To the Lords and Ladies of Westeros, I send out a call for a grand tournament in the tradition of the late King Bathos. If you wish to enter a knight into the tourney, post here. Here are the rules: #1- You can enter the tourney by replying to this post with the name of the knight you wish to send. The tourney will begin when there are 8 knights enlisted. If there are fewer than 8 knights after a few days I will allow lords to send a second knight. #2- If you enter the tourney you must tribute 100 Gold Dragons to me for each knight enlisted; these will be tournament funds and I will not touch them except for distributing prize money. #3- The tournament will be a pyramid structure: The first round will be four joust of two knights randomly assigned to fight. The winner will move on while the loser will be out of the tourney. The second round will be two jousts of the round 1 winners. The winners of round 2 will fight in the final round to determine the winner. #4- The rules for jousting will be similar to the tourney in season 1. You can decide to either LEAN, BLOCK, or STRIKE. LEAN beats BLOCK BLOCK beats STRIKE STRIKE beats LEAN PM me your decision before each round and I will announce the winners when everyone is accounted for. When a round has begun every jouster has 5 days to PM me or their knight is disqualified. After all jousters PM me their decisions I will post the information on this thread. Anyone who ties will have 2 days to PM me with a rematch decision or face disqualification. Once every battle is conclusively finished (no more ties) we will move on to the next round until the winner is decided. #5- The winner of the tourney will have their 100 GD investment returned to them as well as an elite faction unit of their choice. It is my hope that this will be an amusing diversion from the bloody wars that currently plague the continent. Any and all lords who wish to participate, send your knights soon and good luck! Oh... just occured to me: in case there is a matter of distrust concerning tributing money to me directly, perhaps it would be ok to tribute money to a tourney fund so that no one could touch it until the tournament was over. Either that or make it a rule that funds gained for tourney purposes can't be used for anything else. I'm also thinking that we could add in an RP element to the game... any thoughts? |

I'm all for the RP element. Maybe just start a seperate thread in the RP section? I'm not sure how easy it would be to RP the acual jousts (except maybe retrospectively), but training/boasting/drinking would all be possible. |

I can make a 'donation fund' in the Grand Library; it will be untouchable until there is a winner. The winner will then recieve the spoils. For the RPing, go ahead and make a topic, that's what the section is for. |

I am hereby entering the tourney. My knight's name is Ser Oberyn Gargalen of Salt Shore. I shall tribute 100 Golden Dragons to the donation fund a soon as it is set up. |

what do you guys think about this: I'll make one section called "the tavern", one called "the yard", and one called "the field" In the tavern you can RP what your characters do in the main tavern; we'll all have someone in there and they can interact with each other... kind of like a few mini stories happening in the same setting. In the yard you can do the same in the practice yard. Let's say you challenged some arrogant lordling to a duel in the tavern last night and want to send him back to the seven. Do so here. In the field you can RP your joust. This would probably be done best if it were after the actual joust has taken place, or at least if you RP anything before it make sure that you don't put the outcome in. In my mind this seems like fun because all of our characters can RP in a sort of controlled setting. Also, if anyone wants to RP about something different they can set up another topic as well. Does it sound good to other people or would you rather a more general and free RP topic? |
