![]() ` Bokor D'aak http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g17/Samigina_photos/bokor_ac.jpg ![]() Name: Buzzut, D'aak Age // Apparent Age: Early 70's//Early 20's Gender: Male Division // Rank: Kido Corps// Fuko Kidocho Additional Titles: D'aak prefers to be called Bokor after the voodoo term for a sorcerer. Theme Song: Maki Ya by Anamanaguchi ![]() Height: 6'4"" Weight: 140 lb Eye Colour: Dark Green Hair Colour // Style: Brown//Shaggy and Unkempt Skin Tone: Pale, but tans easily Body Type: Skinny Distinguishing marks/features: Almost his entire body is covered in Izumi tattoos that he had possessed in life as a human. Through odd circumstances the tattoos have stayed with him throughout. He also has numerous facial piercings and he always has at least two lit cigarettes in his mouth. Additionally both of his hands possess six fingers and one thumb each. Appearance Description: D'aak is a fellow who claims himself to be quite the looker, however if he is then its to a very specific and strange crowd indeed. He is tall and quite skinny, built with the shape of a marathon runner. Though very fit, he is not overly muscled, sporting a hairless lean torso instead of bulging abs and pecs. His posture is usually rather lacking, making him look slightly shorter and far less serious. A great deal of his height comes from his almost cartoonishly long legs, and while both are well toned, they come off more or less like he is walking with two disproportionally long toothpicks for legs. He has a strange preference to walk tiptoed most of the time, giving him a stride that appears more or less like some bizarre form of heron. His body in fact sports a number of oddities that has, on more than one occasion, caused fellow shinigami to mistake him for the more variously and oddly shaped arrancar. His arms are long and wiry and he claims to be double jointed just about everywhere and then some, in fact it not an uncommon occurrence for his to dislocate both shoulders to get into places he really shouldn't be getting into. Each arm tappers to broad-palmed hands which both possess more fingers than your average humanoid. Although bizarre, this birth defect has given him two extra fully functional fingers on each hand and an impressive amount of dexterity. Stopping right before the wrist of each hand and covering the whole of his arms and back is a complex collection of tattoos that form an irezumi coat. The motifs of the tattoos follow a wide variety of mythos and legend, from buddhist to voodoo, from greek myth to shinto. His face, while not ugly, is not winning any beauty contests soon. Lets just say that he ain’t getting through a metal detector with any ease. Both of his ears have three piercings, two studs on the top and a gauge in his lobes. His left eyebrow has two rings in it. His tongue used to be pierced but is now instead split down the middle like a lizard’s. His bottom lip is pierced with a stud in the middle and a ring on each side. Under all of the metal, his face is rather angular and thin, often stretched out by his nigh constant grin of satisfaction. He has perpetually ruffled brown hair that makes him look like he either just woke up or just had crazy sex, mattering upon how long ago he last wore his hat. Clothing: When in formal occasions or when its required, D'aak will wear his standard issue uniform. However Bokor D’aak’s preferred outfit is made primarily up of a funeral jacket that is a tad too big for him and opened wide displaying his lean form beneath and a pair of tattered black pants that go with the jacket. On the top of his head he wears a black beaver skin top hat, which is for some reason never in a condition worse than the beautifully crafted state it is in now. He is never without his long ebony cane that is topped with a ivory carved head of some Lovecraftian beast. Without his piercings in. ![]() ![]() Personality: As a human, D'aak (Then known as Christopher) was a relatively kind man although he had a determination that was not entirely a good thing. He was someone who was driven do to what they wanted in life, no matter what that happened to be. He was an outgoing albeit lazy fellow on the outside, however on the inside he was calculating and manipulative. His passions lay in three things mainly: tattooing, food, and magic. He loved to cook just about anything and eating it was great fun too, one can thank his southern heritage for that. Tattooing was his business and had been a passion since his very early days. Magic was his heritage and his main love, and he wanted to learn everything he could ever possibly learn. He was also a hopeless tobacco addict whose chain-smoking probably did not help him in his final hours. As Bokor D’aak, this fellow has changed however not so greatly. When permitted, D’aak is not someone who resorts to violence and bothersome wastes of energy immediately. He likes to stay cool and laid back until it is absolutely needed. Many see this as a weakness, D’aak sees it as a great strength. He is highly under estimated and while he is relaxing and keeping his cool, he is gathering information, reserving all of his strength, and calculating every move. His determination lays in knowledge of any kind but especially in magic arts be them expressively hollow, shinigami, human, or otherwise. Like his former self, he has a hobby of body modification, often doing various painful artistic procedures to himself when he has the downtime. Notably he is also a sensory glutton, an hedonist if you will. Although no longer able to consume human food in the fully traditional means, it has not stopped him from enjoying himself. He enjoys tasting, smelling, hearing, touching, and seeing everything he possibly can, especially tasting. On his ventures into the human world, he has a bad tendency to steal cookbooks and food products to try his many digited hands on. Although he loves just about any of it, he has a strong preference for seafood and different creole foods. He is a man of strong morals and ethics, believing strongly in the ideals of the good Samaritan. Despite his severe lazy streak, he has been known to go far out of his way to do what he considers a good deed. He is, however, neither a zealot with his ideals nor does he let them stop him from doing his job as a part of the Special Ops. History: Christopher Beckett’s birth and youth were quite un-extraordinary however it wasn’t destined to stay normal for long. He was born in the American South to Elizabeth Beckett, previously Vallandingham, and Michael Beckett, both of German/English descent. His mother was a housewife during his early years and later became a substitute teacher and his father was an engineer and mechanic for a company called Minster. They had started off young, however together they were able to get through life pretty well. They lived near Elizabeth’s parents house and Chris spent his childhood days playing with his grandfather who was a kind and wise old man. It was with him that Chris first discovered art and tattoos. His grandpa had been an artist years before and he kept numerous old paintings around the house. One of these paintings was of a man that his grandfather had met during some time in Japan. The painting depicted a Yakuza Irezumi tattoo, stretching across the man’s torso like a coat of ink. He had been fascinated with it from that time on, always wanting to see and learn all he could about it. As he grew up he took art courses in school and spent most of his free time trying to come up with new designs. This obsession became more and more apparent as he grew and he matured. He became very bony and pale as he spent more time indoors or out at night, spending little time on eating or sleeping and more time on his pursuits. During this time he had also discovered a level of spirituality, a certain closeness to the realms of magic and superstition that suffused the South. He learned the ways of voodoo from the ancient old Bokor Meemaw, who had been born and raised in Louisiana, and he learn the spiritualism of the Sea-Island Gullah from ‘Sis Geechee who was thought by much of the Gullah community to be a boo-hag. Through them he had his first tastes of magic and the spirit realms, and from there he took on another obsession, a thirst for knowledge of the spirit realms. He collected knowledge and artifacts from various cultures and religion (such as Shinto, Daoism, Hindu, Aborigine etc.), which he studied and learn as best he could. In turn this also influenced his unique tattooing style that combined Irezumi with several tribal variations. In his late teens, he felt that things were getting quite strange in little Beaufort. He began to notice things that others didn’t, he couldn’t go into a graveyard without ending up in a conversation with a dead confederate soldier, and things just began to get weird in particular. Meemaw and ‘Sis Geechee both said that he was beginning to see the other world beyond our own. He continued through school and through his spiritual training with his elders, and in his mid-twenties he got a Master’s Degree in art history and had already finished an apprenticeship at a local tattoo parlor. He decided that he was going to open his own parlor and start a new life, and he wanted to go where the image that began it all came from: Japan. On his last day home, Bokor Meemaw paid him a final visit to tell him that she say Eshu in her dream with Chris. Eshu was the patron of travelers and the lord of luck, but he was also the personification of death and a trickster. He could either be going to a fortunate future or certain death, and Chris decided that it was a chance worth taking. Within several years, he decided that it must have been luck because not only had he started a successful Tattoo Parlor but he had also became semi-famous in an underground kinda way. He became fast friends with a social reject named Otonashi, whom had come in for a rather interesting tattoo. In particular, Chris’s life was all that he would of ever hoped for…until of course he died. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “And don't come back until you've gotten an interview!" Those were the last words that Chris had yelled out to his massive friend. If he knew what would happen he would have said something more meaningful. Well….maybe not, if he knew that he was going to die then he would of said something really stupid like, “Feed the cat before you go, ‘cuz I won’t be around long enough to.” It was just the sort of guy he was, never taking anything too seriously until he was face to face with the problem. He had spent the reminder of the day drawing up a few tattoos that were commissioned, one of them of the Grim Reaper the other of Enma-O. He felt rather proud how well they came out, but the fact that they were both personifications of death made him feel a little uneasy. His mind was cast back to those words said by the old Bokor, “ Eshu be-a luk’n o’er you yon’gun, he n’t tell yur ole Meemaw wha he be want’n but he be inter’sted in ya.” Thus far he was rather sure that the old woman had been wishing him luck as Eshu was a lord over fortune, but now he was beginning to rethink this. Eshu was the psychopomp who led people to their final rest after death, he was also a wily old trickster and would often not let an unwary traveler know that the path they walked was the one towards death. Chirs really hoped that he was not walking down that dreaded path. It was beginning to get late and Oton had still not come home yet. Chris had started dinner and since it was his turn to choose, he was making Frogmore Stew just like ‘Sis Geechee used to make. It was rather hard though with the insane selection of seafood in the Japanese markets not to add a little though. Mallet in hand, Chirs descended upon the hapless critters of the sea to try and get them to stop moving long enough that he can through them into the pot. A particularly large crab seemed to be seeing things the other way around, and its goal was to force Chris into the boiling water. The struggle was intense, few epic battles in the history of man-crustacean warfare were comparable to it, and in the end it seemed to be a draw. At least that it until the crab let loose of Chirs’ pinky and fell into the pot beside a few ears of corn and some sausage. Ten bandages, a few curse words in several languages, and a blow torch later, and the stew was filled to the brim with the majority of scaly things that live in the Yellow Sea. He knew that Oton wasn’t all too fond of finding his dinner staring back at him, so he had steamed some rice. It’s about here that things went wrong. First he knocked over the salt whilst prodding a still twitching tentacle in his stew, and as he moved to throw some over his shoulder he knocked his head into the shelf. From the shelf, two chop sticks fell into the rice and stuck upright, this unlucky event proceeded in turn to somehow cause the shelf itself to break and throw Oton’s lucky cat statue into a mirror, breaking both. Trying to clean everything up, Chris unwittingly walked under a ladder several times and stepped on most of the cracks along the way. Somehow, Chris was able to get things slightly under control and he went to eat his dinner alone, without salt, in the living room. Just to make matters worse though, he noticed that it was the Thirteenth, the first channel he changed to on the TV was thirteen, and he counted that he had taken exactly thirteen steps from the kitchen to the couch. “Well ain’t this night just going dandy…..” It was about to get dandier. Before he could even bite into a potato or sap the meat from a crab leg, there was a tremendous explosion of noise and light. It was like an industrial grade firework display was happening two inches from his face and a Thrash Metal band was playing in his head whilst battling off the whole of the Jurassic Period. Moments later he felt the wind beating upon him, cold and stabbing, and he could see the night skies. He felt as though he was going to be sick, his head was dizzy and he was unsure of what was happening. The wall facing the street looked as though it had exploded, and he was lying amongst the rubble in the back of the room. He could hear something moving, he could feel the heat of its breath, smell the reeking stench of dead bodies, but he couldn’t see anything. Something moved, he could see the air waver but it had no real shape, it was moving closer. Chirs didn’t often think things through; he acted first and thought about it later. At the moment the only thing that came to him was the teaching of the Bokor and the ‘Sis Boohag. Words rose up in his mind, and his hands extended in front of him. “In the name of the Loa of Strength Sobo, I call forth his divine power to protect this lowly sorcerer. In the name of the Loa of Strength Sobo, I banish the evil Loa in my presence. In the name of the Loa of Strength Sobo, Spirit Shield!” A light shimmered and the air wavered as reality seemed to flicker and alter momentarily. A massive wave of energy thrust out from the darkness outside and he put up his arms in fear. The wave smashed up against something, although Chris could not see what. It was like the energy had hit a solid wall made of air. There was another shimmering and he could vaguely see the outline of a shield pressing against the arm…. but it was beginning to bend. There was nothing he could do and Chirs sighed to himself. “ I couldn’t even eat my dinner.” And that was that. Like breaking over a dam, the energy blast through the shield and proceeded to leave very little of Chris or the rest of the building in less than a few hundred pieces. Outside Oton looked on in horror and ran from the scene screaming in fear beyond fear. Chris sat under a streetlight, a chain coming out of the chest of his favorite shirt, and he didn’t remember to bring any smokes. This was just not his day. .....now what did the old Bokor say if I found myself dead....Was it let Eshu's messengers take me or was it don't..... I guess here in Japan they'd be called Shinigami. Screw that. I'm not about to let some ghostly grim reaper thing take me, I'm not done here yet." And so, determined not to meet his maker or for that manner have anything stop him, Chris set out through the lonely and dark streets of Default City. The chain on his chest wasn't particularly long, but the little there was dragged behind him on the pavement. There was a twitch from it, and Chris rubbed at his belly. " I really wished I could of eaten before whatever that was killed me....If I knew I'd be hungry as a spirit I would have stocked up...." The chain twitched again and Chris clutched at his stomach and fell to his knees. "Wha....what is this? I'm frig'n dead, why am I feeling this pain! Gah!" The tattoo punk falls forward onto his face and rolls up into a fetal ball of agony. The end of his chain began to chew on the link above it, gorging itself on the spiritual metal. After a time it stopped and let out a tiny belch, Chris was quite oblivious to all this, only realizing that the pain was gone, he got back up and began to walk again. ".....Man...I must be really hungry...." Chris sat there upon a curb after several hours of wondering about. The moon peeked past the lucid and liquid clouds, a white face staring out from a frame of black night. It was like a dream, surreal and abstract, nothing seeming truly real. Chris stared up at the scene in the sky and sighed deeply. "Tsukiyomi? God of the moon? Why do you stare at me so? Are you here to bother me too?" He stretched and leaned back. The clouds passed by and the moon glared more vividly through the sky, stars gleaming around it. The cratered face seemed to be smiling maliciously at him. He laughed slightly to himself. " Perhaps its not you Tsuki, perhaps its you Kalfu. You evil old Loa, following me all the way from the marshes of our home. Did Eshu send you? Or are you here to bother me on your own personal business? You too are a Lord of Crossroads, perhaps you want to lead me down your evil path. Here in the darkness that is your realm, staring so intently at me from your lunar home. Your bother had seemed to claim me, old Eshu or Legba....are you here to claim me instead? He is the Lord of the Dead though, Kalfu, however his realm is still in the light of day. You are master here in the night. Misfortune and destruction come at your hand, was it your children who did this to me? Are you the one who caused my death?!" He yelled into the night sky vainly, the moon hid again behind the clouds without ever answering. "Heh...." He wiped a hand down his face and rubbed at his eyes. "I'm talking to the moon...lunacy is it? Gods....." He stood up and dusted himself off, although no dust dirtied his ethereal body. "How would I even know? There are so many of them....for all I know Papa Ghede is the one after me or Thanatos, Yama, Enma, or any of the others. You Gods of Death need to get together and decided who's who because this is getting annoying. You know what? Screw You!" He held up his middle fingers to the all present darkness and laughed. He began to walk away from the spot, rubbing his stomach occasionally and mumbling. He decided that he was first going to find something to eat and then figure out the rest of the plan later. His breathing slowed suddenly, a chill came into the air and froze his breath into clouds of mist. It was sudden and unprecedented, he hadn't felt hot or cold since becoming a spirit...why would he be feeling it now? BOOM.....BOOM....BOOM A rumbling shook the ground, it felt very nearly like an earthquake if it hadn't been patterned. It was more like footsteps....footsteps of something very very big. Chris gritted his teeth and tried to keep calm, he wasn't sure what was going on, but he knew it could not be good. He slowly turned around and peered into the darkness behind him. Street lamps flickered and died all the way up the road, only allowing the tiniest hints of a form coming towards him. Chris stood frozen under the only lit light, unable to force his limbs to move. He could see the creature nearly clearly now, massive beyond imagination. It was nightmare given form, it was hell incarnate, it was all of the evils in the world bundled up into a single malignant entity. The moon shone brightly again through the clouds, it seemed to shine straight through the dark beast in front of Chris. He realized that it was really shining through it, a huge hole was centered upon the monster's chest. A long red tongue licked around sharp pearly white teeth. Two massive black legs held up an equally black reptilian body. The whole thing seemed to be covered a thick resin, slowly flowing over its hide yet never dripping. Long arms ended in clawed hands the size of automobiles, grasping and swaying as the creature came closer. Upon it all was a mask, it looked as if the thing had raided a Day of the Dead feast in Mexico and had come out with one of the faces. It was vaguely human, but that's as close it got. It was twisted in mock agony, bulging eyes and a mouth drawn up in a permanent grimace. Its mouth opened to reveal two sets of teeth, each sharp and chisel-like. A guttural roar emanated from deep within it. Chris fell to his knees and held his hands to his ears. The noise was deafening, screams of pure horror and rage flying out of the beast's throat. Then...then it was over. Chris looked up, hoping that it was all just a dream, but nay the beast was still there...and it seemed to be laughing. A echoed voice seemed to come from everywhere, "This? Ha! This is the spirit I've been trailing?! Its barely a mouthful! And look at it, curled up in fear! Its enough for me to almost feel sorry for it. Almost!" A claw flew downward towards Chris. Instinct kicked in, the flight or fight reflex that was in all human life. Dust and rocks flew as the monster's hand connected with the pavement and it laughed. As the dust cleared....there was nothing there. Chris stood only some few yards away, blood dripping from his leg a little, but otherwise mostly uninjured. He gritted his teeth and pointed at the beast. "DAMN IT! You damn Petros! Kalfu too afraid of coming for me himself so he sends in Oni and Petro?! You spirits hold no secrets from me! Jikininki is the Japanese name for you monsters, Hungry Ghosts! I'm not afraid of you! Try to get me! Just try it!" .....Well to make a long story short, it did. And Chris ran. He ran like a little girl. The monster stood there slightly dumbstruck for a moment before commenting, " .....Well...that was new.....I thought I was a Hollow....." The beast shrugged and began a plodding trot in the direct which Chris ran. Within seconds the Hollow caught up with the little morsel at the end of an alleyway. Chris stood there before the beast, his breath hard and ragged, his stomach aching him still. The hollow looked down at him, like a cat staring at a mouse wondering whether to play with its food first or go ahead and chow down. Words began to well up in Chris's mind. Words he learned from the Bokor and the Boohag, just like it had in the apartment building. The beast swiped at him and caught the tattooed man in its tight grasp. Its black flesh was cold and slimy, it felt like a dead slug had been wrapped around his body. The monster spoke, " You're annoying little appetizer, learn to quit while you're ahead." It opened its massive mouth and slowly descended down onto Chris. Chris smiled and replied to the hollow, " Learn not to underestimate your opponent!" He stabbed his tattoo gun from his back pocket into the Beast's hand and set it on full. The beast yelled and dropped Chris into a pile of trash. "I said I wasn't ready to leave yet! I won't be food either! Oh Bakulu! Loa of Chains! He who is not dared to be invoked! I, I Buh D'aak, inheritor of the Bokor Ayezen's lore! I INVOKE YOU!" There was silence as his words rang out through the chill air. Nothing happened, the hollow began a harsh toady laugh. "You can't even cast a proper spell! What a silly hu-" And that's as far as it got. The sound of chains rattling filled the air, the world went dark around them and red words formed in the air. Briefly it seemed that an old man wrapped in chains stood before Chris and the Hollow, but it disappeared as soon as it had formed itself from the nether. Chains wrapped around the hollow and locked tightly around it. It screamed inhumanly and Chris laughed darkly. " I TOLD YOU NOT TO SCREW WITH ME! BAKULU! LOA OF CHAINS! HE WHO IS NOT TO BE INVOKED! BRING DOOM TO MY ENEMY!" The monster yelled....then the chains squeezed. It burst into a shattered darkness then evaporated like smoke. Black resin splattered the ground where it had been chained, Chris had splotches of the slick residue clinging to his clothing and arms where the monster had held him. He kicked up dust and laughed, a deep and nearly insane laugh that filled the night. Then it hit him again. His own chain began to twist and writhe, sending him to the ground in pure white hot pain. Mouths began to chew and rip at the chain, eating away link after link of metal. He watched in horror as it worked its way closer to his chest and finally stopped. There wasn't much left of the chain, he wasn't sure what this was or what was going to happen to him. He laid there in the alleyway and watched as the sun peaked over the horizon, awaiting his doom.... What he didn't expect was to suddenly be bludgeoned in the forehead with the butt end of a sword. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chris would later awake to find himself in a different alleyway....only he didn't remember anything about himself. He could have sworn that just a short while ago he had been thinking about something...but now he couldn't remember much of anything. He recalled various "facts" and knowledge, he found himself able to recite the story of Gilgamesh from memory as well as how to make an effective voodoo doll and a myriad of other things. However no matter how hard he tried, he could not remember his name. "Well that leaves me in quite a dark conundrum doesn't it?" He found the he was naked but a simple loincloth, something he found odd in itself, but he also notice that he was covered in tattoos. His first thought was something along the lines of: "Dude! I must be some kind of awesome yakuza or something!" However the fact that he was a gawky, pasty, funky looking white dude immediately removed that from his mind. But then something kicked off in his head, a lot of the tattoos were of things her recognized as loa and petro from voodoo...."I'm...a voodoo sorcerer?" Actually the idea sounded really good to him and in no time he took on the Mantle of Bokor Buzzard. From his memory, he drew upon a memory of the mantle of Buzzard (or Buzzut as D'aak pronounces it) held by the strongest Root Sorcerers of the Lowcountry and added the title of Bokor. Needing a first name, he thought how he felt when he first woke up, quite quite dark. So, keeping with the Lowcountry theme, he chose the name D'aak. The next number of years, D'aak created a life for himself as a seller of charms, fortunes, and Root (a sort of snake oil type remedy.) His business slowly became incredibly popular with individuals from the poorer districts of Soul Society and over time he even started to get noticed by better communities. He became a sort of minor celebrity, it becoming popular to own a knickknack created by Bokor D'aak. And indeed, it seemed that his cure-alls and charms actually worked...well on occasion. The source of this power went unnoticed and unknown until a member of one of the Four Noble Houses decided to visit the Bokor. The Noble had gone to find what he presumed to be just some conman who had been manipulating the masses. Instead, the Noble found a conman that happened to have a massive amount of spiritual energy. All of his knick-knacks, charms, and fortunes were more or less fake, however the immense spiritual energy of D'aak himself imparted a certain stronger than normal placebo effect upon the items. The Noble knew that a soul with such spiritual power shouldn't be allowed to roam free and wild, it should be tamed into something usable by Soul Society. Thus D'aak was shoved into the Shino Academy to be forged into a respectable Shinigami....well respectable enough. After a short while of grumbling, D'aak took to the academy with ease, in fact enjoying every bit of knowledge he could learn and obtain. While all around him were geniuses who graduated in record times, D'aak took his time, taking every optional course he could, staying long hours after classes for additional research, and even sneaking into lectures that he himself was not assigned to. Several things became apparent in those years of learning. One, D'aak had no idea how to handle a sword like a proper Shinigami, often making a fool of himself as he tried to wield his practice katanas as though they were western blades. Second, despite his inability to properly wield a sword, he was none the less a proficient melee fighter as long as he was using something less sharp. Third, he was a Kido genius. The Kido classes came extremely easily to D'aak, oft times mastering the techniques in faction times and learning to cast them without incantations quicker than many of his seniors. It was here that D'aak truly shined and here that D'aak was most often praised. Many said that he had what it took to join the secretive Kido Corps, whose everyday actions were as secretive as the Onmitsukido and just as elite. However, come his graduation, D'aak was assigned to a seated position in the 2nd Squad. He did not complain, however, as working with the likes of Captain Youkai were a pleasure in an of itself. Here he learned to be stealthy, to act with speed, to be loyal to a fault but to also know when to cut his losses. The 2nd squad was a place for those ready to kill or be killed, willing to go the distance to obtain information, willing to do anything for the squad. D'aak, while not as gung ho as other 2nd squad members, took his role seriously and often led information gathering missions to the various dimensions. Despite the hard work, it fulfilled his lust for knowledge and kept away the boredom. Eventually a position opened in the Kido Corps for Vice Chief. No body told D'aak, and indeed very few people knew the position opened at all, however one night D'aak when to sleep in his usual spot in the barracks and awoke the next morning in a far grander room. Through a little bit of confusion and a few meetings with shinigami who were perhaps a slightly more unusual than average, D'aak discovered that not only was he in the Kido Corps hidden HQ but that he now the Vice Chief of the whole thing. Needless to say, he was overjoyed albeit thoroughly confused. And this is where he is now, the newly promoted Vice Chief of Kido Corps and all around strange fellow. Other: He is extremely superstitious and will go out of his way to throw salt over his shoulder, spit when a black cat crosses his path, pick a four-leaf clover, or any other insane things just to make sure he doesn’t have bad luck. ![]() Kidou: Name: Raikôhô (Thunder Roar Cannon) Number: 63 Type: Hadou Element: Lightning What is it?: A wave of pure white energy is fired out with a concussive pulse, sending a great beam to consume the opponent. The beam itself is fired in a beam with a diameter of eight meters even all around, causing massive damage. Though it cannot achieve a piercing effect through it’s strength, the beam is more than enough to break down barriers with slightly higher grades. Moreso, it’s range stretches just inside fifty meters, making this spell enough to level a city block in only one use. Activation Command/Chant: "Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle!" Name: Sôren Sôkatsui (Twin Lotus Blue Fire, Crash Down) Number: 73 Type: Hadou Element: Fire What is it?: Essentially a doubled version of #33, this spell fires two shots of blue fire with greater potency than the single-shot variety. Range is increased to fifty meters, with the blast radius now spanning fifteen, and the after-impact beam of energy released piercing outwards for twenty. Each shot is independent of one another, though the enhanced potency is only achieved if both projectiles hit. replenished. Activation Command/Chant: "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! On the wall of blue flame, inscribe a twin lotus. In the abyss of conflagration, wait at the far heavens. Name: Sajo Sabaku (Locking Bondage Stripes) Number: 63 Type: Binding Element: None What is it?: Straps of reiatsu suddenly swirl into existence around the target, though it is necessary to be at close range to use. After chanting the name of the technique, the user closes their hand and suddenly the target is bound around their arms and legs, from ankles to chin in a thick weave of straps. Super strength alone is not quite a way out, but it would make sense for a released espada, masked vizard, or a shinigami at bankai to be able to tear through the bonds with some work. Name: Gochû Tetsukan (Five Pillar Brace Of Steel) Number: 75 Type: Binding Element: None What is it?: Five spheres of light appear around the user’s hands as they focus their energies, charging this spell to use a great deal of concentration and spiritual power. Simply a bit of meditation, combined with the slow, concentrated way in which it is executed make up all the preparation for this devastating crush. After charging up and saying the incantation, the user then thrusts their hands to the ground and five pillars are summoned to crash down on the target, a force more than capable of pinning the target to the ground. The pillars themselves are several stories high, and carry the force of a few skyscraper-like bars bound together, creating an insanely heavy force that drops on the target and stays there until broken. Name: Byakurai (White Lightning) Number: 4 Type: Hadou Element: Lightning What is it?: By concentrating reiatsu at the fingertip, the user draws forth a great deal of their reiatsu, causing it to course through their body. From there, the energy is converted into a white lightning at the origin of its use, a fingertip, and fired out in a beam about two inches in diameter, with a fifteen foot range. Although energy has piercing properties, it should be understood that they are limited, especially when foregoing the usual attack command, but it remains a dangerous technique due to the sheer voltage it shoots through the target. Custom Spell Name: Himei (Shriek) Type: Hadou Number: 45 What is it?: D'aak's signature spell. Holding forth his zanpakuto, D'aak commands it to shriek as though he were releasing it. However instead of releasing into shikai, the monstrous head of the hilt releases a kido empowered scream. The scream is powerful enough to send a blastwave around D'aak, cratering the ground below him in a 4-5 meter radius. Opponents within personal range risk having their ear drums burst and being blasted away, opponents within the radius can be temporarily deafened and affected by the blastwave, and opponents in an area outside of the blastwave but no further than 10 meters away will be caused some ear pain. At personal range the damage can severe enough to cause hearing loss to 2 posts and the target looses their balance for 2 posts, at midrange the damage is strong but not severe and balance can be lost for 1 post, at distant range the attack is more of a distraction and causes some dizziness for a post. Custom Spell Name: Jinsoku Tama (Rapid Shot) Type: Hadou Number: 45 What is it?: A favorite of D'aak's that he developed while learning the Soren sokatsui. Jinsoku Tama, fires Reishi bullets similarly to an automatic gun, firing off 6 attacks with about level 50 piercing capabilities but only about level 3 in terms of destructive power, making Jinsoku an attack more for wearing down opponents or confusing them. These 10 attacks may be spread out or used all at once. Once all 10 shots are fired off, a 10 post recharge is required. This technique can be used without a chant but it ends up being 5 Sho-like shot, significantly weaker and without any piercing qualities. Activation Chant: "Ye Petro, Hands of Corruption, screaming void, ye who guards the Crossroads. The sting that follows through, the light that pierces the darkness, the spirit cries out the name. Agony wracks the unjust, Jinsoku Tama!" Techniques/Abilities: Eishohaki [Master]: As a human, D'aak had an incredible amount of magical capability and strength. Now that he is dead, a fair number of his original spells are lost to him however his strong magical talent has remained. Shunpo [Intermediate]: D'aak has two real strengths, his magical ability and his speed. Although he isn't as fast as most captains and he surely drags behind when compared to Speed specialists, D'aak is nonetheless incredibly fast on his feet. His peculiar gait adds to his speed a certain amount of unpredictability in his movements as well. Hakuda [Intermediate]: While not the best at hand to hand combat, D'aak nonetheless spent some time in the 2nd division and learned the basics plus a few tricks here and there. When he uses this, he prefers to let his flexibility and dexterity to pull off Akido-type moves. Hanki [Advanced]: As he is a magical specialist, D'aak has also learned to counter kido effectively. While still not at master level at this technique, he finds himself to be sufficient enough to hold his own in most kido-focused battles. Strengths: D'aak's main physical strengths is his dexterity, reach, and speed. While not as fast as speed specialists, D'aak nonetheless has a significant amount of his physical training based in speed. This along with his mastery of reitsu and his peculiar gait, he has a distinct speed edge in those less specialized. Additionally his longer than average arms and legs give him a distinct reach advantage is hand to hand and close range fights. Also his unique hands give him an unparalleled dexterity that allows acts of sleight of hand otherwise nigh impossible. However his real strengths are his kido and his mind. As a living human, D'aak possessed a massive amount of spiritual potential and magical prowess, able to conjure and manipulate great forces outside of the realms of shinigami or hollow. Now that he is a shinigami, he has lost contact with these forces but retained his massive magical potential. Although a few captains have greater power right out, D'aak is one of the most gifted Kido-users to come out of the academy in centuries and has plenty of room to grow in this aspect. As per his mind, D'aak normally appears to be very laid back, lazy, and a general hedonist. However he is constantly absorbing information from his surroundings, memorizing them, photographing them with his mind, analyzing it all thoroughly. Not only does this make him a good spy for the 2nd branch but it also makes him a great tactician in battle. Weaknesses: First and foremost, D'aak really has little sense in how to use a sword correctly. If he had a bunch of cooking knives then he'd be hell on wheels...or he could at least make some good sashimi, but a single long blade is a bit unwieldy for him. Thus, D'aak has very little straight cutting power when using his zanpaukto as it was designed for. Added to this, D'aak does not possess a great amount of upper body strength or personal physical endurance. While he is quite fast and agile, asking him to deadlift anything in a manner similar to one of those 11th squad fellows is completely out of the question. And while he has an insane and unwieldy amount of spiritual energy, he cannot really consolidate it enough yet to make the atoms thin physical barrier that captain levels are capable of, thus leaving him with his somewhat frail form as a target. Combat Style: General: If at all possible, D'aak likes to avoid battles. In cases where diplomacy or retreat does not seem like a viable option, D'aak prefers to either get in the first strike or obtain some form of "higher ground" type advantage. He does not have a great focus of physical endurance or defense, however he uses his agility and speed to make up for this, i.e. instead of taking more hits and shrugging them off, he attempts to get hit as little as possible. Most of his attacks are meant to confuse and wear down opponents until there is room to give a single powerful strike. Canne de Combat: D'aak, although weak with a sword, is incredibly able using his cane. This style makes use of his insane dexterity to twirl, parry, attack, and confuse his enemy as much as possible. He can use his cane double handed to act like a quarterstaff, using it to block, parry, and attack, or he can use it single handed to give himself greater attack power and range. He can use this technique two ways when attacking, using the blunt side of his cane to do heavy bludgeoning damage or using the sharpened end of his cane to stab or slash his opponent. This style is unpredictable when compared with the kendo techniques better known by Shinigami, giving D'aak room to move and act in manners that a swordsman would otherwise have sufficient trouble. He likes to use Himei when he is at close enough range to either throw off or heavily damage his opponent. Guns'A'Blazing: When sheer firepower is what's needed, D'aak is your man. When using this style of combat, D'aak gives it all to his speed and his Kido. He keeps at medium to far distances and uses this to unleash a fury of kido attacks. He normally uses binding attacks first in an attempt to bind/impair his opponent and follows it up with his Hadou attacks. Tama Tama is his main form of attack in this style, often relying on the Jinsoku form of the spell to wear opponent down or keep them at bay while he preps more powerful attacks. ![]() Zanpakuto name: Ghede Zanpakuto Spirit: Ghede Spirit Appearance and Personality : Ghede is a spirit of many shapes and personas, representing the many aspects of magic. However he primarily has three main minds/forms that represent the alignment balance of magic over individual classifications. Baron Samedi, Ghede's aspect of positive magic, appears as an older gentleman of African descent, wearing an outfit very similar to D'aak. Although Samedi represents the positive aspects of magic, he also represents the trickiness and the complexities of the magic arts themselves, making him a figure who is erratic and often times confusing. Representing the Negative side of magic is Kalfu, a lovecraftian being resembling the hateful spawn of a gulper eel and an octopus (the thing behind D'aak in the top picture.) While the Baron is laid back and generally friendly, Kalfu is antagonistic and violent. He represents the pure raw power of magic and the dangers of giving oneself totally to that power without restraint. Finally is Papa Ghede, who appears as a gray nondescript cloaked man who towers over all other Aspects of Ghede. He represents Neutrality and the balance of magic, the fact that inherently the power is neither good nor evil but merely a force to be manipulated. The three of them work in concert, Samedi offering up tactics, Kalfu tempting with more power, and Ghede giving sage advice. The Inner World within which they live appears as a massive graveyard, stretching onwards into infinity. Each grave is inscribed with the name of a spirit, a spell, a god, or anything of magical importance that D'aak knows. Amongst these graves are larger tombs representing more important information and huge mausoleums that house D'aak's inner most secrets, thoughts, and demons. The graveyard is also sectioned off into three areas, each of which house a large church/temple. Each of the three main aspects of Ghede reside in and lord over one of these three sections. Dormant Appearance: In its sealed form, Ghede appears as a long ebony walking cane tipped at one end with a sharp metal point and headed at the top with a carved ivory head resembling the Kalfu aspect of Ghede. Pressing the back of the cane's head unlocks it and allows D'aak to draw a small stiletto from the top of the cane. However it is not simply the blade that is Ghede but the cane as a whole. Ghede's shape often confuses those used to seeing normal blades as zanpakuto and often gives D'aak at least a momentary advantage, whether this means simply not having to draw a weapon or being able to defend more effectively with it than one would expect with a cane. ![]() Shikai Call: Exhume, Ghede! Shikai Appearance: When released, Ghede transforms into a pair of Pince-nez with the glass tinted a deep royal purple. Although fairly unassuming, these glasses were powerful symbols of the Mantle held by Root Doctors. The deep purple were only for the most powerful of these Mantles, most famously the Mantle of Buzzard. When the shikai is activated, D'aak's magical potency increases enormously and the glasses themselves act as a sort of limiter to this overwhelming power. D'aak claims that the glasses, if removed from his face while he were in this state, would allow him to achieve the absolute limit of magical potential. However he acknowledges that doing so at this point would immediately destroy him. He feels that one day he will be strong enough to preform this act and achieve Bankai. Shikai Abilities: Sou no Sobo [Aspect of Sobo]: Related to a technique D'aak knew in life, the Aspect of Sobo calls upon the power of the Rada (Positive Energies.) When active, this Aspect empowers D'aak's Jinsoku Tama and turns it into the more powerful Sashiki Tama. The Sashiki Tama compresses and further empowers the energy of the spell at the expense of its piercing qualities. Sashiki Tama fires 6 spiritual shots each with the Kido rank of 30, with two shots possible to be fired in a single post. Once these shots have been used, D'aak must recharge 10 posts before he can use this technique again. Power Incantation: "It is I, the Hand of Sobo. My reach knows no bounds." Sou no Agau [Aspect of Agau]: Related to a technique D'aak knew in life, the Aspect of Agau calls upon the power of the Petro( Negative Energies.) The Aspect of Aagu grants D'aak the ability to channel pure destructive Kido through the Ghede glasses. With this power, D'aak may fire one Cero-like blast from Ghede per post for 5 posts,D'aak must recharge for 10 posts before gaining access to Sou no Agau again. D'aak may no use Agau nor Sobo at the same time and must wait at least two posts between them. Power Incantation: "It is I, the Voice of Agau. When I roar, the Earth Trembles." Now see here! That's enough of this super-young crap. You make that shinigami at least seventy years of age, boy. >:0 (I'm really not joking)
No. Ignoring the convolution of the whole idea, no custom techniques. Period.
No permanent hearing loss, skippy. And give this damn thing a number. Now, since the hearing loss WILL NOT be permanent, how long does it last at each range?
Kidou are one off things, man. It's not "well if I turn sixty degrees, stick a finger up my ass, and twist, then it's ten times as strong." One thing. One level. Period.
GRC is too strong for a shikai...ignoring how this ability has a passive boost and an active application...at the same time. Might wanna change that.
Too strong for shikai. |

Edited. As per the Kojutsu thing, I deleted it. The only reason why I thought I could get away with it is I've seen other sheets using items from the Bleach Wiki in the abilities section, so I thought why not since Hachi used to be the Vice Captain of Kido Corps and he used it. However I understand he's a different case. *nods nods* |
