Will there be a 3rd book in the pirate series? Perhaps not for a little while. I'm currently working on a two book fantasy series with author and friend Christopher Hopper. I'm also shopping around an Epic 7-book fantasy series. If that one get's a contract, then, the pirate tale may be backburnered. However, should God allow that I become a full time writer, I definitely have ideas for a 3rd Isle of....

And yes, Blackbeard would figure prominently. Good catch there.

Never alone.

I'm just glad that a third book is a possibility. I was kind of like, "There has to be a third book!" after I read that last sentence in IoF. lol

Think about it, guys. It's not like Isle of Swords and Isle of Fire weren't filled with stuff that didn't really happen (i.e. the Viking attack on London during King George's reign) so why couldn't Mr. Batson write a fictional story with Blackbeard in it? He could even use the real story of Blackbeard's defeat if he wanted to, and just weave it into his own version.

I really loved both Pirate Adventure books and I really would like to see more, but I don't think they will come for a while. We can be content in knowing that mr. Batson is very busy writing other great stories, though! :D
Ross: "You never told me, how did you know Fremont had taken a grain barrel and not the black powder?"
Jacques St. Pierre: "It is élémentaire, mon capitaine. I carve a leter 'B' on the side of every barrel that contains explosives."
Jules: "Ah, 'B' for black powder."
Jacques: "No, my gigantic friend, 'B' as in BOOM!!"

I hadn't thought there was going to be a third book. Now my hopes are up!

Yeah, I think the IoF ending was one of the best endings ever. Very complete, and cool. I absolutely loved the book, and it seems like there couldn't be much more after IoF. Idk, though.

Wow... I haven't been around here in quite a while... At any rate... I recently (FINALLY) got a copy of Isle of Fire, and finished it earlier today. WOW. Really.......I.... WOW. It was incredible. I love this one even more than Isle of Swords (which is saying something) and would definitely love to see more books like this one from Mr. Batson. :D :D :D

I don't get this whole "Dark Sea Annals" thing. What exactly are they, and when did Mr. Batson mention them? I don't know, but to me they sound sorta like more pirate-type books. Why would he have written Isle of Swords and Isle of Fire if now he's apparently just going to ditch that series and continue sweating over a SEVEN book series? Whew! That's alot. I think Mr. Batson will disappoint many fans of the IoS/IoF books, because he obviously left room for another book. He wouldn't even need to include Blackbeard in it; he could just create a new plotline with a whole host of new evil characters. :P

Grateful Barde for the King

Hi, All

About Isle of Swords/Fire, they were only intended to be a duology. Two books was all that TN contracted me for the pirate stuff. However, as you know, I'm fond of saying that the best adventures are the ones that never end. So I left a few dangling threads at the end of Isle of Fire. Some have hurtfully accused me of leaving too many threads dangling. Some have even threatened me with bodily harm if I don't write a third book. lol

Let's just put it this way, I have ideas, but I also have multiple books to do first. If God wants to make a way for it to happen, I'm ready.

In the meantime, allow me to announce that I have signed with AMG publishers to do two books (so far) of the Annals of the Dark Sea series. The first book: "A Sword in the Stars" will be out in stores October 2010...I think. As to what the story is about: It will be a true epic fantasy, all in its own world. Very lively characters--they keep introducing themselves to me. Villains on a global scale as well as personal…and a bounty hunter who simply will NOT stop coming…ever. My bestiary is absolutely bursting with critters and creatures. And I am working very hard to develop the lore of this world: races, cultures, languages, history, religion, etc. Parts of it already feel very real to me, and that is a good sign. I can't give away much of the specific plot, but let's just say that when good people leave their posts, bad things can happen.

Never alone.

Me too! It sounds so cool! Thanks for clarifying on the whole publishing business, Mr. Batson. Although I'm still pretty sad and disappointed that you won't write any more of the adventures of Cat, Anne, and everyone else. :( They were great!!! :)
