I believe the old site was part of the SoIaF Ring. I'm not sure. Either way I often looked through those types of Rings so it might be good to add this site to the ring. |

Years ago I admined an IF forum about Dungeons & Dragons called DnD Talk. The Gunslinger joined that (only then his username was DnDWorldChamp). Later, I created a site called Expanse of Empires, which is sort of like this game only more technical (units had specific stats, and I programmed a battle emulator to calculate the winners of battles). Like many members of DnD Talk, The Gunsliner joined EoE. After about a year (and 4 seasons of play), Expanse of Empires grew too big for me and three moderators to keep up with. I closed it down and began working on a version programmed in PHP (everything done automatically, no need for moderators). But after completing about 80% of it, I decided to ditch the project and major in computer science before attempting a more layered, sophisticated programming approach. The Gunslinger later emailed me about this site and I thought I'd join, cuz I kind of miss Expanse of Empires. Lots of fun times on those forums. |

Got the mass email. Frankly though, me and Elven could've easily handled it. You just wanted bigger and better things

Aye. But Larks, the old can still awaken. In the old forum, lots of mods were needed. Here, very few. What if we gave it a GoT-esque makeover? If you still believe that is. Maybe I can donate to u my Imperio maps so we have an entire of continents, make some changes and…viola, The new(x3…maybe x2) EoE. I still believe that EoE’s glory can be resurrected, with all of its kings and lords, queen’s, ladies and turncoats. |

Thanks for the offer, Turncloak, but I'm sure I'm not going to re-open EOE for play. If there is ever a new Expanse of Empires (which is a likely candidate for my college software project), it will be called somthing else, it will be a Java web app, and it will be a lot cleaner and more user-friendly. The play-by-post system was too much to keep track of, and getting more moderators wasn't the solution because out of the many mods I had on EOE, the only ones I could rely on to not mess things up and to actually do thier work were myself and Unreal. |
