In the dark of night a terrible storm raged over Sea of Dorne. In the eye of the storm was a great galley. On that galley were Lord Robert and Lady Arianne Martell of Salt Shore. It was their wedding day exactly twenty-four years ago. By dornish law the former Robert Stark had changed his name to Martell and Arianne ruled Salt Shore with Robert by her side. Soon after their marriage they had a son, Brandon Martell, who is also known by the name "Wolf of Dorne", because of his Stark-ish looks. In that dark night their galley crashed into the jagged rocks of the Sea of Dorne, leaving their twenty-three year old to rule Slat Shore from there on out. Brandon had received the message of their death only yesterday. He was still mourning for his parents, but accepted the fact that they were dead and that it was his duty to rule. Their funeral was planned for the following day, since it was very doubtful that their bodies would show up anywhere. Brandon thought that to be best, so that his people could mourn for them as soon as possible and then get back to their normal lives. He couldn't have his people mourn and not concentrate during such a time, while something was happening in Westeros, something big. He didn't know what yet, but he knew that it would be dangerous. His parents had noticed as well and had started to unite Dorne. Yronwood and Lemonwood were already following their leadership, now they were following Brandon's. He was also discussing with the lord of Wyl and was fairly confident that they would follow him soon enough. Brandon also had friends in Sunspear, Starfall and Nightsong, together as high lords all of Dorne would soon be under their rule. Together they would be prepared for whatever may come, to them and the rest of Westeros. |
