The White Bull looked out over the ruins of Summerhall, a view of what once was and under his rule what could be again. "Damen," he called his young lieutenant to his side. "I had wanted to send you to lead our troops against the Ironborn at the Bloody Gate. I know that you must be frustrated that this is the second time, after Ctrakehall where you have been denied the chance of testing your steel against the transplants from Pyke. I have my reasons though, and i assure you that in a few weeks you will be given the chance to recieve more glory in this war than any other." "Thank you m'Lord." "Luther is currently watching the West, and I hope that we will see Willas and young Donnell again, although their battles in Dorne are dire. You have more than proved yourself on foot and as a commander of Unsullied, but the next army you lead will be much more varied. You have let to lead the Knights of Flowers, and while Willas is their true commander, there are no assurances that he will return from Dorne in time, or at all for that matter. I will take 10 knights and 5 archers and will act as your reserve. Call on me when needed, as the command in this battle will be entirely yours. Let see how you can wield that Valyrian steel that's been in your family for so many generations." And with that the White Bull moved to the rear. Damen watched as he set up the reserve on a hill overlooking the field. Time for another audition, he thought. It seemed like the bull was always testing his men, and while Damen longed to be defending the gate, he knew that his time would soon come. "Archers move into range." He watched as the formed a line and readied their longbows, and then he rode towards the knights. "They say you are the elite, the finest fighting force in the land, and unmatched in skill by any others in Westeros. It's time to see what your really made of. Form into wedges, 4 of them and ready your lances. They have no spears or pike, and they have no archers for support. After our archers soften them up a bit we will charge and they will break. Make your lance count, any knights who make the first pass without skewering a man will have to walk back to camp, so you best make them count." Damen knew how much the knights hated to be off of their mounts. He looked back at the archers who were now in position. "Notch, draw.........................loose!!!" The battle had begun. The White Bull sat calmly in the reserve. Damen's voice was so loud that he had clearly heard all of his instructions and they made him smile. Damn was he good, a rival to even his own son. He would have to be elevated to the level of general shortly. |

Thre was nothing in this land, only dust, and like dust it seemed they’d perish. Forever forgotten So like dust they stayed. They stayed in there homes…waiting. They are men like you and I, merchants, and like merchants they stayed. So now the White Bull attacked a seemingly undefended city.. The end was upon them, and for that, they could not wait. |

This will truly be a test for young Tarly, thought Lord Hightower. He has proved that he can win on open fields and with superior numbers, but what will he do to these men who refuse to come out fo their houses. Damen called the archers to a halt and addressed his troops. "I could have you notch fire arrows and we could burn this entire city to the ground. Summerhall, although not what it once was has done much to rebuild. I will not be razed again on my watch. Knights dismount, and pair up with an archer. We will take each house one by one, with the Knights doing the clearing and the archers covering them. Any man who runs should be shot, any man who kneels will be given the chance to swear fealty to Lord Hightower." "Lord Hightower," he addressed the White Bull directly, "I will need you and your reserve to act as the goalers. The reserve will be needed to bind any many who kneels.' The White Bull reared back his head and laughed long and loud. "Well Damen, you certainely have no problem weilding the power I have given you. I will act as your goaler if I must, as I have never been one to shirk a duty, but make this as quick as you can, I feel that we will be needed shortly in the north." With that Damen drew Heartsbane from his sheat and approached the first house accompanied by 2 knights and 3 archers. Groups of knights and archer of similar size began to approach some of the other houses as well. The archers watched the windows for any targets as the knights approached the door. "Come out and kneel before the man who will be king, Lord Hightower of Oldtown," shouted Damen as he reached the door. When he heard no response he lashed out with Heartsbane, bringing it down upon the door in a huge arc and rendering it to splinters. He hoped that after the first few houses had been cleared the rest of Summerhall would get the message. |

What was this? Questioned the owner of that first house silently/ “What sort of ruler must remind people of his rule? This was Summerhall, this White Bull should be begging mercy from the Lord of Highgarden, but then he was defeated. This would not stand; he would not allow it. “He grasped his sword and slowly approached the entrence. Whoever the man was, he would need to die, and the city had to awaken. |

After the first ten or so houses had been cleared Damen returned to the rear to meet with the White Bull. It would be a long night for his men, but the battle was now well in hand. "My lord, many are now starting to yield and bend the knee. They know that it is hopeless, and many have heard tales of your rule. Our men our handling things smoothly as well. There is little bloodlust and the men know that raping will not be tolerated." "You have done well today Damen and assuaged any doubts I harbored. When this battle is completed you will be rewarded." "Thank you my lord." "Our ally Lord Manderly is currently battling our enemies in the north. He has enough men, but the battle is on two fronts, and the generals he is facing are more than capable. It is time for us to support them with more than gold and supplies." "I agree my lord let us show these riverlords and ironmen that they are no match for Oldtown." "Your excitement is clear, and you have proven yourself in battle. When this battle is complete you will meet with an army I have been raising in the south. They are currently under the command of Ser Alfred Redwyne, but you will take command when the forces merge. Ser Redwyne is very capable, and I encourage you to heed his advice, but the command will be yours alone. The target is Lord Harroways Town, it is the key the Riverlands, and it must be had. Do not fail me now Damen." And with that the bull rode off leaving Damen to reflect on this turn of events. Damen unsheathed heartsbane and headed back out to his men, there were still a few houses left to clear, and he wanted his men ready to march as soon as possible. |
