How do you put the music "in the hands" or "in the fingers? Like when you're learning a new piece, what techniques do you use so that the fingers play the right note everytime? Please share your piano techniques and practice tips... |

first, there are standard exercises that everyone should practice includind scale practice in all forms: RH then LH then both play scales in different formats which include arpeggios chords so as to become familiar with the fingering for all scales ( most pieces contain this kind of thing) then techniques involving velocity and dynamics ( generally as notes go up we play harder and as you go down softer) then practice without looking at the keyboard this is essential! then improvise something everyday this makes you discover what you need to better and shows you your limitations so you can work to eliminate them , then practice notes in octaves in both hands with the right fingering there are books for this |

practices and exercises like hanon? what books are used after a student has completed the full range of method books, like, say, Alfred's Premier Piano Course? What should be used after that? |
