There stands another hot-spot, almost as much a massacre as the city in Italy, but even more recent. Within the same country as the rather medieval hotspot, it was populated by the same dark-skinned and mostly light-haired people. However, due to cultural exchange with America, its modern architecture has become nearly identical to an American city. It sports paved roads, wooden telephone poles, a few towering skyscrapers (the tallest one being nearly twice the size of the rest), houses built right alongside each other to the point where their walls touch, apartment complexes, super stores and so on. It even has the remains of an airport sponsored by an American company.

Despite its Americanized style, it was not a multi-racial community. Nearly every celebrity photo, mannequin, painting, picture and so on had people with the same color-scheme; copper skin and light hair (most often blonde, but every now and then a white or amber; there are a few greens and blues, but those most likely seem to be dyes).

This particular massacre seems to have happened within the last month. There is not a single living thing in this city. Most of the corpses have only recently started to decay, but they decorate nearly every street, every building interior and even the subway trains that still seem to be running on automated schedules. Most of the power in the city still works, only a few districts have lost complete power. TVs are still on, phones off the hook are still playing dead-signals and some dance clubs’ light shows are still going on.

Like the city in Italy, “blood” seems to be a popular color. It decorates some phone-booths, a number of cars, a few locker rooms, most subway cars and every building. Some of the victims seem to have died rather spontaneously, as if they simultaneously had heart attacks. Others are sliced nearly in half, and others still seem to have been partially eaten. Some are missing legs, some are missing arms, some are missing their head. Most, however, died of fatal wounds in one way or another.

“Creepy” is an understatement. “Eerie” is an understatement. “Haunting ,” “traumatizing” and “scarring” are not.

The country’s government responded in much the same way the Italian government did; a temporary quarantine until they could “Discern the cause,” due to the fact any investigators met much the same fates. Even overhead observational attempts like helicopters and jets seem to be swatted out of the sky.

This place seems to be a particularly powerful hotspot, despite the relatively recent bloodbath. Its very state of being seems to suggest that this hotspot sprung up nearly overnight.

There are a number of hollows here, and even a number of ghosts, but they’ve only survived as long as they have by learning to hide. And if Aokigahara or the medieval ruins are any indication, they won’t be around much longer.

Arngrim couldn’t help but whistle at the sight. Corpses and blood everywhere, open cars (they were called cars right?), remnants of car-crashes and even a few still-burning fires, namely a crashed helicopter and the still-burning building it crashed into (likely the result of some surveillance attempt by the local government).

Now most people might have been off-set by taking a casual stroll across a city of corpses, but Arngrim wasn’t exactly a virgin to this sort of thing. He used to be a participant in medieval warfare after all; taking a casual stroll across a field of corpses was generally the only way to get back to your home after all.

Arngrim wasn’t here for any very specific reason, but he and the rest of his personalities had been inspecting any newly discovered hot-spots. They weren’t looking for anything in particular, but anything that seemed out of place… in a mountain of corpses and a mostly dead silent city.

At least he got used to the smell.

Where should he actually start looking though? The streets didn’t seem too promising; one of the buildings might suffice but... which one?

Arngrim sighed; this assignment sucked and he knew it.

Using his arms to help, he hopped up onto a car parked quite conveniently in the midst of massacred traffic.

Suddenly he knew he wasn’t alone. He could feel that cold animalistic stare bearing down on him from one of the monsters that did this.

All Arngrim did was shoot a stare back at him. Not a word was spoken. Nothing needed to be spoken; they were predators of different species but of the same genus. They respected one another, and they did so by fearing one another as they both bared their own fangs.

The hollowified shinigami spat on the pavement and walked back into his residence, phasing right through the door on his way in.

Leaning back onto the roof of the car, the man couldn’t help but wonder exactly what he was going to do here.

Well we could always go streaking… Or just take stuff. There’s no one around. Shion chimed in.
