Wow, great, I like it a lot! It's the first time I heard the song actually. Not only did you two introduce a nice new song to me which I like, but you two did a great a performance as well! Nice soulful singing, gave me some shivers of delight!

I liked the choice & version of "One Night Only" most of all. Most people would do "And I Am Telling You..." from Dreamgirls, but it suits very few voices. I think your voice might suit a song like "Half Of You" - by Brownstone. kortekaas » Korte Kaas - roughly "Short Cheese" - now I understand your avatar! |

Hi Ackgher! Thank you so much! I've learned a lot since 'one night only' but I'm still pleased with it. I was really nervous then, it was an audition and I'm not that good with jury's... I really love Brownstone! Great sound, warm voices... that would be something I'd sing indeed! Do you have sheets for that?? Greetz! |

I thought they had promise, but disappeared when MJJ music went under. I don't own have a copy of the sheets, only one person I know has the original, and he wants at least 7 impossibly obscure nu-soul 70's books in exchange for it - I only have 3 from the list so far |

About Brownstone, are you referring to the group Brownstone? I haven't come across any R&B songbook containing the song "Half of You." What is the name of the songbook? There is a musical called Brownstone by Peter Larson and it's the musical score floating around on the net. Edited by weemouse, 16 Sep 2010, 09:11.

Hello, I meant the R'n'B Group - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brownstone_(group) "½ Of You" is the final track from the debut album - "From The Bottom Up" - it's a nice ballad in the sort of range and feeling that I thought would suit kortekaasje's voice. A small pressing of a PVG album was released at the time, almost all traces of it having disappeared. A user in a Korean forum has a copy having shown me a page as proof. But he only collects very difficult items now, having most everything else. Almost everything available, even to buy, online is no good, as he says he'll just buy them, or that everyone can get them then! The list is (all must have all pages, covers, essays etc): Weather Report - "Heavy Weather" - Book *Not the Japanese Reissue* (I have a physical copy of this) Billy Preston - "The Best Of Billy Preston" (I have a physical copy of this) Teena Marie - "Wild & Beautiful" Book - 1979 Ramsey Lewis - "The In Crowd - Party on The Piano" Book - 1974 Sheena Easton - "Sheena Easton" Book - 1980/81 Huey "Piano" Smith - "Collection" Book - 1984 (He swears this exists!) Modern Jazz Quartet - "MJQ Favourites" With CD (I have a copy of this) Jane Siberry - "The Best of Jane Siberry" 2003 (He swears this exists!) Herbie Hancock - "Head Hunters" Band Score Well, you get the general idea! There are more items, but I can't even find any reference to them even through rare sheet music sourcing services. I'm not holding my breath! kortekaasje: sorry to hijack your thread. Edited by ackgher, 16 Sep 2010, 10:35.

ha ha no problem ackgher! Those are indead difficult scores... I really don't understand those folks... what's the big deal. It's a book someone scanned, as if the first reason to scan was to make a profit... well, let's just keep looking! finding them will be difficult, but with all the pages will be even more difficult. When I scan a book, I usually leave out the non-score pages as photo's etc. Only the cover and index are to be kept... |

That is indeed a difficult list just for the Brownstone song! Also quite unfair - several rare songbooks for one rare single sheet music. The best bet is for someone to transcribe it. Edited by weemouse, 30 Sep 2010, 12:05.

Oh, It's actually for the whole book of the whole album, not just that one track. You're right - it really would be ridiculously unfair for a single song! He actually has a lot of items that I thought he was just making up to look good as they aren't listed anywhere else. However, I successfully traded with him for some impossibly hard to find Scott Walker sheets, that I didn't believe existed, but he came through, good to his word! If anyone wants a real challenge I'll post his demands for a copy of "Tom Waits & Crystal Gayle - One from the Heart Soundtrack Album"! - I'm gessing you'll never of heard of most of them!
