Gunz, long time no speak, same with you Acheron. What if you made it entirely roleplay and abolished the idea of seasons? You cound have the new guys start out as vassals. |

Here is my idea for a way to link an optional RP to the game: Every noble house that wants to sends a member of the household to the wall due to some "call for new recruits". Perhaps some people will RP a criminal who was in the castle dungeons, some will RP a noble son, or whatever else kind of character they want. We have very basic stats set up, we create a loose story for people to be guided by, and one of us mods while we let the RP take off. It would be a whole different but connected world. They would occasionally hear what happened to their families down south, which ones were conquered etc... I haven't worked out what benefits there will be (if there are any) but I think a few people came up with the good idea of Valyrian steel blades for the commanders of those who RP the best. What do you think? I think its the best way to have a connected but distinct RP element Edited by Acheron, Oct 3 2008, 07:32 AM.

The problem with making a board like this entirely role play is, well, a lot of things. First of all, if you're a king you can just claim you have however many troops you want. As long as you keep that number constant and fairly reasonable, no one can second guess you. Another problem is player interaction. I would want to be a hedge knight, or just a wanderer in general; others would want to be Black Brothers, others kings, others nobles...and the even larger problem is that we'd all be separated. Unless you have fifty some active members, that wouldn't work out too well. Even if we had everyone just role play kings/emperors and their troops, there'd still be a lot of loopholes. Acheron's idea is best, at least in my opinion. Set a scenario, have people make characters that can fit in it, then role play out some loosely scripted events (READ: loosely scripted, as in the moderator who is leading the role play has some idea where it's going, but it can definitely change depending on the other people). I'm sure we could get one or two of these done each season, maybe even more. Rewards wouldn't be terribly wonderful; a valyrian steel blade for your commander, as well as all your future role playing characters should you wish it. Not much, but certainly a nice bonus for lovers of the series. |
