Can you guys elaborate a little on how exactly battles go? You mentioned in the rules that the mods decide th winner based on RPing skill...but what exactly does that mean? (sorry, never played a game like this before). |

The players involved in the battle take turns posting, in a storytelling format, the actions their forces are undertaking, including movement, attacks, and retreats. This is usually done from the viewpoint of the army's commander, issuing orders to his men. The winner is decided based on three factors: 1)Composition of the player's forces. This includes numerical advantage, the presence of elite units, and special cases involving specific units. (For example, a player with mostly cavalry will posses an advantage over an enemy force of swordsmen. If the latter player used pikemen, instead, to counter the cavalry, then he would likely possess the advantage.) 2)Roleplaying. The player whose post is the most well-written generally has a much larger chance of victory. Posts should be clear, should flow well as a story, and should contain few spelling and grammatical errors. 3)Strategy. Use of military strategy, such as flanking, charging, and regrouping is a very important, perhaps the most important, factor in the judging of battles. Generally the attacking player deploys his strategy, the defender counters, the attacker adapts to the situation, and so on. Are things a bit clearer now? |
