Technically this city is now mine as 6 days are up and no defenses have been posted. I have agreed that no besieging rule changes have been made, so feel free to post using any troops tributed by Cenedil, but please post defense by tomorrow, or I will take the city as is my right. |

Lord of Harrenhal
|
(We have until 10 Central, so the time really wasn't up yet. Anyway...) Defending batallions: 1 Men-at-arms Cost: 30 The day is cold and wet, the wind chilling in bite and mournful in tone. The few men brave-or foolhardy-enough to make a stand are gathered just inside the city. The rest of the city's occupants-the women, the children, the old and infirm, and the cowards-or "the wise", in their own eyes-have fled to the sanctuary of other nearby cities, or for the refuge of Harrenhal itself. Deep Den stands abandoned and forsaken, but not without one last blow at the Southern invaders. |

The scouts began returning covered in rain that chilled to the bone. The reports were all the same, the city appeared abandoned and there were no signs of enemy forces in the surrounding fields and glens. There had been signs of a retreat toward Harrenhal as well. It looked as if the small folk, as in days of old, were retreating to the sanctuary of their castle. The Young Bull was glad for this, glad that he did not have to act as the butcher at the Gate, the usurping bastard Black had acted. He had seen the wrath of men whose homes had been burned, children killed and wives raped and wanted no part of it. He despised Black and the Lord of Harrenhal for allying with such scum. He could easily wreck the town with his siege weapons, burning it to the ground and leaving it as a heap of rubble, but that would make him only slightly better than Black. He would give these men of Deep Den a chance, an opportunity to see the error of their ways. An opportunity to support a just and caring ruler. A chance to swear allegiance to the White Bull. "Unsullied set up a perimeter around the town, I must be made aware if this is a trick and the real forces are hidden elsewhere. Knights you will be the main force, with the archers as support. We will go through town street by street and door to door if we have to. No man will move without his back covered. No man will enter a building without support, and all of their men must be given the opportunity to surrender and swear fealty to the rightful king of Westeros." The Unsullied spread out in groups of four and began to set up a perimeter around the town. The Knights and archers then formed groups of five with three Knights and two archers and started for the city. It would be a long day or days, but they were well trained in the skills of urban combat, comfortable going door to door, and confident that in the end their losses would be minimal. The Young Bull started back for his tent, a Raven must be sent to his father, who had begun his move on Sunspear, if help was needed in the South he had capacity to spare. He also hoped to find a few messages waiting for him when he arrived. There had been no news from Lord Harroways Town or the Twins, those battles could significantly alter his future plans, and he longed for a better use of his troops. After these tasks were completed, it would be back to the city to help and inspire his men. He held out hope that the men of Deep Den would see the error of their ways and swear fealty, but he understood that the odds were this would be much more difficult than that. |
