I watched the very first WrestleMania again last night, and something's been bugging me: The main event was Mr. T and Hulk Hogan against Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff. Okay, great. Thing is, Piper and Orndorff had Bob Orton in their corner, since he had been part of their "faction" for months. Alright, that's fine. On the other side, Jimmy Snuka was in the corner of T and Hogan. Why? Because he had a long-standing feud against Piper and Orton (Snuka's the one that broke Orton's arm to put it in that cast, by the way), that's why. Great. Here's my problem: Both "cornermen" repeatedly get involved in the match. And both guys wrestled the night before WrestleMania, and the night after WrestleMania. So, they were still active competitors. So, WTF have a tag match with cornermen?! If they're going to be getting involved in the match anyway, why didn't Vince just book the WrestleMania main event to be a 6-man tag team match?! To me, that would have made a lot more sense. |
