritual essence away. The whole siphoning takes only ten uninterrupted seconds and leaves him mostly vulnerable as the chilling delight of feeding captures all of Eliseo's attention. A foe siphoned in this manner is completely and utterly snuffed of life and their soul, and Eliseo is healed and replenished in return. Mundane humans reward him with only minor bodily repairs (small cuts) and 5% of his total spiritual energy. Spiritual foes like Shinigami, however, will return four times the amount of energy, and restore most wounds, serious or not. Edited by Zabasaz, Sep 14 2010, 12:08 AM.
