The White Bull

Defending:
1 Men at arms
1 Pikemen

The sun was shining and it was hot. The smell of Kings Landing drifted out towards the attackers, and what a rank smell it was. The smell of sweat, blood, shit and tears of thousands of men. The smell in short of the capital.

Lord Petyr surveyed the field; his hair tied back, his armor gleaming. It was a fine day to fight indeed. Not long before, his brother- half-brother- left for Oldtown, and it now he stood by another city to conquer, the heart of Westeros, he thought. From here, the cities and towns of the alliance that was created between him, the Viper and the White Bull could finally meet and combine, for the day of storms draws nearer, and with it would come blood. He could smell it, hear it and taste it in his mouth; the song of swords, the rivers of blood…but here be a task that he must complete.

I have come to a gate, he thought to himself, but I do not know what will happen if I open it. But there is a domain to be won. He did not know whose domain, but all he knew was that the result would bring forth a new era…of what? War? Peace? There was a man in the riverlands whose name was Black, a man of the Iron Isles. In the Reach, there was a man they called the White Bull, who believed in peace. What would happen when they clashed? He did not know, did not want to know, for that may infect his mind with thoughts, he had to focus on the battle.

He surveyed the field again; he could see poles- thought anyways- most likely pikemen. The rest seemed to be men-at-arms. He snorted; this task would be easy he thought. “Men-at-arms form up. Archers wait for my instructions. Wait until the foe makes his move. Archers, you wont be using regular arrows today, no. You are to put those fire arrows through any gap in the pikes armor, but only on my say so. Footmen, you will fight the other foot, once we draw them out. Archers should only fire on enemy foot if they seem one coming for them. If the pikes come at you archers, switch to shortsword and try to distract them. But hopefully, they’ll get hot…unless they’re used to the neat of course.”

"Your grace they seem to be waiting us out," said Anton Blackfyre. He was a Targaryen bastard, and said to be royal blood, but in truth there was no Loyalty left to the land anymore. Westeros was divided now, into two main factions, and no one gave the so-called King in Kingslanding a second thought.

If only I had dragons, thought Viserys VIII, it's not fair my ancestors always had dragons. And now I'm going to be the one who loses Kings Landing. It's just not fair. "Good, let them wait, those little cravens. They have the gall to attack me, the Targaryen King. Anton, show them what we are made of. Form the men at arms into a wedge and lead the van in a full on assualt of their position. I will lead all of the Pike on the right flank and we will crush these Northern pretenders."

I hope that this is not the end for us, thought Anton. He had seen his father growing more and more frustrated with the lack of respect given to him by the other lords. And now as Kings Landing was attacked, he was only able to raise 150 men to defend it. What a shame it was that the great Targaryen realm would go out with such a wimper. Well at least it is a beatiful day to day. Anton, began to run and the men at arms followed, keepeing to the wedge as well as they could, soon they would see what these men of the north were made of.

He had to get this battle started already…or at least the foe did. Who was this Blackfyre anyway? A bastard, a king’s bastard held no honor if he called himself the king of men, as his brother would soon learn, if he did not see his place. But the time was now and now they must fight. He wanted to go further on in thought when he saw the foe coming.

He turned his ho0rse to face them. “Archers, fire when ready.” He ordered them. “The lot of you form a bowl shape.” The wedge neared. He smiled, footmen, all of then. “Swallow ‘em up whole.” He said. “I want the archers up from, when they’re in melee range, ready your shortswords.”

This was a day for blood.

Although Anton was a kings bastard, and had had some training in war tactics, he was not the brightest if field generals. Men to his left and right were dropping and burning and in panic, he led the wedge directly into the enemy formation. His men were soon surrounded and although fighting hard were clearly demoralized after watching their brethren afire and finding themselves surrounded.

The king cursed. "Well what else could I expect from a bastard," held said to no one in particular. He continued to lead the charge on the right flank, their only chance would be to take out the archers, and it was a huge risk at that. It looked like the gods were not with the dragons today, and without a miracle the dragon lords would be wiped off the face of Westeros.

“Shit!” shouted Petyr realizing his small mistake. This would not mean well at all. But perhaps all was not lost, he hoped. He tried to picture their position, archers up front, and enemy men at arms center. They wouldn’t risk killing their own would they? Or was this king selfish and greedy enough to do so? But if the enemy was leading the flank...archers were in the back. Could they still go as planned?

“Archers move back!” he ordered. “Footmen, make sure the archers are unopposed!” he shouted. “Form up archers form up!”

As he noted earlier, the pikemen worse heavy plate, therefore moving slower.” Quickly now! I want to see some blood, take this so called king alive. We’ll show him what it really means to be a dragon!”

The pikes were nearing now; he could hear the sound of steel. He heard a hiss as the first arrows were lit with the oiled rag. “Notch,” he shouted atop his horse. Yes, he could hear it now. “Draw,” he said again, “LOOSE!”

Indeed, this so-called king would taste true fire.

Surrounded and weakend significantly by the long charge and enemy archers, Anton Blackfyre and his men met their deaths at the gates of kings landing. The pikes faired better under king Viserys and did some damage to the archers, but in the end they were too small of a force and could not save the day. The Targaryens were wiped clean from Westeros their names and deeds only to be seen and heard in scrolls and the songs of bards.

Kings Landing Goes to Turncloak.
Losses: None
Reasons:I almost took a unit of Archers. I thought that you did an excellent job dealing with the charge by my men at arms, but your plan for dealing with the charge of the pike was a little unclear and somewhat lackluster. That being said I think that your overall plan made good sense, and posts were interesting to read. If the other mods disagree, let me know, as I'm still getting comfortable with moderating.

Grand Library will be updated.
