Bloody Gate Attacking Attacking With: 2x Men-at-arms 1x archers 1x pikemen Cost:140 gold dragons Adding new units 1x Bannermen of Riverrun 1x Archers 1x Men-at-arms Now i know this might be wrong or against the rules if it is i will remove this but i recall you were allow to edit your attacking post if the defender had not replied yet. I don't have a problem with editing since Turncloak has yet to post. But I do have issues with two small things, both most likely easily corrected. First you don't have enough gold to support the movement cost of all of your units, so my interpretation is that you will have to borrow from one of your alliance members if you want to add the additional forces. If Turncloak posts before you borrow, I think you should only be allowed to post as many troops as you can afford to move. The second is more of a question, should Turncloak have additional time to post a response, now that the attack has been changed? |

Uh the money part was a error on my part i thought i had 250 gold i will get the 40 to complete the attack. but as far as i know this does restart her time to post. |

( You didn't say the weather or place so i assume its near the town.) Today the Bloody Gate would earn its title again. Robert Black knew to move his army as quickly as he could past the smaller choke points and head for the small town that held the Gate's people that was were the land trade from the rest of Westros came into the vale from and Robert had taken some traders with him who knew the town well. This would not be a battle like Crakehall his men would not be shot at from archers in hiding he was going to fight northmen the old enemies of the Ironborn. "Men today we fight the men of snow and ice! today we show them what ROCK and SALT do to them!" riding past some men to the front" Rock to shatter the Ice and salt to melt their snow!"He boomed. "They have brought those women men of the east here! we will show them what REAL men are made of!" With that they advanced Men-at-arms in front with the Pikemen divided on the flanks the Bannermen also divided wide on the flanks With the archers in back. Yeah, forgot that. Shall we say midday-ish then? Also, this will tie in to the battle at Saltpans…at least this post) He stood before the gate to the Vale and the gate to the North. The Bloody Gates, they were called. But instead, it seemed, that the two forces were destined to meet near it, not on it. When Ser Garlen Flowers caught sight of the encampment, he was awestruck, indeed he feared these squids, and yet, he had the urge to feast upon them. So here he stood, about an hours ride from the town, where they would meet. He chuckled, if he had a trebuchet, he’d have welcomed the Black’s with roasted squids. Yes, it was said that Lord Petyr had an interesting sense of humor, not that it would help him. If the scouts told it true, they were outnumbered, but not enough to give them the disadvantage. “Ser Garlen,” he turned and looked at Lord Kevin, “the council awaits.” Garlen nodded his head in reply and departed towards his tent, indeed this would be an interesting battle. He entered to see that all the other officers had already seated, which seemed only fitting for his rank. “Ser Garlen,” started one of the officers on the other side of the table. “We have received news that Lord Black has assembled his forces.” “What did you expect?” questioned Ser Garlen. “Did you expect him to come here to swear fealty? I think not. We have a duty today, a duty to defend the Gates from those vile, cruel men who come from Pyke. How many men are with us?” “Four hundred, whereabouts.” Answered Lord Kevin. “The Black’s have five hundred.” “No siege weapons?” “No ser.” “Good. We should be able to get them in the rear. You said they were assembled?” “The last scout to check reported such, yes.” “Then I want this to go as follows.” He looked around to where the commanders of the archers and unsullied stood, strong men and proven, they would be much help indeed. “Commander Janos, I’m going to need you to have the unsullied captain’s form up in a protective wedge with the archers, the unsullied will act as their shields. Have the Unsullied in the from ranks to go abreast with their shields overlapping and ready to break through enemy lines.” “Aye.” Said Janos. “The elite ser?” someone questioned. “-Will stay in reserve until instructed. Questions?” He looked around, no one spoke. “Then let’s move. ( The Blood of the first men are not on your chart so i will just think they are not there or at least in hiding, Also your reserves are not on the chart.) The North men got a good distance on the Iron Born troops. Before one called out to his fellows "Enemy on the rear!" Robert Black was only a little shocked. He expected two things from the northmen. One, that they might bring troops from Saltpans. Second that they would use trickery like most grass lander armies. "Archers Turn About, Men-at-arms Turn about!" The archers were fewer then the men-at-arms and turned about swiftly, for the men-at-arms but there was some slowness. "The Northmen had formed a wedge made of unsullied" A Young Captain called to Robert Black The Iron born had marched up a slight slope to get to the city so the Northmen who were attacking on the rear were marching up the slight slope themselves. "Archers Throw your caltrops!" With that Archers reached and took a small bag from their waist and throw them at the enemy formation aiming randomly arcoss the field trying to cover it. Each man was given a small bag filled with a few of the Spiked trops but with a hundred men, the field in front of the army was almost covered with the small spikes.The small for spiked trops would force one of two things on the enemy army. Break formation to avoid them or Walk through them and damage their unsullied's ability to march perfectly. Even if they didn't work perfectly they would slow the enemy enough for the ironmen to move out of the wedge's way and flank the unsullied. The Bannermen though on the flanks wheeled their horses around and began to move from the flanks right and left so they could flank the northmen when they pushed up. The Iron men had the city so they put the northmen in the position of the attacker and what an a horrible position that was! "Archers FIRE!" Robert shouted and with that a hundred arrows took flight. |

“We are outnumbered but we must win.” How green he felt, now that they saw the enemy position, its metal gleaming on the grass. How were they to go past this? If they go they’ll die, stay…could this be their advantage? He put his arm up in the air and called a halt, this would not stand.. “Form up-wing!” he shouted, and they obeyed. Within minutes, the Unsullied and archer flanks had separated and moved forward in a fashion that allowed them to have a good shot at the Ironborn, and t the same time would allow them to quickly form up again. “Front, pole!” he shouted, the Unsullied on the front beside him knelt and with their shields in front of them overlapping, poked their spears upwards at an angle. He looked pack, not knowing where his other men were, those led by Garlen. “Unsullied-inner-shield” Once again the command was obeyed, the row behind him kneeling not as much as them, the Unsullied shields up highs to prevent them from getting hit, until those at the very back of their lines was standing. ”Archer’s, fire when ready!” They were prepared. The Iron men watched the enemy begin to form up and wait, The Iron Born didn't, they simply marched on to the town. The enemy would have to attack, or just listen to the screams as the Iron born sacked the town. "I want Archers on those roofs. I also want the men-at-arms to form up at the main roads into town. Banner men will ride to the other side of the town and await a flaming arrow." Robert told his Captains. "When your banner men see them Theon, that will mean an attack. I want you to ride around and hit the enemy flanks. Not even the unsullied would be able fully repel a charge of fully armed men and horse." The Young captain made a quick salute and rode off with the Banner men With that he waved his arm toward the town and the Iron born went about their task with grim resolve. These men had done the same to the soldering ruin that was Crakehall and they would do the same here. Robert watched as men poured into houses and killed the residents then took the spoils. Archers filled the roofs through the town. "Let them come!" Robert shouted his voice booming over the cries" Let them come!" |
